...that rights aren’t always absolute, the line should be drawn line on where to call actions taken by the government tyrannical, and separate those that are justified. If someone calls 911 and report a bomb threat at a government building and there isn’t yes they should get punished. But if someone is just simply stating their opinion they shouldn’t lose their right. Recently your officers and agent have come to the city of Pompano Beach which happens to be my hometown and forcing people out of their homes against their will, saying it was for their own safety. Mr. President I’m sure you’re familiar with this 4th amendment and you would notice this is a huge violation of the people’s rights. Yes there might have been a few houses that was flooded but that doesn’t excuse them for telling people that it’s mandatory for them to leave their homes. Even if there was danger near you can’t force anyone to leave their homes, you can warn them and suggest they leave their homes but you can’t force them to leave their houses. Another issue the people of Pompano Beach are facing is the agents won’t allow legally owned firearms inside of the storm shelters. Because they own the firearms legally this is a violation of their constitutional right. If the shelters were privately and one of the rules were “People aren’t allowed to have firearm” then I would understand but the shelters are run by the government then the people should be allowed carry whatever they have on them including a firearm...

...Organisation Amendment Bill 2011which broadened the criminal intelligence provisions and sought to avoid any High Court challenges that both SA and NSW had previously faced. However these provisions they amended in the new legislation led to serious concerns from the legal profession who believe that they are ‘contrary to the rule of law principles and deny fundamental rights to citizens who come within purview of the legislation’ (Nicholas Cowdery, 2013). After a shooting that took place in Robina Town Centre resulting in a double homicide, Queensland Police Commissioner made an application to declare the Gold Coast branch of the Finks Motor Cycle Club, in the case of Assistant Police Commissioner Michael James Condon v Pompano (2013) HCA 7. Mr Pompanos lawyers argued that the amended provisions of the Act were invalid and unconstitutional as they denied procedural fairness, however in the end the High Court backed the validity of the amended provisions, stating that ‘it does not impair the essential characteristics of the Supreme Court’ (Wayne Gleeson, 2013). Despite the comments made against the many legal flaws of this legislation the Act still stands. During 2013 the very controversial Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act (VLAD) was passed through QLD Parliament in an attempt to increase public safety and ‘disestablish’ associations that encouraged serious criminal offences. However the constitutional validity of this Act is often questioned considering...

... My personal and professional values are congruent to social work and the NASW Code of Ethics. One of the values is my self-determination to promote social justice and social change on behalf of the clients. I would like to highlight how important this value is to me because this was one of the reasons that motivated me to pursue this career, which is not related to any other educational experience that I may be taking interest in right now. Prior to pursuing my education at Florida Memorial University I was working as a tutor and did a bit of volunteering at the Broward County School Board after School Program, which further developed my interest for social justice. On my second day of volunteering at Cypress Elementary School in Pompano Beach, Florida, I encountered an epiphany as I was waiting in one of my kid’s class room. I realized that social work was my vocation. I was able to foresee myself doing something related to this population, which would challenge my skills. I saw a need of sincere and passionate people like myself in this type of setting in where a lot of children had adapted parents and a few that were also in and out of foster care. Oppression has always bother me because I find it unfair that a lot of people, especially children are not treated with dignity and respect as they should instead many people take advantage of them for profitable purposes. Another example of my self-determination is as a tutor I always offered my services free of charge; if...

...Prepared by: Brian S. Sheridan Course: BIOL181: Life in the Oceans Assignment: Written Assignment 1 – The Spanish Mackerel Date: 02/18/2012 Physical Description and Habitat - In the Atlantic Ocean there are three fish groups of Mackerel. The (Scomberomorus maculatus) or more commonly referred to as the Spanish mackerel are “mid-level pelagic carnivores” (noaa.gov) that have closely related cousins. The other types of mackerel that are related to the Spanish are the larger but less spotted King mackerel (Scomberomorus cavalla) - and the (Scomberomorus regalis) known as the Cero mackerel. All types of mackerel are migratory pelagic fish. They inhabit, feed and spawn in areas of the Atlantic spanning from the Gulf of Mexico to Northern parts of the eastern United States. Although there are subtle differences between the three types, this paper will focus mainly on the Spanish mackerel. The male and female Spanish mackerels vary in size. The male usually averages out to a length of about nineteen inches while the larger sized female mackerel can grow as long as thirty three inches (Wikipedia). The Spanish mackerel’s are a stunningly colored fish. They are mainly silver from its head to tail, however the upper back almost glows green, while its sides have layered yellow spots, standing out further due to its mainly black shaded dorsal fin and tail. Mainly looking for prey the mackerel tends to stay in shallower water, sometimes noticed snorkelers and...

...Understanding and Coping with Change Stephanie Anderson BUS610 Organizational Behavior Instructor: Shawna Wentlandt August 19, 2013 We live in exhilarating times. Western civilization is witnessing the greatest changes everywhere since the Industrial Revolution. If we want a deeper understanding of the prospect of change, we are forced to pay heed to our own powerful inclinations to avoid change. Most people have a low tolerance for change because we are individuals of habit that follow mindless daily routines. In nature, growth involves periodic accelerations and transformations. Initially, things appear to progress slowly. Nothing seems to occur when suddenly, an egg shell cracks, a blossom blooms, or a butterfly emerges. In fact, when it comes to forces of nature, the most widely addressed and studied topic is what physicists call entropy – the process by which dynamic systems that include (a) people, (b) organizations, (c) automobiles, and (d) solar systems, gradually fall apart. It is hard to make significant changes in any human group without changing an individual’s behavior and the underlying meaning that gives rise to their behavior (Kegan & Lahey, 2001). Once change does occur, it is inevitably disruptive. The fact is Americans in general have always been in some state of transition with Old World families that can be traced back to the home of their ancestors. New destinations and new career opportunities keep people moving driven by faith...
