...Allen Session 1 Journal Colorado Christian University, I feel, will have a major influence in my academic work and goals because of its Christian foundation. Upon searching schools for ministry, I found Colorado Christian University (CCU). I became interested in being able to obtain a degree from a college with a spiritual background. I have been spiritually driven in the past few years with seeking Christ, although I ran into some rough patches, I chose to stay on track. It was a long journey to what I call recovery. It was not until I decided to change where and how I lived that my relationship with Christ was strengthened. I prayed and asked God to remove me from my current situation so I relocated from Iowa to Alabama in pursuit of a life...

...Seattle University’s qualifications align with what I hope to experience in college because it has 3 main factors that make this school a great fit for me: a diverse setting, faith, and great close knit community. In high school, I learned that exposure is one of the main ways to grow and learn. At Seattle University is located on Capitol Hill; the heart of Seattle’s most lively and diverse neighborhoods. There are also a lot of multi-cultural clubs that I would love to get involved with on the campus. At this university, I will be able to thrive in the community and contribute to the black student population in a positive way. In high school, I was a link crew leader and the Vice President of the Deca club. I believe that my Leadership skills...

...Due to my love of architecture, driving through college campuses has always fascinated me. The attention to detail present in the layout of campus and buildings impresses me, making me want to design similar buildings. As an architect, I plan to give back to Ohio State by contributing to the future building projects of the university. Whether working on dorms, classrooms, rec centers, restaurants, or even renovations to the famous Ohio Stadium, I would consider the opportunity an honor. The visual impression of buildings makes Ohio State beautiful and recognizable, while the structural design of the buildings makes the university efficient and accessible. Using what I learned at Ohio State for Ohio State will represent my commitment to the...

...At first, I had set my mind on going to the University of Washington. It was my dream school, it had everything that I had hoped for in a school. The city the school was located in was amazing, the weather was perfect, and above all, I also had some family there. And for me, being the stubborn girl that I am, nothing or nobody could make me change my mind about attending this school, that is until I took part in UTSA’s health professions summer program. When I had first heard of the program, I thought that it could be something beneficial and productive that I could do during the summer. That it would help improve my skill set, as well as give me an insight about what college life was going to be like. However, the program gave me more than...

...College is where many experience their first time living on their own. This is also where many find the freedom and challenges that come with life on their own. Through my experiences as an Oklahoma State University student living in a new environment away from home, my sense of personal space, personal property, and privacy have changed. In my first year living on campus, I was sharing the room with a friend from high school. My sense of personal space was changed from my room at home to now splitting the room up between what was my space and my roommate’s. My personal property was now the things I brought from home, but also the provided bed, desk, and dresser I was now responsible for. Sharing my stuff like my television and kitchen utensils...

...My decision to go to Tulane University was probably the hardest decision I have had to make so far in my life. By the end of my junior year in high school all of my closest friends had made up their mind on where they would be going to college, but I was still changing my college destination at least once a week. Starting my senior year the question, “Have you decided where you’re going to college yet?” had become a prevailing one that I dreaded. I applied to nine different colleges and decided that the one that I received the most money from would be the one at which I would attend, this however was not the case. I was accepted to all nine colleges with scholarships from every one of them. The only thing that I was positive about was that I wanted to attend college in Louisiana, which left me with eight colleges to chose from. One third of my friends were going to Louisiana State University and another third was attending the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Both of these schools were main options for me, until my mom was diagnosed with cancer. This narrowed down my decision to three colleges: University of New Orleans Louisiana, Our Lady of Holy Cross College, and Tulane University. All three of these colleges had their different pros and cons. The University of New Orleans Louisiana was close enough to home that I could live on campus and be home...

...Born in Ohio, and mostly raised near Chicago, Illinois, Texas wasn’t really on my mind all that much. The opportunity came up for my dad to relocate to Texas as part of a promotion for his job, and I began to consider my options. Texas would finally be a big change from the midwest area. I searched many colleges in Texas, and ultimately decided that Texas Tech University (Tech). This was based on location, cost, and rankings. As of now, I am majoring in mechanical engineering, with an MBA hopefully somewhere down the road. I visited Tech in late March, and really enjoyed my visit. I loved the small town feel, and the friendly culture. I also liked the weather and food! I look forward to precipitating in intramural sports, and discovering...

...My first week at North Dakota State University has been interesting to say the least. Life living here is much different than what I am accustomed to back home. The amount of freedom I have here is almost incomprehensible, I am the one who sets my schedule. So far I have done well in regards to my adjustment to living on campus. I have already established a morning routine and discovered the routes I will take to my class. The biggest challenge I have faced thus far is adjusting to both the homework load and the classwork assignment system used in college. During my last semester of highschool half of my classes were Advanced Placement courses, whose test I took a month or two before the end of the school year, which resulted in only...

...person is focusing on something different, thinking of something different, and noticing something different. That is why every person has a story to tell, and it is why we can learn from every single person. And this essay is about my short autobiography, which can give you an indication of my personal story. I came into this world on the windy morning of October 15, 1990. I was born in Cua Viet, a small town in Vietnam. I am the 5th child among the 5 children of my parent. I grew up and spent almost my whole life in my country. Now, I am the second year student in Business Accounting- the 2 year program. I have been through many life-changing situations in past 3 years. These situations have had both positive and negative impacts to me. My goals from 5 years ago compare to my current goals are totally different. After finishing 12th grade, I just wanted to become a Mathematics teacher, so I went to Hue University and tried my best to achieve the goal. However, when I was the 2nd year student of the Hue University, I found that I was no longer interested in becoming a teacher. Hence, I dropped the school and wanted to get a better education in Canada and seek opportunities in accounting. Since then, my life has changed. On one hand, starting my new life in a strange country is so hard. When I just came, I faced many difficulties, such as the language, the weather and the life style. Firstly, language was a big matter when I first came. Speaking was one of the linguistic problems...

...Everybody always says how badly they want to get out of their hometown. I said that for the longest time, that I would never live in Tulsa. One night I walked out of The Vanguard after seeing a concert and headed down to the Guthrie Green. I sat on the steps and saw children playing on the splash pads and a couple was slow dancing to music that was coming out of the speakers. I looked out and saw the beautiful glow of downtown and how happy all these people were. I thought about how great Tulsa actually is and I realized how much I actually love it. After that night, I kept imagining my life at the University of Tulsa. However, I didn’t think they had a music management major so what am I gonna do there? I was talking with my aunt one day,...

...All through my life I have been striking out, but one week in the summer of 2017, I hit a grand slam. It was a rainy evening with steam rising from the narrow, winding roads that I arrived at my destination, Shippensburg University. I ventured miles away from my upbeat urban life to a dessert place to go to the camp of Keystone Girls State. This was the camp that turned my life a complete 360, and where I hit my grand slam. When I first arrived to the camp, I was skeptical at first because I heard about this camp from a friend. I had no clue of what the camp entailed, but the moment I stepped foot into the camp, I knew this was a place for me. My journey began when I was assigned to my mock city. At Geter City, we elected a mayor and other city officials, and I was elected city magistrate. As the city magistrate, I heard many trials being debated between cogent plaintiffs and lawyers. This is where my voice started to be heard, since I decided if the defendant was guilty or not. At the state level, I and six others were elected Supreme Court Justices. I felt honored because it meant my peers believed in me and that they...

...is the case with me. I did not realize the actions I did were good or bad until I saw the side effects of them. The side effects were evident through the different events that occurred in my life later on. The realization came to me only after experiencing those events. The realization was a gradual process.(transition) Few months back I got admission in IBA, in the field of BBA. It is considered to be one of the top universities for bachelors in business administration in Pakistan. In the first couple of weeks everything sailed smoothly, and I thought I was on top of the world. But as the saying goes, everything that goes up must come down, and so I to had a downfall. As time passed on I noticed and felt something strange. Every day I used to have that same feeling. It was as if I was lacking in something, maybe it was that I could not fit with my mates, or not enjoying the university life. For about a weak I could not figure out what had went wrong, and what I should do. But the day finally arrived, the day on which I came to know the real reason behind it. It was a Friday like any other normal Friday, 8:30 in the morning, and I was sitting in my philosophy class half asleep as usual. The teacher was giving her typical philosophical views about the world, as if I had fewer problems in my life already. She finished her lecture, and told the class that she will be awarding the class...

...Point of View: The 1st person point of view of Babs. When death is lurking in your veins, your life presents itself to you through your dimming, and regretful eyes, in the way you lived. In life, every couple years or so, you reflect on yourself, seeing what and who you are versus what and who you wanted to be. I’ve never been where I should or wanted to be. I’ve made some mistakes, just like every other human being. What I’ve done in my short twenty four years of life on gods beautiful green earth has led me here. Lying on the edge of this cliff, with my neck and torso over this mountain top, blood slowly flowing up my shoulder and down my neck like a stream of interconnecting rivers; one river ending at my mouth forcing me to swallow my own blood, the others getting in my eyes and going throw my gaping nostrils gasping for air, making breathing and seeing that much harder at this altitude. I have my own custom made six inch hunting knife dug into my right peck, with a human hand stuck between my chest and the knife. My family is dead; my friends are gone; everyone I know is oblivious and careless to anything that’s happened to me. If I bleed to death or fall off the edge, no one will miss me or come...
