Protecting and Enhancing your Immune System * Keeping up with good personal hygiene * Wash hands frequently, especially before eating and after using the bathroom * Keep a clean and sanitary environment * Getting adequate amount of sleep * Eat a well-balanced, nutritious diet * Drink plenty of water * Eat the recommended daily amount of fruits, veggies, grains and lean protein * Avoid junk food: processed foods, fast food and things with high fat, sodium and sugar content. * Exercise regularly * Just 30 min a day of physical activity * Lower stress levels/avoid stressors * Maintain healthy relationships * Laugh more * Limit and/or cease alcohol and tobacco intake * Get vaccinated & stay in touch with your physician * Get your flu shot annually * Make sure you are up to date with other vaccinations such as measles, mumps, rubella and varicella * Keep up with annual physicals and get tested for diseases and illnesses, early detection is the best way to stay on top of potential problems

Your immune system is the body’s strongest defense mechanism. The best way to protect and even enhance your immune system is to keep your body in a healthy state. Keeping up with personal hygiene, getting enough sleep, eating a good diet, staying physically active, lowering stress, limiting alcohol and tobacco and keeping up with vaccinations all in combination can help to protect and enhance your body’s immune system. They all go hand in hand to help each other. You can help your immune system do its job by not giving it extra work to do, keep yourself in a healthy state and understand that your immune system can only do so much.

Vitamin C, produces more fighting white blood cells, antibodies, and prevents the entry of any germs or viruses. Food that contain vitamin c are, fruits like, grapefruits, oranges, strawberries, leafy green vegetables such as, broccoli, asparagus, and cabbage.
