October 20, 2012 Pumpkin Pudding for the Holidays It is that time of year again, pumpkin season! Two pleasant holidays are just around the corner. This is the time; we spent Halloween or Christmas with our families to have an enjoyable holiday dinner or just to hang out. There is plentiful food cooked for dinner, but what is dinner without dessert? The most traditional holiday dessert is pumpkin pie, so how about spicing dessert up a little this year. Well, here is one way to do it, a tasty holiday dessert that the whole family will love, and it is quick and easy too!

The first step in baking, of course, is to gather all the ingredients needed for the task. Luckily, with this dessert, most of what you need, you will already have in your kitchen. Whatever you do not have, you can just get at the grocery store. The ingredients you will need are: 1 can pumpkin, 3 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 tsp, salt, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp cloves, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 box spiced cake mix, 1 1/2 cubes margarine or butter, 3/4 cup favorite chopped nuts (if desired), and a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. You will also need a measuring cup and measuring spoons if you want to measure the ingredients evenly. In addition, you will need a small bowl to mix, and a large bowl to mix all the dry ingredients together.

Now that, you have all your ingredients, you can start on the fun, but first; preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Before you begin to mix all the ingredients, first combine the wet ingredients eggs, butter, milk, and can of pumpkin in the small bowl until they are well mixed. Now combine the dry ingredients, salt, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and sugar in the large bowl. You can use anything to mix it all with, a hand mixer, rubber spatula, wooden spoon, or if you do not have these items, a large spoon will do the trick. Be sure to mix everything so that it is combined evenly.

There is no need to grease the pan. Just pour the mixture into the baking pan. Pour it all in so that the pudding covers the pan evenly. Do not just pour the pudding all in one spot. If you cannot get it even while pouring, smooth out the top of the pudding with your mixing tool.

Put, the butter or margarine in a bowl and place it in the microwave. Be sure to place a paper towel over the bowl, so the butter does not splatter all over the inside of the microwave. Set the time between 30 seconds-1 minute, depending on how powerful your microwave is, to melt the butter.

While you are waiting for the butter to melt, sprinkle the spiced cake mix over the top of the pudding so that it covers evenly. You want the cake mix to cover every area of the pudding. Once you are done with that step, take the butter out of the microwave and pour it over the top of the spiced cake mix. You must be extremely careful with this step; pour slowly and pour as evenly as you can over the whole area of the pan. Next, add your favorite nuts (if you want). Just about any kind of nut will do. My children like my pudding without nuts, but if you like, nuts, walnuts or pecans would taste exceptionally pleasant.

Now you can put the pan, uncovered, into the oven for one hour. Once it is done, remove the pan from oven, cover the pan with foil, wait until it is time for dessert, and serve. When you are ready to serve it, place a spoonful of vanilla ice cream on it to give it some added flavor.

My children loved this pumpkin pudding dessert so much it became our family's traditional holiday dessert. This year, why don’t you make it your family's new tradition, as well.

Pudding

...Pudding is a kind of food that can be either a dessert or a savory dish. The word pudding is believed to come from the French boudin, originally from the Latin botellus, meaning "small sausage", referring to encased meats used in Medieval European puddings. Terminology In the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth countries, pudding can be used to describe both sweet and savory dishes. Unless qualified, however, the term in everyday usage typically denotes a dessert; in the UK, "pudding" is used as a synonym for a dessert course. Savory dishes include Yorkshire pudding, black pudding, suet pudding and steak and kidney pudding. In the United States and some parts of Canada, pudding characteristically denotes a sweet milk-based dessert similar in consistency to egg-based custards, instant custards or a mousse, often commercially set using cornstarch, gelatin or similar collagen agent such as the Jell‑O brand line of products. In Commonwealth countries these puddings are called custards if they are egg-thickened, blancmange if starch-thickened, and jelly if gelatin based. Pudding may also refer to other dishes such as bread pudding and rice pudding, although typically these names derive from the origin as British dishes. History The modern usage of the word pudding to denote primarily desserts has evolved over time from the almost exclusive use of the term to describe savoury dishes, specifically those created using a process similar to sausages where meat and other...

...counter girl wanted to bring joy to the gentleman even though he was being “annoying” and behaving in a disrespectful manner by tasting all the puddings on a daily basis. I believe this quote is interesting since it tells us something about the shop girl and how she is as a person. Based on the girl’s actions and quotations, we receive a positive image of the girl. She seems very polite and caring. This is clearly illustrated in the following quote: “Pardon me sir, will you do me a favor? Let me purchase you one of these puddings. It would give me such pleasure.” (p. 96, paragraph 3, line 1). The counter girl complains about this old man to another costumer and yet she considers buying a pudding for the gentleman. Not only does she offer him a free pudding, but also does she tell him that it gives her “such pleasure” if she could purchase a pudding for him. The fact that it gives her pleasure explains a lot about the girl. We get the sense that the girl is polite and kind at the same time. Offering a stranger a free purchase does not occur normally and one should be praised if done so. Another example of the shop girl’s characteristics is evident in the beginning of the short story. Here we are introduced to her kindheartedness and compassion. The girl at the counter does not only illustrate her kindness when she offers the gentleman a pudding, but she also talks kindly behind his back. This is shown in the following quote: “Well, let him come if he wants it that bad, say I, and...

If you’ve never made flan before, now is the time try this recipe. I’m going to talk how to make three different kinds of flans. Flans are really important for my culture and almost all Mexicans families eat flan for dessert. I’m going to explain how to make the caramel flan, the Authentic Mexican Flan, and the crème cheese flan. The first flan is the caramel is round and it looks just like jello. The taste you get in your mouth is like creamy pudding with the taste of a caramel in it. At the caramel flan you have to use one and a half cups of sugar, two tablespoons, three eggs, two large eggs, yolks, pinch salt. You put the oven in the oven, and let it bake for fifty to sixty minutes. It is much better if the oven you has a light n a see through, that way u can see the process. That would be a great gift for Mother’s day. The Authentic Mexican Flan taste is so different, the taste of it is similar to vanilla and creamy and the shape its round. The flan haves a good color is kind of yellow that makes it looks so good. You got to preheat the oven 323 degrees to make the flan. Combine the cream, cinnamon and coffee powder in a small saucepan over medium-low flame. ...questions if tThe man takes advantage of the free samples offered in the shop or if the shop girl is prejudiced against the old poor fellow. The short story is about an old fellow, who comes to the plum pudding store once a week. The problem is that the man does not buy any plum puddings, but he samples them. Therefore he gets the plum puddings for free and actually steals from the store (– definition as a thief).
