...In the essay “On Paradise” Nicolette Bethel starts off by discussing reality based on perspective. To illustrate this Bethel uses two examples. The first example is the image of a beach seen through the eyes of two people; a tourist and a resident. From the tourist’s perspective the beach is a beautiful, warm place where he can lay around and get a sun tan, enjoy the warm air and clear skies; however, from the resident’s perspective it’s a harsh, hot desert like environment that he must escape. The second example is the view of providing hospitality to a guest. In one scenario the guest is welcomed by the host, given the best by the host and the host actively and willingly engages the guest. In the next scenario the host views the guest as an inconvenience, doesn’t care to interact and can’t wait for the guest to leave. The essay further goes on to describe how The Bahamas is marketed as a “paradise” and how Bahamians didn’t create this idea. In fact, they don’t believe this sells pitch. According to Bethel this is because Bahamians have to deal with the everyday realities and truths that come with being a resident of The Bahamas. For example, the magnificent sunshine that can damage crops, the beautiful seas that can become turquoise graves and the warm white sand on the beaches that can get stuck in our shoes and irritate us (152). Bethel states that marketing The Bahamas as a “paradise” is a wonderful advertising tactic to get tourist to visit; however, she is leery of what...

...United Soccer Club Nicolette Larson was loading the dishwasher with her husband, Kevin, and telling him about the first meeting of the Manchester United Tournament Organizing Committee. Nicolette, a self-confessed "soccer mom," had been elected tournament director and was responsible for organizing the club's first summer tournament. Manchester United Soccer Club (MUSC) located in Manchester, New Hampshire, was formed in 1992 as a way of bringing recreational players to a higher level of competition and preparing them for the State Olympic Development Program and/or high school teams. The club currently has 24 boys and girls (ranging in age from under 9 to 16) on teams affiliated with the Hampshire Soccer Association and the Granite State Girls Soccer League. The club's board of directors decided in the fall to sponsor a summer invitational soccer tournament to generate revenue. Given the boom in youth soccer, hosting summer tournaments has become a popular method for raising funds. MUSC teams regularly compete in three to four tournaments each summer at different locales in New England. These tournaments have been reported to generate between $50,000 and $70,000 for the host club. MUSC needs additional revenue to refurbish and expand the number of soccer fields at the Rock Rimmon soccer complex. Funds would also be used to augment the club's scholarship program, which provides financial aid to players who cannot afford the $450 annual club dues. Nicolette gave her husband a blow-by-blow...

Nicolette Larson is a “soccer mom” of one of the 24 members of the club and she was elected to be the director of the tournament therefore, she will need to organize the club´s first summer tournament. This year MUSC plan to host the soccer tournament because it is an excellent idea in order to gain money and raise funds. There is a problem with this which is that they will need more soccer fields in order to expand Rock Rimmon soccer complex so that they are be able to host everyone What Nicolette Larson did was that she started the process of organizing the situation by making a meeting with the tournament committee and suggested a brainstorm but the meeting did not went as planned because everyone started complaining about different circumstances, different ideas came up, half of the people abandoned the meeting and at the end there was no concrete result because Nicolette ended up with seven sheets full of different ideas and they spent more time on the meeting than they should. ...food harming the environment? Why is our health getting worse? Like million of Americans today; little do they know about the true food industry and the dangers it has provided. Our environment and our health is facing a crisis due to the food industry. It’s time we learn the truth, and the possible solutions to fix these issues. The amount effort being made to create process food is not only harming the environment, but us as well. In the “Carnivore’s Dilemma” (2010) Nicolette Hahn Niman tells us that the studies show only that the prevailing methods of producing meat - that is, crowding animals together in factory farms, storing their waste in giant lagoons and cutting down forest to grow crops to feed them - cause substantial greenhouse gases (169). Knowing that 5 percent of the greenhouse gases are produced by...

...The Netflix original movie, What Happened to Monday, portrays a dystopian world where the government, to combat overpopulation, enacts a single child policy. The government supposedly freezes the children for a later age of prosperity, but Terrence Settman rebuts this and insead raises his seven identical granddaughters with a single identity. This Netflix original covers a wide variety of interesting ideas and topics, but what interested me the most was the portrayal of the European Federation and the Government structure imposed. In the movie’s first few minutes it explains how and why the one child policy, called the, “Child Allocation Act,” came into effect. It explains that Nicolette Cayman, a scientist, head of the Child Allocation Bureau (C.A.B.), and a candidate for parliament, created the...

...Employee Portfolio: Management Plan MGT/311 2015 Instructor: PAUL (TONY) MAHLMEISTER Nicolette Ruise Employee Portfolio: Management Plan The three employees that partook in the self-assessments are: Dexter, Tamara, and Melody. I (the manager) have acknowledged their strengths and weaknesses based on the assessments and I have developed a management plan that will best capitalize on their characteristic. Dexter’s assessment has specified that his job satisfaction rating is below the means. He has shown high engagement, and positive emotions when the assessment was given. Tamara recorded higher than the means. His job performance is up, and has demonstrated high engagement. Dexter also showed positive emotions during the assessment. Melody scored below the means. Her job satisfaction was low, and she is only temperately engaged. She had relatively neutral emotions while taking the assessment. The assessment results for Dexter have revealed that he might be attracted to more deviant behavior. It also seemed that he was negatively influencing others in the workplace. While Dexter and Tamara were highly engaged, this helped tremendously with positivity in performance in the organization. Dexter and Tamara are dedicated to their responsibilities; they are positively motivated, and are fulfilled with their work. Because they both showed positive emotions during their assessments, it will lead to self-confidence. It will also make their enthusiasm for...

...The Spiritual World of the Aztecs Religion can be described as a shared set of fundamental beliefs and practices. “The Aztec religion was a complex set of beliefs, rituals and gods that helped the Aztec/Mexica to make sense of their world, reality and death (Maestri Nicolette, 2013)”. Today, we will explore the famous Aztec world of gods, sacrifice, and magic in an attempt to better understand their culture and worldview. The traditional Aztec religion was on that focused on the services provided by a series of gods, all to whom a debt was owed. The debt was perpetual and came to be when the gods made the decision to sacrifice themselves to enable human life. “Life for humankind was only possible with a moving sun, and this the gods provided. It then became the responsibility of humanity to feed the sun thereafter, lest it stop and the universe stop with it (Holly Peters-Golden, 2012)”. The Aztec’s shared belief in this theory gave rise to a number of traditions and ceremonies involving human sacrifice. These ceremonies were conducted frequently and were often scheduled in accordance with their ritual calendar. These rituals were sacred to the Aztecs and were performed without hesitation or remorse. In every situation, those who were to be sacrificed were held in high regard for their contribution to the continuity of human life entitled them to great honor and the promise of a rewarded afterlife. In addition, the remains of the sacrificed individuals were...
