Respond to the following based on your critical thinking analysis of the “Common Core” and “The Battle Against Common Core Standards” readings.

1) Define the term conclusion.
The claim that an argument tries to establish as true; what the arguer is trying to prove to the audience. The conclusion is supported by the argument's premises. Critical thinking requires a strange blend of humility and confidence. On one hand, you must overcome the natural human instinct to defend anything you believe. On the other hand, the powerful tools of thought you now have in your mental toolkit will allow you sift through the detritus of the world's knowledge and come to your own conclusions (Wiggins, 2014).

2) What is the conclusion of each article?
The conclusion in the article “The Battle against Common Core Standards” in which the argument is made that the education system and nation has suffered due to the low expectations of new college students and lawmakers should not consider giving more power to the executive community.

3) Define the term premises.
A premise is a claim offered as evidence to support an argument’s conclsion. Premises has to be accurate Statements offered as reasons to support a conclusion are premises. Logicians generally pay more attention to the reasoning, that is, the relationship between premises and conclusion. They rely on scientists to determine the accuracy of the premises (Eldridge, 2001).
