...on the children(s) behaviour. Such strategies include; Naughty chair, speaking (feeling and emotion), 2 warnings, these are all sanctions, which are implemented in home and schools, such as the 3 warnings. When the children/child has done the sanction appropriate for the behaviour a reward should be put in place, such as a reward chart, meaning to stars and you get a bag of sweets, or a day out etc. Having these sanctions in place along with the reward chart, means that the child will be told off, and have time to reflect on their actions, however because they’ll know they’ve been had they will get a treat for being good. These strategies teach the child/children discipline which every child needs, when in a family home, discipline key, so that everyday work/ life with children should be rewarding not hard work. When the reward charts are used alongside the sanctions, it gains trust and understanding for both the parent(s) and child(ren). M2- In a health and social care environment such as a family home, the naughty chair will be a good one to use, as it will be a time out seat, and a place for the child to reflect on what they have done wrong. For this to be carried out, you will need a chair that is only used as the naughty chair, otherwise if you use the chair for everything they won’t see the ‘naughty chair’ for bad behaviour, and therefore will be sending mixed messages to the child. When using the naughty chair you need to say why they are been put on the chair...

...Bryce VanCamp 3rd hour Due: Monday, October 26 The Ransom of Red Chief In O. Henry’s story, The Ransom of Red Chief, there are several different characters, but the one I would like to tell you about is Red Chief (otherwise known as Johnny). Red Chief is a very naughty little boy. Red Chief brings excitement into the story, but he also causes chaos. In the text of The Ransom of Red Chief, the character Red Chief is in the street and he is throwing rocks at a kitten. Red Chief is a naughty little boy because the kitten isn’t even trying to harm Red Chief in any sort of way. Therefore, Red Chief is being naughty because people who aren’t naughty wouldn't throw rocks at kittens. In the film of The Ransom of Red Chief, the character Red Chief...

...Terra Runyan Walmart pulls 'Naughty Leopard' Halloween costume made for TODDLERS after complaints from outraged parents (September 26, 2013) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2432913/Walmart-pulls-Naughty-Leopard-Halloween-costume-TODDLERS-complaints-outraged-parents.html#ixzz2iht9tRma Naughty: behaving badly, guilty of disobedience or misbehavior. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/naughty) A word that used to mean “misbehaving” has now been sexualized. How has a word that once meant to behave badly, turned sexual? What does this mean for people now? In this paper I will use symbolic interactionism to explain the article. In the “…Naughty Leopard…” article it describes how the toddler costume is stirring up controversy within the parenting community. The word “naughty” has been put on a package next to a toddler girl, wearing a black dress with leopard trim, and leopard ears. Parents believe that by using the term “naughty” Walmart is trying to “sexualize” our children. The costume has been pulled from the shelves, and a spokesman for Walmart has apologized and said “It was never our intention to offend anyone and we apologize to any customers who may have been offended by the name of our costume”. Let’s look back at the history of the term. The word “naughty” during the 16th century meant "unhealthy, unpleasant, bad (with respect to weather), vicious (of an animal), inferior, or bad in quality". In the early days in Middle England, the word “naughti”...

...Ann Bonifacio Assignment #3 March 07, 2016 The Imperfection of Female The author, Lucy Clifford suggests that children are easily corrupted, women are out of control, and mothers have inadequate parenting skills in the story “The New Mother”. Firstly, Clifford shows that children in “The New Mother” can be corrupted easily. The children Blue-Eyes and Turkey are quickly convinced by the Gypsy girl to be naughty in order for them to see the little people dance in her pear-drum. In this case, Blue-Eyes and Turkey are willing to behave disobediently to gain what they want. In order to satisfy the Gypsy girl that they are naughty enough, they also do things against their mother’s wishes. They follow the things that the Gypsy girl suggests them to do even if their behaviour hurts their mother’s feelings. They tell the Gypsy girl “We have been so very naughty, and mother says she will go away to-day and send home a new mother if we are not good” (Clifford 60A). They choose to disobey their mother through the manipulation of the Gypsy girl, making them believe that “There is no mother with a wooden tail and glass eyes and if there were we should just stick pins into her and send her away” (Clifford 60A). The two girls also break things at their house such as the tins on the wall, and window as advised by the Gypsy Girl. “We have done all the things you told us; now will show us the little man and woman?” (Clifford 60A), the children try to prove her. Her manipulation persuades...

Following Krampus night is Nikolaustag, or St. Nicholas Day. As for the children who have been naughty, it is said that Krampus takes them back to his lair in hell. St. Nicholas became known for his giving to others and the less fortunate. He had become so popular that when he died on December 6th, the day was considered Nikolaustag, or St. Nicholas Day where children who were good would open their doors in the morning to find...

...Jean-Jacques Rousseau, believed that every child has a unique value and children should not be seen as immature adults. He also emphasized the importance of moral development in his writing ‘Emile’, in which he believed it could be performed by living a simple life. Rousseau’s ideas had a major influence on the development of children’s literature. People raised awareness about children and children’s fantasy literature was flourishing in the 19th century. In this Golden Age, different varieties of children’s fantasy literature were written to entertain children, such as modern fantasy stories and adventure stories. The naughty image of children could be shown in many adventure stories as well, such as ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ (1876) by Mark Twain and ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’ (1883) by Carlo Collodi. Up to the 20th century and recent decades, Naughty main characters are typical and common in children’s adventure stories, they are appealing and popular to young readers as well, for example ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ (1964) by Roald Dahl. On the other hand, Chinese children’s fantasy literature had a rather short history of development. Before the 20th century, children’s fantasy literature did not exist in China. Until the Inter-war...

...told no by their parents. Since the veldt means so much to the kids it would kill them to have it taken away. One lesson the story suggests is that when children become spoiled they become naughty kids. From the very beginning, the author uses descriptive language to show how the kids are spoiled. In one of the scenes in the story it shows that the children are returning from a trip in their helicopter. The author shows us that the children are spoiled because they had cheeks like peppermint candy, eyes like bright blue agate marbles, and a smell of ozone on their jumpers. This shows that clearly the kids are spoiled, sweet, and innocent little kids. In the kids own mind they think that they are little angels and they only care about the possessions that they have. If their parents would say no to them at least once, they would flip out because they are so used to being spoiled and having their parents think that they are little angels. One example from the text is on page 6 “They’re spoiled and we’re spoiled.” This line shows that the kids are spoiled and that the parents know they spoil them, but it almost also seems like they don’t care that they do. Because if the parents would care they wouldn’t spoil them as much because by them spoiling Wendy and Peter is setting them up to be naughty kids in the future. By having the kids raised like this isn’t gonna help them in life. Because the children are so spoiled, they are getting caught up in their own lives by talking back to...

...today turkey. Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Sinterklaas. He was a 4th century Greek Christian bishop. Saint Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor. Dutch folklore In Dutch folklore Saint Nicholas (the good saint) had helpers known as the Black peter, or pere fouettard in French. Tradition holds that Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) and his aides arrive each year by steam boat from Spain in mid November. Black Peter carries the book that contains notes on all children that indicate whether the child has been good or naughty during the year. The entourage carries gifts, chocolate letters and spice nuts to be handed to the well-behaved children. During the subsequent three weeks, Saint Nicholas is believed to ride a white-grey horse over the rooftops at night, delivering gifts through the chimney to the well-behaved children, while the naughty children risk being caught by Saint Nicholas's aides that carry jute bags and willow canes for that purpose Many countries celebrated his feast on December 6th by giving gifts. In 16th-17th century Europe, many Protestants and others changed the gift...

...At least, that is what we are told happens in America. However, being naughty a few hundred years ago in Germany and some other European countries would earn you a visit from Krampus (Who is Krampus?). Santa’s dark companion would punish the misbehaved while jolly old St. Nick would reward children with gifts. Without the fear of Krampus beating kids in modern days, children have become more spoiled, expecting Santa to simply bring them gifts with no downside. Both used to be possible visitors on Christmas Eve, and the look of who shows up if you’ve been naughty is enough to cause a grown man to fear for his...

As I started to outline this paper and trying to separate my feelings and thoughts on the subject, as I wanted to write an impartial paper, I discovered many interesting facts. I believed there were two sides: Side A believing in God and with the platform that faith is needed to guide humans and provide proper morality, and Side B believing that God is not needed in the equations as we are masters of our destiny. Sounds simple right...

...The Last of Us by the Makers ‘Naughty Dog’ is arguably one of the best games to have been made and certainly one of the best games to have been made for the PS3. Because of this there are many reviews based around The Last of Us and because of this I have chosen to focus my study on a review written by the webpage ‘GiantBomb’. The Last of Us has been reviewed as one of the best story lines to have been written for a game because it focuses on tragedy and the natural paternal instinct that the player begins to have for your companion, Ellie. The creative story line and the game play style gives the game a realistic feel of controversy when faced with morally obscure decisions. Firstly, the context to which this review on The Last of Us has...
