...Solving Personal Problems The personal problem I possess, indecisive choice to either move back to New York or stay in Atlanta. I want to stay in Atlanta, but it seems like I’m unhappy here. Even though the schools are great and the cost of living is very low and reasonable, but there no jobs and I need a car for everything, and I don’t have one at the moment. Now after going through the problem solving methods, I came to realize what actually cause my unhappiness. I miss being able to make moves when I want to and miss my family. The options I came up with, is too move back but in a suburban area or just visit often when I save up enough money. If I move back I would have to move into a shelter once I get to New York. Oppose to, if I stay in Atlanta I can save up enough for a car, then work on finding a job that I will like, and also gives me the training necessary for my degree. After an extensive evaluation, I chose to stay in Atlanta. I believe, that I can prosper and go further while staying here. I’m going to stop listening to everyone and just go for it. I will act on my decision and give myself another year to see if I’m where I want to be. With the problem solving model, I feel myself becoming a problem solver, because I have learned to evaluate and work toward problem solving...

...Solving Personal Problems: Applying the Five-Step Model J Gonzales April 25, 2016 The objective is to control the problem and not allow the problem to control you. To productively manage a situation you have to practice using the 5-step model. The first step in the 5-step model is pinning the problem. The second step is establish your options. The third step is determine the advantages and disadvantages of each option. The fourth step is electing the solution you feel best suits. The fifth step is evaluating if the solution chosen is effective (John Chaffee, 2014). In week 2, we discussed barriers and learned to identify them to rid ourselves from them. This was a great lesson however, from personal experience I can tell you that it takes more than just identifying the problems to make change. In recent years, I went through a divorce and a change in careers that have forced me to sit and examine my finances. I have set goals, time and time again, to save X amount of money each year for my children's college fund and have created spreadsheets on how I can accomplish this. While it looked great on paper and the system appeared solid, I always came up short on my goals and I realized that other areas of my finances were also being affected. After studying critical thinking and the five-step model the last couple of weeks, I discovered that the first step to fulfill my goal (s) was to identify the problem. The problem is me. I have failed to take full responsibility for my...

...PUBLIC ISSUES AND PERSONAL PROBLEMS Most of the time, we don’t think of problems we go through as social issues, but when we compare ourselves to others we can see that many of the everyday problems of average people occur on a larger basis in our country. Some are easier to spot such as unemployment, even though it affects each person laid off once the rates get to a certain point it is obvious that the rates are due to economical factors not the characteristics of each individual (Mills 1). I have found that a problem that is becoming more evident in our daily life is a growing use of dangerous supplements in teenage athletes. When I was thirteen I started in my first school sport. I became a runner. I fell in love with the sport. As I grew older it was something that dominated my life on and off the mat. I often found myself in class wishing I were running. Naturally as I became older I also became more a competitive athlete, as did the rest of my friends that ran or played any high school sport for that matter. Talk of being a competitor at state championships or who was favored at the next match often filled the hallways. Generally this competition appeared a good thing to me. I was a better athlete because of that competition. Being a runner I often heard people talk about “why would you do that to your body?” referring to dropping weight. At first the idea seemed absurd. The conversations with others about what supplements I was taking or not taking took place almost...

...Unemployment among Florida residence & Mortgage Foreclosure Unemployment is an issue in the United States and has become a growing concern over the past few years. Certain states have reported higher rates than others. The economy has forced many companies to shut down or reduce workforce, which resulted in leaving highly educated people without a job. Some of the unemployed people are considered to be over-qualified for jobs where employers are not able to offer high salary, leaving the unemployed jobless for a long time. The issue has caused a negative effect on the economy. The unemployment issue is blamed for the high rate in mortgage foreclosure. When a property is mortgaged, the bank holds the property as collateral on the loan. If the homeowner fails to pay the loan, the bank can take legal action to claim ownership of the home. This action is referred to as a foreclosure. Many homeowners depended on two incomes to manage the monthly bills. The lost wages from an unemployed spouse can create extreme financial hardship, which affects holding on to a home mortgage. With limited choice, these families are forced to walk away from their homes. These once highly skilled workers spend many months, even over a year looking for employment. Usually a bank will give the homeowners a little time to catch up on the missed payments. Eventually, the lender of the home mortgage will step in and foreclose the property after the home owners default on their payments. My proposal will...

...Blood Knot Essay. In Blood Knots, Mallory Burton develops the idea that an individual’s personal problems must be dealt with otherwise it will affect them in negative way. Unless personal problems are kept under control, a person's chances of achieving career and personal success diminish. She was going through grief when her father died. Mallory and her dad were the only people who loved to fish. She wanted to go on fishing on the day of funeral as her mother was handling everything fine. Later on she went for fishing with the gear that her dad had as it was cool and stunning looking gear. Later on in the end she didn’t even come for the funeral of her dad. She wanted to go on fishing on the day of funeral as her mother was handling everything fine. At first her mother denied for letting her go for fishing alone and said that i told you maybe to go for a walk. At the same her neighbour was also there and she also saw the beautiful gear that was owned by Mallory’s Father. The neighbour also insisted her to let her go for fishing or else she will also be sad if she sits in a house for the whole day. For some time her mother didn't let her go and said that instead of going fishing prepare for the funeral. When her neighbour...

In writing a paper about all three of them individually, identify the consequences of the actions taken, and then determine whether the actions taken represented a greater good, who would benefit from the good, and whether the consequences ethically justify the decisions and actions. ...organizational features, based on personal interviews and obervations. They also examined the organizational mission statements, records, rules, regulations and policies in order to gain information about the unit’s structure. Since Erica was a former student manager at the dining unit couple of years ago, she took over the interviews with the employees because it was easier for them to speak with a familiar face than a complete stranger. But here the question arises of whether or not she is going to be objective or bias. Their data collection process begins with interviews with those from whom data will be collected. The problem with the interviews was that they were not structured, there were different questions asked to each employee and there is no means of any comparison whatsoever. The OD consultants in this case went in the organization with open-ended questions, which was a problem with the data collection. The process of data gathering is inefficient. How should the feedback session be designed? First of all the OD consultants have to ask themselves whats the point of giving Drew any feedback whatsoever when he is leaving the unit within five months. Even so, the feedback section should be designed in terms of importance. The design should contain specificity, timeliness, and manner. The OD consultants should start with identifying the biggest problems within the organization. The structure - The structure of the organization contributed to the problems that Drew perceived...

He returned to school following his dream as it was never crumbled by an almost fatal attack from a stranger. At the time the counselor met Steve, he was beginning to understand his career. He knew the responsibilities it came with but was never too used to telling people to do something they felt out of their comfort zone. The things I believe that the counselor has learned from Steve were struggling with the fear of being a new student on campus and that could be the result of his problem. He assumes automatically that Steve’s problem stems from the fear of being a new student in campus though the problems are actually based on a larger scale (Woodside, 2011). The counselor, I believe, has learn a couple of things from Steve like the fact that, a counselor cannot be a travel guide on such deeply personal journeys such as Steve’s, he can only serve as a special travel companion who is willing to understand and respect the process of walking along sacred life path (Woodside,...

...review of the case and data from the textbook, the group begins the storming stage. “The storming stage of team development is a period of high emotionality and tension among the group members. During this stage, hostility and infighting may occur, and the team typically experiences many changes” (Schermerhorn, 2010). Noticeably, hostility and fighting came from Mike and his perceptions about how the group was excluding him from meetings, which wasn’t an accurate perception. One could determine that if Mike would participate in the workload he could become a viable player in the team. Mike hasn’t performed to the degree as other group members have because of personal problems. Part II: Problem Identification There are many problems associated with the details provided in this case. However, the primary problem is a lack of effective communication between the team leader, Christine and a team member, Mike. Mike feels he is being left out when it comes to important decisions being made by the group. It seems that...

...may appear in the Performing stage because the other team members were handling their part of the paper, the professor advised the team that they must deal with the problems within the group first. Christine skipped the Forming stage and based her opinion of her team mates on what she observed about them. Had she got to know them by meeting with them together or one on one, she could have gotten to see if her observation were accurate. It would have also given the team am insight on any outside issues that may affect the team. There was also no relationship with the entire team. Problem Identification The team was aware there was a problem with Mike’s participation (already identified as a clown based on Christine’s observation), but he was approached about his behavior and lack of contribution to the team. Christine may have been an organized hard working student, but she seems to lack skills in dealing with conflict. It became a big deal to Mike when he assumed that the team was meeting without him. Even after explaining the impromptu get together Mike still believed what his eyes saw and distanced himself again. Any of the team members could have reached out to Mike to get him to understand. There was clearly hostility within the team and it was coming from one source. This made it apparent that the problems were getting worse and the team’s project was at stake if nothing was to change about Mike’s behavior. Retrospective Evaluation The disconnection between the...

...about how their personal work and the work of the other team members contribute to the project. Towards the end, the group is now in the storming stage. The storming stage is described as a period of high emotion and tension among group members. During this stage, the group may experience uncomfortable pressures and efforts are made to find ways to accomplish team goals while also satisfying individual needs. I believe the group is now in this stage because a difficult member by the name of Mike has not been showing up to group meetings and has only turned in rough handwritten notes. Because Mike has been social loafing, this will cause the group to express emotions about the situation which will cause tension among the group. The group will then realized that because the lack of Mike’s efforts, they will have to come together to do his work. If Christine, the team leader, would have understood the stages of development, she would have realized that her team was not developing at the pace they should have been. She would have recognized the issues at a time where it could have been easier to resolve. The primary problem that Christine faced was being elected team coordinator and not following up on what it takes to be a group leader. Christine should have been self-aware of the behaviors, preferences, styles, biases, and personalities of the other team members. By doing this, she would have isolated the issues initially before they become a bigger problem. The second...
