I have read None of These Diseases in its entirety for this semester for BY 206. None of These Diseases is a book that explains how the Bible lay out certain guidelines that could help mankind maintain and better healthcare. Dr. McMillen and Dr. Stern reveal to people the secrets of health through the Bible. The book is divided into five different sections explaining how diseases affect different areas of life. Diseases affect source, physical, sexual, emotional, and spiritual wholeness. The source of wholeness is the understanding of where a disease came from and how it was spread. Egyptians and doctors used to believe that a wound should rot a little in order to heal. This was the wrong belief. In Exodus the Lord explains that if the people of Israel would not follow the ways of the Egyptians the people would be healed. The Egyptians used to apply manure and worm’s blood to wounds to make it pus. The Egyptians believed in the wrong source of healing. The errors of mankind are clearly shown in history. It was not only in ancient times but also in recent centuries. In May 1847 Vienna, Austria was the leading medical center of the world. One out of six pregnant women die of labor fever on the delivery table. No one knew the mode of transmission of this disease except a doctor by the name of Ignaz Semmelweis. In the 1800s, doctors and nurses did not wash their hands when transferring from the morgue to the delivery room. After submerging their hands in pus and blood during an autopsy, the nurses and doctors would go straight to the delivery rooms without washing their hands. If people just followed the Bible’s principals, the deaths of these women would have been avoided. Numbers 19:11 states, “He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.” The section of physical wholeness explains how people destroy their bodies by false understanding of what they take into their bodies. People did not understand the disasters of drinking, cigarettes, and non-circumcision. Drinking leads to nerve damage, liver damage, heart damage, brain damage, unborn child damage, withdrawal agonies, and sexual disorders. Cigarettes cause lung cancer, shorter life expectancy, emphysema, infertility, and wrinkled skin. Smoking can also spread to other people through secondhand smoking. People smoke because of parental influence, mature image, withdrawal effects, stress, habit, and addiction. People continually destroy their bodies by consuming alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and not following proper procedure of circumcision. Sexual wholeness shows the spread of AIDS and the uprising of sexual diseases as a result of homosexual sin. The source of AIDS was discovered to be spread by a flight attendant. This flight attendant had over one thousand partners in his black book. It was responsible for the first major spread of AIDS. AIDS nowadays is not only seen in homosexuals but also in heterosexuals. This spread may have been avoided if male was with female. Genesis 2:24 states, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Sexual diseases came as a result of homosexual sin and this destroyed sexual wholeness. Emotional wholeness shows how stress, anxiety, and other emotions can bring about disease and changes in the physical body. Stress and different emotions can cause disorders in your digestive system, circulatory system, genito-urinary system, nervous system, glands, allergic, muscles, infections, skin diseases, drug, and caner. Stress and emotions also stimulate the body to respond in different ways. Different emotions will cause changes in blood flow, secretions, and muscle spasms. The emotions of body can bring diseases for the body. Spiritual wholeness explains how not turning to the Lord in time of need leads to diseases that could have been avoided. When a person loses a loved one, it is common to feel sorrow, but prolonged sorrow can lead to depression. Eventually that depression will lead to the thought process influencing the body and causing degradation within the body such as cancer. People who do not trust in the Lord for finances could also lead to physical problems. By overworking themselves, the patients would wear down their bodies. Philippians 2:2-3 states, “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory: but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” It is important to realize that working for glory and power is not the right thing. It is mankind’s duty to trust in the Lord and believe that He will provide for us. None of These Diseases is a must read book for every individual especially Christians. It is a book that will increase one’s faith, and reinforce their beliefs in the Bible. None of These Diseases explains health secrets that are necessary to staying diseased free. Many of the world’s disease could have been prevented if people paid attention to what the Bible was already instructing them to do. None of These Diseases is a book that is very helpful medically and spiritually. Medically it outlines the basic principles of controlling infectious diseases. It helps people maintain and control the spread of diseases. If these principles were applied in earlier years, many disasters and outbreaks could have been prevented. Applying the health secrets provided in this book will benefit people even today. Spiritually it helps a person realize the importance of the Bible and how its truth has been set since ancient times. It may reinforce beliefs in Christians or create beliefs in other people. Many people nowadays believe that the Bible was just written by men, but how could men such as Moses have written this without God. Moses had the Egyptian’s education. He believed the same as the Egyptians believed medically. Egyptians were the medical leaders of their time, but Moses did what God had said. These actions lead to the controlling of diseases while the Egyptians just kept on making it worse. None of Theses Diseases can be a benefit to people medically and spiritually.
