Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay, 2010
One of California’s most glorious Chardonnays is the Newton Chardonnay Unfiltered. This is another wine that has the capacity in certain vintages to evolve for 8-10 years. Notes of honeysuckle, poached pear, brioche, and white currants are present in this wine, which also exhibits some citrus oil and a subtle influence of new oak. Full-bodied, fleshy, and rich, with super purity and stature, this is a gorgeous Chardonnay that should drink nicely for years.

Ruinart Blanc de Blanc, NV
From the oldest dedicated Champagne house (1729) this flagship 100% Chardonnay is produced entirely from premier cru fruit taken from the best of recent vintages. Made predominantly from estate vineyards in Sillery and Brimont, aged a minimum of 36 months, it is brilliant both in the glass and on the tongue.
A classic Chardonnay with fine effervescence, brief suggestion of almond, gentle toastiness and great length.

Moet Grand Vintage, 2004
Only the 70th vintage released since 1842, the 2004 is elegant, graceful and sleek. On the nose there is a precise bouquet of white peach, lemon and pineapple, with herbal tea notes complimented by honeysuckle and sweet spice. On the palate are complex notes of rhubarb and grapefruit with supple mineral overtones. 38% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 29% Pinot Munier.

Dom Perignon 2003
The bouquet spirals through sweet, bright floral notes and the lively minerality so typical of Dom Pérignon, then notes of candied fruit, plants, the incredible freshness of camphor leaf and finally the dark hints of spices and liquorice root. The wine is currently still physical. It is compelling, tactile and vibrant rather than aromatic. The rhythm and tempo are more dominant than the melody. At first mild and delicate, then strongly, confidently mineral, persistent, precise, with a refined bitterness, and an iodine, saline tang.

Chalone Vineyard Estate Chardonnay, 2009
Capturing the distinctive characteristics of our unique terroir, our Estate Chardonnay holds fragrant aromas of ripe pear, green apple, hazelnut, vanilla and baking spice. Bright fruit flavors glide across a lithe and supple midpalate, balanced by toasty oak and a creamy texture. The vineyard's limestone soils leave a distinct footprint with a crunchy rock minerality that persists through the middle and holds the finish.

Acacia Vineyard Chardonnay, 2011
Cool temperatures, dense clay soils and extended hangtime on the vine all combine to yield Chardonnay grapes of rare power and complexity. Gentle handcrafting brings out the full expression of this special terroir, for wines with layered varietal character over silky texture.

Matrot Meursault Charmes 1er Cru, 2009
A restrained though richly fruited nose displays notes of very ripe yellow orchard fruit and hints of white peach, citrus and pear aromas. There is excellent richness to the full-bodied, naturally sweet and superbly complex flavors that display more minerality than usual along with outstanding dry extract levels that completely buffer the firm acid spine. This well-balanced and mouth coating effort is really quite striking and delivers grand cru persistence.

Ruinart Rose, NV
There's a smoky undertow to this lively rosé, mixing with hints of ripe black cherry, guava, biscotti and spice. Elegant overall thanks the fine balance and detailed, creamy texture. Drink now through 2017. 2,083 cases made. –AN

Veuve Clicquot Gold Label Reserve, 2004
This fresh Champagne offers a lively bead and a smoky, mineral-tinged base note. Flavors of poached apple and pear, dried cherry, bread dough and lemon zest lead to a finish of good intensity and length. Very zesty. Drink now through 2022. –AN

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2004
Exceptional weather conditions in September brought all the grapes to optimum ripeness. The resulting wines were ideal for a La Grande Dame Declaration. After the harvest, the wines were matured in chalk cellars for a minimum of eight years to allow for the perfect development of the Cuvee. This wine has a fine, complex fragrance, blending sweetness and nobility. Smooth and silky in the mouth, the 2004 La Grande Dame shows remarkable balance with a fresh, harmonious finish.

Domaine Vocoret et Fils Chablis, 2009
The Vocoret family has been growing vines for over four generations. The vineyard is on clay-chalk hillsides, which today covers fifty hectares, where the most famous grapes in Chablis are harvested. In the cellars, vinification is still carried out traditionally and bottling takes place exclusively on the property. Fresh and light, aromas and flavors develop quickly. On the palate lovely citrus tones, chalky, hints of limestone, apple, and overall well-balanced with some nice acidity on the finish.

Auvigue Puilly Fuisse ‘Solutre,’ 2010
A blending of different vineyards from Solutré Village, the grapes are hand-harvested when fully ripe and pressed immediately by pneumatic press. The juice then go through static settling. Only clear juices are vinified - 90% in stainless steel tanks and 10% in 1 to 3 years old barrels. With a golden green robe, its delicate aromas are fruity, reminiscent of hazelnut, white flowers, rich and round in mouth.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2012
The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc opens with intense grapefruit, passion fruit and green mango notes and touches of pineapple and fresh sage. Medium-bodied with a fair amount of viscosity to the texture, it has lively acid and a long finish. The inclusion of barrel ferment in very small quantities is once again a subtle feature in the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. This parcel has a very special subtle effect. There are no oak aromas or flavors but it wraps some flesh around the wine’s crisp, acid spine. Winemaker, Tim Heath, confidently suggests, “This year has the potential to be one of the most exciting wines we have made over the last ten years.”
Drinking well now, it should keep to 2014+.

Analysis: Avoiding Sibling Rivalry After Birth

...Avoiding Sibling Rivalry After Birth By Dave Ouma Mar 12, 2012 After all the pain of going through pregnancy and birth, there finally comes a time when a mother has to take her child home to meet her new brothers and sisters. Many mothers feel confused as they do not really know who to create a fuss over. Do they fuss over the new child or do they fuss over an older child? The best way for a mother to get around this situation is to preplan for the arrival of the new baby at home. If possible, the mother should have another adult at home to hold the new baby so that you can give the other child some much needed attention. If a mother notices that the older child seems to be very interested with the new child, a mother should help him to get a closer glimpse of the baby. Typically, the older child will automatically start comparing how big he is and how tiny the new born baby is. If by any chance the older child does appear to be interested with the new baby, do not be overwhelmed. He may just need some time to adjust to the new brother or sister. Also if the new born baby is fast asleep he may not generate much interest for the older child. It may be a good idea as well to give the older child a gift when he or she initially meets...

Cultural Relativism Study Guide

...emotional, intellectual, and rational mindset and ultimately your morals would decipher what your next action is. 4. Oppression, according to Marilyn Frye: Oppression is defined as unjust treatment or no control. Marilyn Frye describes oppression as “a system of interrelated barriers and forces which reduce, immobilize, and mold people who belong to a certain group and effect their subordination to another group”. Frye believed people were limited and many times less than free. There have been many examples in history of oppression. A clear example would be when certain societies look at women as property. There, the women are oppressed. 5. Hard Determinism vs. Compatibilism: Hard determinism is the belief that a universal cause law preplans every human action for a reason. Free will is not an option in hard determinism. Many philosophers, like Sigmund Freud, believed in hard determinism. In opposition to hard determinism was soft determinism, otherwise known as compatibilism. Compatibilism is the belief that free will and determinism can be compatible. Cause and freedom can affect our human actions. An example of hard determinism vs. compatibilism would be in many court cases when the verdict of the criminal sentence is decided. When criminals claim their actions were out of their control and instead of jail time they get psychiatric help. 6. Virtue for Aristotle: Aristotle believed a virtuous person would be someone with morals represented through their character traits...

Nims Compliance

...(ICS) ICS provides a standardized incident response preplanning that is on-scene and caters for all hazards. ICS is based on a flexible and scalable response to hazards that can expand or contract as the need arises. At the scene of the incident, responders may come from multiple agencies that do not normally work together but can work efficiently due to the standardization of ICS (Porter 21). There are two classifications of ICS activities. These are incident and events. Incidents are the unplanned situations that necessitate response from various parties. Incidences include terrorism, natural disasters, and hazardous material spills. On the other hand, events are planned situations. Events require the emergency responders to preplan how to respond to emergencies. Some examples of events include parades, inaugurations, parties, concerts, and other state fairs. In ICS, all individuals participating in the operations report to only one supervisor. This helps in eliminating conflicting orders to the individuals (Porter 21). This greatly aids in improving the efficiency of the activities especially if the emergency responders have to expand them. Main Components of NIMS Preparedness Effective emergency management activities should have preparedness activities that are continuously undertaken prior to any potential incident. NIMS focus on five elements of preparedness: “planning; procedures and protocols; training and exercises; personnel, qualification, licensure...

Supervision and Its Integral Part

...Discipline as an integral part of effective supervision 1. Discipline in terms of supervision In terms of supervision, discipline must be referred to as a set of instructions given to the subordinate employee. It makes the subordinates learn all the instructions, which are required in order to provide successful work performance. The inability to follow such instructions results in certain “penalties” for the individual. Each organization has its own disciplinary code aimed to maintain the order within the organization. Discipline may be analyzed as the attempt to model the conduct of the subordinates in accordance with the peculiarity of a given organization. It actually shapes the behavior which is considered to be acceptable by the supervisors. Improper professional conduct may result in various negative consequences especially when it deals with police supervision as misconduct may lead even to death. Discipline in terms of effective police supervision is achieved through coaching, mentoring and counseling of subordinates and is controlled through a set of penalties. The major task of the supervisory discipline is to form the subordinate’s self-discipline and therefore secure the work process (Ianonne, 2000). All the disciplinary procedures used to reinforce the importance of the disciplinary code of the given organization deal with making the individual committed to a certain type of actions during his work hours. Discipline also plays an essential role in the formation...

Effectice Communication in Crisis

...Effective Communication in Crisis Holly L. Clerkin HCS/320 Abstract Today, you are the director of a regional Emergency Management Office. You begin receiving official reports that the public water supplies of several towns in the area have become contaminated with a life-threatening biological agent. Contingency plans must be addressed within the organization and with the public without creating a panic. The following paper is my plan of action. Effective Communication in Crisis It is absolutely essential, pre-crisis, to establish notification systems that will allow you to rapidly reach your intended audience using multiple modalities. The Virginia Tech campus shooting catastrophe, where email was the sole means of alerting students initially, proves that using any single modality can make a crisis worse. Some of us may be on email constantly, others not so. Some of us receive our cellphone calls or messages quickly, some not. If you use more than one modality to reach your stakeholders, the chances are much greater that the message will go through. (Bernstein, 2013) To have effective communication in time of crisis, our organization has implemented plans that allow us to effectively deal with the situation, the media and those that are effected. With the use of all forms of media, as well as documented known conditions we hold a strong belief that we can correct this current situation. It has come to the attention of the county and this office of the Emergency...

...Should the NFL Expand into Mexico? The NFL generates roughly $9.2 billion in revenue each year (Boudway 2014), but like most American companies it must find a way to expand its brand internationally. All thirty two of the NFL’s teams currently operate within the United States, though three games a year are played at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. Expanding football globally presents a challenge to the NFL because the game is not widely played throughout the world. While its television contracts of $7 million per year (Kottasova 2014) remain the world’s most lucrative, interest and participation outside the United States is much smaller than other sports. While it is agreed upon that the NFL needs to expand globally to continue to grow its business, they are presented with several options as to how to accomplish this. The current arrangement of playing several games a year overseas has been in place since 2007, and the NFL seems content to continue this practice. Some believe that the NFL ultimately wants to permanently move a franchise to a foreign country, with London, Toronto, and Mexico City being discussed as potential destinations. Despite last playing a game in Mexico City in 2005, the city presents an intriguing variety of opportunities and threats to the NFL. I believe that these threats outweigh the opportunities and the NFL should look into alternative strategies to capitalize on the growth of the Hispanic market. Like many American companies, the NFL would...

Professional Presence and Influence

...Professional Presence and Influence - YOT Task 1 Model of Health and Healing Mind- Body-The second era of medicine according to Dr. Dossey (n.d), from approximately 1950 to 1990, focuses on the discovery that one’s mental ailments are related to physical ailments. In this era the practitioners combined the treatment of conditions outside of obvious injuries and subjective information, unlike in the previous era which didn’t include the idea that the mind effects the body. In era II alternative treatments like hypnosis, biofeedback, relaxation techniques, imagery and counseling began to be incorporated into the treatment of the whole body. Mind -Body- Spirit-This is the third era, where Dr. Dossey (n.d.) proposes that consciousness is not limited to a being’s body. He suggests that an individual’s actions and intentions not only affects his or her own body but may also have an impact on that of another, at a distance, even though that other person is not cognizant of the effort (Dossey, n.d.). This awareness of intrapersonal relationships stands in contrast to past medical practices in that it now takes into account the influences outside of the patient and becomes an important part of treatment and outcome. With this knowledge, practitioners began to see the wholeness of human beings and the importance of treating body, mind and spirit. With the recognition that one’s community or cultural society has an impact on a person’s health, practitioners now have the additional...

Law Enforcement Response to Terrorism

...Local Law Enforcement Response to Terrorism Student Course Number and Name Instructor Date Abstract The synchronization of the different levels of response agencies is vital to the national effort against terrorism because when incidents cross disciplinary or jurisdictional boundaries, or if they are complex in nature, coordination of activities is important to ensuring an effective and efficient response to containing, controlling, and resolving the incident. However, when incidents do strike, local law enforcement personnel are the first responders on the scene. The Boston Marathon bombing incident was a demonstration of how local law enforcement worked with state and federal law enforcement to coordinate the clearing of the scenes and location of the perpetrators. Since the terrorism incident that occurred on September 11, 2001, city leaders across the United States have assumed greater roles of responsibility in homeland security (Downing, 2009). This new responsibility has brought with it issues and practical challenges that city leaders and policymakers are confronted with during times of crisis that necessitate the securing of their communities. Although assistance comes from a variety of sources during emergency events, it is critical that local leaders are endowed with the knowledge to aid them in meeting the terrorism challenges that could occur not just now, but also in the future. Presented in this paper is information that local leaders can employ to ensure...
