...ritics, record-label hype and American modern-rock radio, which Yorke compares to "a fridge buzzing". This coincides with the soundtrack of the film, with sounds that weave in and out of snatches of interviews, conversations, and songs. Along with this "radio wave" effect is a series of edits and quickly moving shots with stills, slow tracking shots, time-lapse photography, and colour/black-and-white film and video. The documentary opens with video taken from the back of a subway train, along with the track "Fitter Happier" from OK Computer. This cuts to the band members reading off several dozen radio intros. Interspliced with the promotional material is live footage taken from various venues around the world, including the song "Karma Police" on Late Show with David Letterman. Included in the documentary are various video clips of television appearances, newspaper articles, and other mentions of Radiohead in the media. In a clip from a Sky News programme, presenter Kay Burley comments on the video for the band's song "No Surprises", saying "Music to cut your wrists to. [...] It's the most miserable-sounding tune I've ever heard." While watching the video, the programme's music reviewer quips "You'll probably quite enjoy it because he actually drowns at the end". The making of the video is then shown, where frontman Thom Yorke is lip-synching while trapped in a tank of rising water.[2] The world tour that is the subject of the film has subsequently been admitted as a...

...1.If you were a member of the board of directors during the time of the Ok Tedi operations, would you have been in favor of implementing a social accounting and reporting regime in the company? If I was a member of the board of directors during the time of Ok Tedi operations, I would have been in favor of implementing a social accounting and reporting regime in the company. As social accounting is always a beneficial method for a company to maximize their profit and organizational image. Social accounting allows to see where improvements can be made so that an organization can better achieve their aims and values. It provides a continuous record of how effectively organization has developed and changed. Social accounting and reporting would help the Ok Tedi Mining company by giving feedback on how things are going from the range of people involved in the organization. As the 97% workers at the company are PNG inhabitants, it would be easy to look over them fulfill their basic needs and values. Social accounting would also identify the areas where things are working well and where not. To improve organization’s policy and perception ,it is a very appreciable way. Social accounting would help Ok Tedi Mining to work accordance with legal way and social values. Company’s decision would be more just and equitable to less powerful stakeholders. The company would meet the social responsibility and get a good organizational image from the society. The company was...

These groups will be formed by the week starting Monday 10th February so you can start to think about who will be in the group immediately. You must inform us as to who your group members are. ...going to accomplish this, something else had to be done. Once decided, it was time to invest in an education, which would also take time and dedication. This new path would consist of differentiating what was a must and was a need. Even though one may face challenges, learning the importance of personal responsibility and what it means, personal responsibility versus college success, and incorporating it into one’s education will lead to a rewarding career. The characteristics of personal responsibility can be defined in many ways. The fact or state of being responsible, holding oneself accountable for something within one’s power, control or management, is the definition of personal responsibility. This can pertain to personal life, work and academic environment, and finances. As a marine, the importance of personal responsibility was one of the biggest issues addressed. In the process, it taught me more about myself. I learned the commitments of having a family and serving my country. “Semper Fidelis!” as the Marine Corp would say meaning always faithful. The morals and values they have instilled reflect in my everyday life. However, at times situations become difficult, and it can cause any one to lose sight of what is important and their integrity. This is the outcome of the hardships when raising a family and trying to satisfy the needs of one self. This is why it is important to understand personal responsibility as a whole. Responsibility and college success...

...Essays and the Work Environment Craig Woods University of Phoenix Business Literature ENG/120 Paul Renaud October 13, 2013 Essays and the Work Environment Frustration was the perspective that I found in the “Jobbed” and “McDonald’s – We Do it all for you” essays. Each essay had at least one character that dealt with some degree of frustration. It was enough to affect their decision making. Andrew Griffin from the “Jobbed” essay was accused of stealing ball bearings. He quotes “Worked nine years for the man and he still don’t trust me.” Andrew packed his tools and left. Trust was his frustration. He could have stolen half the warehouse out the backdoor. He never went beyond his 30 minute lunch break. Jason Pratt and June Sanders is frustrated with the treatment they received working for McDonald’s. Jason is a retired griddle man. June worked on the fries. Jason’s frustration came from having no creativity on the job. He is treated as a machine. The beeps and bells from the griddle told him what to do. He is known as a legend with the other outlets in the area. Jason is the fastest griddle man around. On his last day, Jason took out the trash. Instead of coming back, he got into a car with his friends and drove off. He never came back. “I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO McDONALD’S,” said Jason. June’s frustration is her schedule and unpaid training. June is a college student staying with family. She worked one day at McDonald’s. Her schedule was from 4p.m. to 10p.m.She was pleased...

...Interview Project My person of choice to interview for this project was my mother. She has personally in business for well over 15 years. She is talented and knows what she is doing through and through, and has helped lead her team to the top many times. My mother Jill works as an area manager for SunTrust in the Charlotte area. I decided to pick her, not only to have someone to interview, but also to get to know her on a more personal level and to see personally how she truly feels about what she does. I set up the interview via email. It becomes difficult trying to get together and be able to sit down and personally conduct the interview when she is out and about working. I attempt to visit as often as I can, but there are some nights that she doesn’t get home until really late. She was welcome and willing to do it, and her answers gave me more of an insight of what she really does. Here are the following questions, as well as answers. 1.) a. How do you measure success? In many ways… as a leader I measure success by how well my team achieves various key measures. My personal success is when my team is considered successful by others. b. Where does that measurement stand now? Currently we are exceeding key metrics and a majority of the 18 branches I lead are at or above target for the 4th quarter. c. What actions are you taking to change the measurement(s) (in the right direction)? My goal is to have all branches achieve their goals so for those that are not at...

...1. Explain how you would respond if you were Peter at the end of the case. If I were Peter I would feel very disenchanted with the company at the end of this case. To be forced to work with a subpar team member for several months who had shown poor performance and cause my project to run behind, only to then be told that not only were they going to remove him from my project and leave me shorthanded it was him who got to make the decision. My response to Sands would be one that expressed my concern for the image that may be presented by allowing this to be the way that business is conducted. Since it is standard practice to have junior associates assigned to more than one project as at a time, by allowing him to choose the project that he’s “more interested” in may lead to other jr. associates to put forth less than stellar work in the projects that they are not interested in doing in the hopes that they will be able to not do that work. Also I would advise them that while Springfield account is important the Johnsonville account is equal as important and we maybe sending a message to the client that we do not value their business as much since we are taking people off their account to put them on other accounts. Thirdly I would remind her that he was initially assigned to work on the Johnsonville account and that his participation in the Springfield account was consented to with assurance that it would not be an issue, and that I would like them to take in this in...

...with his parents and when he got a transfer to Delhi he didn’t waste a single moment in saying yes to the new project and heading towards Delhi. Many of his friends were also moving out from Bangalore at the same time which only made his decision easier. He felt that the XYZ project offered better career prospects as it was a new project and he was offered to work on the current technologies that were in demand in the market. He was sure he would excel in his new position at ABC Ltd, just as he had done as a trainee. He joined as Assistant Systems Manager with a handsome pay hike for becoming a confirmed employee of the company. The company also had international operations and there was more than a slim chance that he would be sent to USA or UK on a project. Knowing that this would give him a lot of exposure, besides looking good on his resume, he was quite excited about the new job. I joined Ashish Bansal's six-member team in the company. He had met Ashish during the interview sessions, and was looking forward to working under him. His team members seemed warm and friendly, and comfortable with their work. He introduced myself to the team members and got to know more about each of them. Wanting to know more about his boss, he casually asked one of his team members about...

... In my personal life I enjoy helping people and stepping where I have seen or felt I was needed. I have become a communicator and am not afraid to speak up, as I may have been a number of years back. I feel that if we do not speak up then there is no room for complaints. I get very involved in areas of interest and at times this may be misconstrued as being too aggressive. I have been described as “type A” and OCD but it may be true since giving my all does not allow me to fail or make mistakes. This is a fault and something I work on and try not to project on others. I do expect people however to be respectful of deadlines if we are working together towards a goal and within a team. I do feel it is important to acknowledge others and the work they have put in when you have benefited from it. This may come from my passion of sports and once having been part of sports teams. When games are won it’s not only one person taking home the trophy. We all work hard together in order to win together. My skillsets have improved since being here at JIU. I research many of the topics that are not familiar to me. When something is somewhat familiar I will still do extra reading or research to make sure I fully understand before I put into my own thought. My writing has improved as well; when it is a big paper to turn I will use Smart Thinking to obtain feedback on changes. I have had problems lately with return time so I will be looking into...

You are not alone; nearly everyone who is employed has experienced those feelings at one time or another in their life. The world, in which we live, is fast paced and ever changing. Companies have grown increasingly demanding and as a result the workload has increased while the workforce has not. As less people are used in the work force the workload is ever increasing. The stress at work can eventually spill over into all aspects of that person’s life thus causing more damage and further issues. The key is to recognize the stress and the impact it has and use the best way to manage stress while still being able to adapt to a changing working environment. Recognizing the Stress In order to solve any issue, we must first acknowledge the problem and then understand what is causing us to have that problem. Stress can creep up on anyone; it can remain un-detected for quite some time. Our body is a wonderfully constructed marvel of engineering brilliance. More often than not, when something goes wrong, there are warning signs exhibited. While it is very common to have busy days at work, there is a difference between being busy and being stressed. The various signs of stress may include frequent headaches, stomachaches, elevated blood pressure, lack of sleep, depression, and many other symptoms. There are a multitude of things that can contribute...
