The 20th century artwork experienced much transformation that leadto change of art's status quo as well as making it loose almost beyond repair. Despite the many changes, the conceptual style and "plein air" have remained and gained more momentum in the modern artwork. The artwork by Marina Abramovic is one of the art pieces that have enhanced the transformation in the contemporary art. In her work, Abramovic uses her body as a medium and subject to test her mental, physical, and emotional limits during her per

formances. Sometimes, the presentations altered the artist's ego beyond the three limits in quest for heightened transcendence, self-transformation, and consciouisness, which led to risking of her life. In effect, the major recurring themes in her artwork are death and life. The two motifs are characterized by pain and endurance, energy dialogue, intense public interaction, repetitive behavior, and long duration actions. The abs

traction or visual arts involved in this art piece include the bones, knives, crystals, tables and pentagrams. The allegory of Abramovic's art piece is highly associated with her historical background that included communist rule and harsh child life from the parents who had a complicated relationship. Essentially, the discussion of Abramovic artwork enhances understanding of the aspect of public participatory, "plein" air concept, and art and improvement of concepts, and skills in t

The contemporary artwork.

The genre of public art was established in the late 20th century. Its concept and context attracted both the experimental and traditional practitioners. In the 21st century, the aspect of public arts has expanded through creative investigations. The development, of public art in the Abramovic artwork is mainly emphasized by her frequent use of graffiti and collaboration with other fields of such as architects, and engineers. In effect, her artwork gains new form, purpose, and locations. The artist has established new variations by employing people with special skills. As a result, her artwork promotes social interaction and sufficiency in entertainment goals.

The second aspect, "ple

in" air, was common in both the 19th and 20th centuries. However, the contemporary artwork has renewed this concept by enhancing the required skills for participation as well as creation of public festival atmosphere. The "plein" air artwork among the modern artists mainly emphasize on uniqueness to gain rapid influence and attraction. Similarly, the collaboration of participatory aspect has enabled "plein" artwork to be more entertaining to both the audience and the involved artists.

Lastly, the current artworks have improved concepts and skills that enhance metaphysical illustrations. The contemporary conceptual art is mainly enhanced by the current computer savvy game designers especially on background scenes and graphics. Equally, the contemporary artists are

inspired by the movies, great illustrators watched from the televisions, and new art form that involve imaginative and inventiveness. In the current scenario, the artist creates unique things through conceptual imaginations.

In conclusion, contrary to the improvement, it is hard for the audience to interpret the message in the contemporary artworks. Unlike the ancient works of art that had a flowing narrative, most of the current artworks have confusing information in effect to combination of many concepts that are sometimes hard to relate. The imaginative concepts are also so unique that only the artist can explain the specific meaning of the presentation. Importantly, the artwork should entail a flowing message that is enhanced by harmonious colors, lines and shapes. The many activities, colors, and contrasting concepts in the Abramovic artworsk create confusion in the viewer's mind and hence become hard to get the flow of the narrative.

Public Art Controversy

...Public art is a topic that is widely debated and somewhat controversial. Since individual opinions on art in general can be very nuanced and subjective, it is a common problem that some part of a population has an issue with a particular piece of public art. So what happens when the disagreement is directly between the public who is observing the piece and those who put it in place? It’s never really clear-cut who is right or wrong. One might say that it should be up to the observer, but maybe the observer doesn’t put full effort into understanding the art or simply can’t understand it. Should public art reflect public opinion or should it serve to shape the public’s perception of art? These are complex questions on a topic that is very...

The Arts in Public Schools: Is It a Priority or Not?

...“Missy Thoma Professor Murphy English 131 9 October 2014 The Arts in Public Schools: Is It a Priority or Not? Everyone has taken some type of art program in school. Whether it was music, art, drama, creative writing, or visual arts. Some students may have learned something from it like any other class. The arts programs are very important to many students especially when they reach high school. They want to take that class and turn it into their career. Though some say it is not an important class and a distraction to the more important classes such as math, science, and English. The art and music programs in public schools are very important to the education for students. There is a debate that is currently suggesting that the education of art and music is linked to the “Educate America Act of 2000, which outlines the goals and standards for the nation’s education” (Flynn, 2011). According to the “Educate America Act lists arts education as a part of the core curriculum, the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) and the NEA are the federal agencies that are responsible for the federal funds for arts education; and to them the arts education is one of the lowest priorities” (Flynn, 2011). Many public schools offer art and music education at the levels of elementary school. It is a more local decision that is made to fund art and music education in higher school levels, which higher levels provide art and music classes that are optional to the students (Flynn, 2011). Seven...

The Art of Public Speaking

...The Art Of Public Speaking Jemaire D. Steward New York University The Art Of Public Speaking The person who understand the importance of getting their message across in a clear, confident, and persuasive manner and are looking for ways to elevate their delivery from 'good' to 'great'. Successful Public Speaking offers specific, easy to practice strategies and tools to help you: structure your material for the best impact; cope with nervousness; maximize the effect of your presentation by using compelling visual aids; and connect with audiences of varied sizes. It also offers sound advice on how to avoid common public speaking mistakes, that even experienced speakers sometimes make, and tips on how to master the art of storytelling. The three main types of speeches are the informative, the persuasive, and the special occasion. Before deciding which best suits their purposes, however, speakers should first establish their objective in delivering the speech. Once speakers have the objective clearly established, they are then equipped to make the most suitable choice regarding what type of speech to deliver; however, before making this decision, they must have a clear understanding of the three main types of speeches. As the word “informative” implies, an informative speech “informs” those in attendance by providing them with information. Therefore, the speaker is a teacher, and his or her purpose is to educate the audience regarding a topic; and that topic may be an object...

Graffiti Art and Public Space

...Daniel Dadivas BSBA II “Graffiti Art and Public Space” Good morning everyone, I’m sure almost everyone here has distinguished whether graffiti is a form of art or an act of vandalism. Some call it art others just call it against the law; no matter what you call it graffiti is a defining aspect of today's urban environment. However, have you ever looked past those opinions to see what this collaboration of spray paints is trying to express? Graffiti art is a form of communication and self-expression. On the other hand, isn’t this so called form of art defacing public property? I’m not sure if you caught the irony in my last question, but how can we deface something these considered the public? Graffiti or Urban art is a form of artwork that’s beautifying our world by using every wall as their canvas of choice. Now that I have given you a brief introduction about Graffiti, let us now look at some basic applications of how graffiti is a form of expression. Many murals in Bacolod City serve as a purpose in opening the eyes of the residents of urban culture. Many murals, tags, throw ups and pieces have the power to move society out of their comfort zone and privileged them in seeing through the eyes of the artist. Through abstract collaborations of creative motions, they can see the harsh realities and taboos that conflict, influence, damage and tear apart the lives of your fellow human beings. According to Timothy Werwath of the New York Times...

Ideas in History - Challenging Traditions with Public Art

...The essay will argue the link between indigenous art, and public art in the post-modern world within which we live. Using the site of Fiona Foley's public art sculpture Bibles and Bullets as a focal point, public art as aboriginal tradition, and public art as a postmodern concept will be analysed. Located in Redfern park, Redfern, the artist's sculpture stands on the ground of great historical context to indigenous people. The context of not only Redfern park, but also the suburb of Redfern holds significant meaning to Aboriginal Australians. In the 1920's indigenous Australians migrated from rural areas of NSW to Redfern. Since then, the Aboriginal communities of Redfern have faced numerous hardships (creative spirits 2014). Redfern Park was the site of Paul Keating's famous 'Redfern Park speech'. The site links both postmodernity and tradition in its meaning, purpose, and structure. The postmodernistic use of art as a way to disrupt movement and space challenges traditional artistic conventions. Fiona Foley is an indigenous artist who was commissioned to work on numerous public art installations. Her art does not depict traditional indigenous scenes such as the dream time, but rather has meaning deeply rooted in the modern history of the invasion of indigenous land. Foley uses public art because once in the public domain, you can't look away. Redfern, and Redfern park both hold significance relating to indigenous Australians. Redfern was the largest Aboriginal populated...

Assess The Role Of Art In Christian Public Worship

...assess the role that art has played in the history of Christian public worship: what is art? Or, more specifically, what is categorised as art in the context of the titled task above. In his book ‘Introduction to Christian Worship’, White puts art into two broad categories: Religious and Liturgical. For his definitions of art, White draws on the work of Tillich. He surmises the term Religious art as ‘any art that had a dimension of depth, penetrating beneath superficial observation’. Considered a surmising and not a summary because it would be near impossible to definitively prove art as lacking in depth. In addition, this is partly due to a definition that implies the art under consideration...

The Importance Of Art Education

...Students who participate in art and music at school are often more likely to win awards for school attendance, and be elected into class office. In the 1930’s, art education flourished since the Federal Art Program (FAP) provided jobs to artists and musicians as art teachers in public schools. In 1947, National Art and Education Association (NAEA) was formed to assist public schools in the funding of art programs. Although, in 1958, art education dwindled. The National Defense Education Act was formed when people saw that Americans were falling behind in education and they concluded it was because not enough funding was going into necessary education. Therefore, the amount of schools that funded art education reduced. However, in 1962, John...
