There's a multitude of imagined communities within the world. So bountiful that you could not possibly talk about them all. Just in Quinnipiac alone, I could get overwhelmed trying to count them all. There are countless imagined communities in the world and they all follow one simple definition, “theorized as discrete, self defined, coherent entities, held together by a homogenous competence or grammar shared identically and equally among all the members”(as cited in Pratt 325). Some other words that can sum up an imagined community is that it's always fraternal, sovereign, and limited.

Game design and development class is one of many examples of an imagined community that I am personal apart of in school. My classmates are all fraternal when we are in class. Once assigned work from the professor everyone helps each other get the work done …show more content…
The class would look over other classmates' work, give pointers, opinions, and general help. Due to the game design and development class being an imagined community within the imagined community of Quinnipiac some parts of the community consistently stretches out of the classroom into rooms and halls where we can talk about video games, coding, and work we as individuals in the community have been working on. Turning the community of Game design and development class into a contact zone would be detrimental to the learning experience of the class as a whole. The game designing process is simple, some one comes up with an idea, another person makes the idea better, a third person reworks the idea even more till you come up will a game idea that fits a good portion of the ideas of the group. The group is always happy to give ideas and don't feel uncomfortable, like a contact zone should be. Adding the contact zone into the group of game designers would tear the process apart. Both investigate changing ad values and the ethnic diversity of ad models. Results indicate that the male market is becoming increasingly self-oriented in its values orientation as a result of broad societal changes and changing gender roles. Increasing use of black or African American models in key positions indicates a growing acceptance of minorities as representations of the ideal self among younger men, who express a preference for black or African American models. This finding speaks to the increasingly multicultural nature of society and the impact of minority celebrities on American culture. ...Quotas: From Discrimination to Democratic Legitimacy EARLY DRAFT – NOT FOR CITATION It is an established rule of U.S. constitutional law that the state cannot impose or pursue race or gender quotas.[1] In the private sector, an employer’s pursuit of numerically fixed race or gender balance is suspect under Title VII.[2] Under both bodies of antidiscrimination law, quotas are regarded as discrimination. If a civil rights initiative can be portrayed as encouraging employers to adopt quotas, its political demise is nearly certain in the United States.[3] Narrow forms of affirmative action have survived, legally and politically, only to the extent that they can be distinguished from quotas. Quotas are so widely regarded as legally, politically, and morally repugnant that they are taboo: The “q-word”[4] is rarely the subject of any serious debate, even by those who favor stronger civil rights protections for women and minorities. The related belief in the illegitimacy of ever pursuing numerically informed demographic balance – especially along lines of race or gender -- is gaining strength in the Supreme Court’s major antidiscrimination cases in the last several years.[5] It is widely accepted – even by civil rights advocates – that pursuing racial or gender balance as a goal, “for its own sake,” would be illegitimate.[6] This principle threatens the constitutionality of race-based affirmative action, which may meet its demise in Fisher v.
