...years ago, Caesars has grown through development of new resorts, expansions and acquisitions, and now operates casinos on three continents,” ("Caesar's Entertainment", 2015). The corporation has built up customer loyalty over the years by providing quality services and accommodations. However, many families with children will choose somewhere that is more kid-friendly. The following plan outlines how a new division of Caesar’s Entertainment, hence forward called “Sportsmen’s Lodge,” will cater to the whole family, and especially for outdoorsmen; not just the casinos that the chain is famous for, and Caesar’s Entertainment’s will of course keep up its high standards for customer service and satisfaction. A plan of this type could use a beta test, such as just one location, or as an addition to an existing location. For this purpose, Beckley, West Virginia will be the site for the project from the ground up; meaning that there is not currently a Caesar’s Entertainment facility at that location. How can you create an introduction that provides background, which funnels into your thesis statement? This is great information, but it is more of a company background section as opposed to a formal introduction. Mission Statement: “Sportsmen’s Lodge” One specific area that could be expanded upon is an all-inclusive family resort with something for everyone; even the family pets! In particular, for the outdoor lovers, the new resort would offer all of the upscale amenities standard...

...around the world (Coal, 2013). With coal energy still being one of the major forms of energy production, coal energy companies are still trying to secure new contracts to mine coal in new places throughout the United States. Recently this issue has reached the Pacific Northwest as Ambre Energy has been working on obtaining a permit to mine and transport coal through the Columbia River Gorge with mining in Boardman, Oregon. As of today their permit has been denied, but they are in the process of appealing this decision. There are many ethical issues on both sides that will ultimately determine whether or not Ambre Energy is allowed to proceed and obtain a permit to mine and ship coal from Boardman, Oregon. If approved current estimates are that Ambre Energy would be mining and shipping approximately eight million tons of coal per year through the Columbia River Gorge (Friends, 2014). The ethical lens that most easily pertains to this situation is Utilitarianism, which is the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Considering both short and long term consequences is also very important when using this lens to make an ethical decision (Johnson, 2012). It’s likely that both sides in this case utilized this type of thinking when making the decision on whether or not to mine and transport coal in the Gorge. From Ambre Energy’s perspective it could be argued that the...

...Hood River Early Settlers Joe Correa ANTH 310 Week Nine Essay March 11, 2012 Words: 1535 Hood River Early Settlers In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. So goes the old teaching poem goes. Three hundred years later, in 1792, Lt. William Broughton explored the Columbia River. He is credited for naming the geography along the Columbia River. Under President Thomas Jefferson’s instructions, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark undertook the further exploration of the Columbia River working from the East to the West, ending where Lt. Broughton had started. The map from the British gave them an idea of what to expect. Thirteen years later, Lewis and Clark would see the same landscape, make a new map, and give some of the places that Lt. Broughton had already named new names. On October 29, 1805, Lewis and Clark discovered a stream on the south banks of the Columbia and called it the Labeasche River after one of their members, Private Francois Labiche. It is near this glacial river that the current site of Hood River is found. The river itself has changed names twice to become Hood River. It was called Dog River for a while after some pioneers became stranded here and had to eat a dog for sustenance. It was again changed to Hood River with time and the name Dog River given to a small stream upriver. The name Hood being from the mountain that was given the name by Lt. Broughton honoring Lord Hood of the British Admiralty. The area first appears on a map...

...Observational Activity: Adolescence now and then For my interview I spoke with my Grandfather, Mr. Michael Patterson age 81 from Toms River, New Jersey, I will be referring to my Grandfather by his preferred nick-name Micky. Micky's religious background is Roman Catholic, and education level is High School Graduate. Micky attended high school in Brick, New Jersey at a private Catholic school. He was never the studious, academia focused student, however, did well enough to earn respectable grades in classes. Most homework assigned was repetition and copying type work to reinforce the lessons taught by the teachers who were also Nuns. Physical punishment at school was still very much in play when Micky attended school so most students completed the homework assignments. All of the traditional school subjects were taught, math, grammar, history, science, and because it was a Catholic school, religion. Micky worked at the family Italian restaurant starting at age 12, he would slice peppers, meats, and vegetables for the family, and as he grew older he moved to the wait staff. During our talk, and something that has been mentioned many times by Micky, he recalls the work ethic of adolescents during that time and the loyalty to family in comparison to today. Micky very much loved his family and cared for them, growing up in a working class family they were very close despite long work hours and as he stated “ always being tired, but that's how you know you worked hard”. ...The grapevine is unstable and unreliable; it can fuel anxiety, conflict and misunderstanding in small or large group situations. But, grapevine can also be beneficial because in most cases, grapevine information holds at least a kernel of truth. Information from upper management that flows through the grapevine to lower-level employees can allow them to see, and possibly relate to, the struggles that management is facing. When employees have a sense of these challenges, even if it is not entirely accurate they can rise up and make suggestions or work to improve a situation of which they might not otherwise have been aware. Also, if trouble is on the horizon, it can give employees a chance to make plans and temper their reactions when the news is formally communicated to them (Lorette, 1996). I would not agree totally that grapevine is never a good form of communication because grapevine is useful as a supplement to formal channels of communication and it often travels more quickly than other channels and is usually more direct. I know that grapevine consists basically rumors and gossip and it travels from person to person during breaks, lunch and in after-work gatherings, but God warn us about gossip, according to the bible “You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness” (Exodus 13:1). In conclusion, I would suggest that if managers can tap into the grapevine, they can learn a substantial amount about the issues and...

...small-wins strategy, one began by changing something that was relatively easy to change. Then another "easy change" was added, and so on (p.150). Myers needs to divide large and long-term goals into small and tangible pieces in order to make him feel fulfilled. Moreover, Myers also feels that some people have lost confidence in him. Retrieving all the lost confidence at once is an overwhelming task, but he could build the trust by some small things step by step. I do believe each successful change generates more and more momentum that, when combines together, lead to the larger change that he desires. Consequently, he will feel less lost. ...Jorge 10/03/2013 How’s your Hero? What is your definition of a hero? Someone you look up to? Someone that does heroic acts? Or just someone that is fictional? These are the questions to consider when trying to define a hero. People today have their own unique definition of a hero as we do not live in ancient times. In ancient times heroes were suppose to be of divine ancestries, who were endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for their bold exploits, and who were favored by the gods. According to Merriam-Webster today, a hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities. Throughout history tall tales have been told of ancient heroes like Hercules, Beowulf, and Moses of how they helped their people overcome difficulties in their society. Although most of these ancient heroes are fictional, many may be regarded as great and heroic in literature. In the last 300 years or so there have been influential that have change the world or contributed to make the world a better place, and therefore earning the right to be called heroes in their society. Many tend to look up and define as a hero who they think are worthy of such a title. Parents may be consider as such as they always support and do their outmost to help their children succeed. This is the case in “The Train from Hate” were the mother consoles her son while teaching him a valuable lesson about after being kicked out of the train. ...always knew I wanted to pursue a higher education but I never knew where or for what. So I took some time off about an 8-½ year hiatus from academics and joined the Army. I traveled the world seen amazing things and met a lot of amazing people whom I now consider my extended family. When my contract was up with the Army I decided to go back to college. I didn’t know in what or what for but I knew I wanted to go. So I had some thinking to do as in where I wanted to attend. Ocean County College became the number one choice for three deciding factors: location, class size and flexibility. I am a native of Toms River and I am very familiar with the area so when I decided to go back to school location was a major deciding factor. First being from the area I am well aware of all traffic patterns within the surrounding area, which is a plus, and I don’t have to adjust to new traffic patterns in unfamiliar territory. Second parking at OCC’s main campus is not the best but it is not bad either. They have ample areas to park and there is not a shortage in parking spots which would usually be a problem if I was attending a University or State College in a heavy populated city for example Seton Hall or NYU just to name a few. Lastly I only live 10 minutes from campus a very short drive, which make it very convenient if I’m rushing around town and have a study group or class within a certain time while I am out trying to accomplish any chores or tasks I had for the day. I’m not to far from...

...Trying To Do Business in Mexico 06/08/2014 1: what mistakes did ted make in his management of SterMexicana? It is obvious that Ted did some major mistakes which made the establishment and running of the company unsuccessful. One major mistake he did was delegating and leaving more work to Manuel instead of working hand in hand with him .he did not go to the field with him to seek ideas about the establishment of the company. It seems that they only met in meetings where Manuel could give him updates on the progress of the establishment and hence he could not have a clear picture of the situation from the ground. He also did not ensure that the hiring process was fair to all, this is seen when Manuel is found to have hired nearly all of his relatives. 2: Is Manuel responsible for any of the difficulties presented in the case? Manuel is responsible for some of the difficulties especially the one related with the employees. Ted trusted him with the hiring process since he was the one who was doing most of the ground work. When the efficiency of the work was questioned and Ted directed him to lay off some employees, it was discovered that most of the employees were his relatives. This means that even their level of qualification was in question since unqualified employees cannot work satisfactorily. His poor planning methods also made the establishment of the company to be behind schedule. 3 what should Ted do now to correct the situation? Here Ted should take...

I would first advise the perspective speaker to understand the audience that the information is to be given. I would discuss things such as choosing the appropriate subject matter, how to overcome nervousness and make it work to your benefit, conferring with the sponsors regarding the proper dress code, and how to practice the speech in the mirror prior to delivery. In conclusion, it is imperative to prepare for a presentation weeks in advance if at all possible. One would want to keep the interests peeked of the respective audience and provide new and fresh ideas that cannot be accessed on the internet. Therefore, it is critical to research the topic thoroughly and obtain valid and credible information to pass along. I feel this way because this is not the job that I want for my future and while working on my Master’s degree here at Ashford University hopefully will help me get the ideal job for my future. For me right now, working is a necessity. This is something that I truly need at the moment. As I age into retirement, working probably would be something just for me to past the time away.
