Author: Rainbow Rowell is an American author of young adult novels. She lives in Omaha, Nebraska with her husband and two sons. She was born in 1973 and she has written bestselling novel Fangirl.
Carry on is a young adult fantasy novel and it’s published in 2015.
It is a story of a boy named Simon Snow who is an orphan “Chosen one” (“Simon Snow is the wort chosen one who’s ever been chosen”), his friends and his roommate Baz (Simon’s enemy). Generic, I know. They are part of this magical world and in the book they go to a Watford School of Magicks. Simon has best friend called Penelope (Penny) and his has a girlfriend, Agatha.
Mane charecters are Simon, Baz, Penelope and Agatha. Supporting charecters are Ebb, Mage (head of the school), Nicodemus and Lucy. There are many other small roles too (schoolmates etc.) …show more content…
It is an evil force that tries to destroy the magic world. It doesn’t kill, but it takes the magic out of magicks (it creates “dead spots”). There is drama too between the charecters (of course) and for example Baz struggles with his identity as a vampire and other stuff.
Because this is a young adult novel, the charecters develop through the story. Learning about yourself and realizing what is important in life.
Maybe the most important “problem”/plot in this book is that Baz is gay and he has feelings for Simon, but because they are enemies, it is little bit difficult for him. Through the book, he struggles with his identity and sexuality.
