Clinical correctness and proper diagnosis can be extremely beneficial to patients admitted to emergency rooms and clinics throughout the United States. On many occasions, the clinician is faced with multiple symptoms and a myriad of factors which can often lead to the misdiagnosis of treatment. Upon entering facilities for treatment, patients need to be assessed with physical examinations, to include family history, bloodwork and radiological test to aid in treatment. The assessment of chronic chest pain, is a gray area that can lead clinicians down a rabbit hole if they don’t follow specific protocols and appropriate criteria guidelines. As a clinician chest pain could mean coronary artery disease, pulmonary embolus, aortic dissection, …show more content…
It is rated high on the criteria list for detecting abnormalities with risk of low exposure. Chest films are done to visualize heart and lung disease. The condition of your lungs, can be determined for pneumothorax, emphysema or cystic fibrosis (1). Heart and lung findings like pulmonary edema, CHF or pericardial effusion can be determined with a single chest x-ray, this can instrumental with patients complaining of chest pain (1). By viewing chest films physicians can determine if spine or rib fractures are present, along with blood vessels which could prove to be an aortic aneurysm (1). Although chest films are a great resource in determining clinical findings, there are instances when a clinician will need to exam the patient with another reference point, hence the transthoracic ultrasound. Transthoracic US scanning is ideally suited for the evaluation of pleural diseases. US is useful for characterizing pleural effusions, for distinguishing between pleural effusions and pleural thickening, and in the evaluation of pleural masses. (Yu CJ, Yang PC, Chang DB, Luh KT. Diagnostic and therapeutic use of chest sonography: value in critically ill patients. Am J Roentgenol 1992; 159:695-701. Crossref, Medline) The subtle abnormalities of rib fractures or even arteriovenous malformations can all be determined by the use of ultrasound, which can prove to be beneficial in choosing the correct path in treatment. The beauty of the transthoracic ultrasound is its non-invasive approach to finding results without any pain to the patient. Reviewing protocols for best rated exams for chest pain lends itself to procedures that are related on the lower list of protocols chosen on the ACR list. Listed below are two procedures chosen which fall on the lower end of hierarchy, according to the ACR explaining the best practice and benefits regarding choice

Connecting the Dots

...Connecting the Dots Initially, I was unable to review the actual results of the Path Builder in Step 1 regarding the assessment that I had taken. Step 2 initially showed me that I mastered all modules on my Learning Path. This includes Sentence Skills, Punctuation, Mechanics and Spelling, and The Craft of Writing. When I selected the Mastered Module titled Sentence Skills, I selected Skills Check and took a short exam. This resulted in a suggestion to work on Fragments next. These skills directly apply my academic life because these are the very skills that are going to be evaluated by the instructors, which in turn will determine how successful I am in each class. While I may have the ability to analyze a situation, I won't be as successful in class if I am unable to correctly articulate that analysis using proper grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. The skills that I am learning in the Path Builder also relate directly to my professional life as a Paralegal, working for attorneys that rely on the written word to convey their legal arguments and points when defending their clients. I have to be able to construct clear and concise motions and pleadings, often times trying to convince a judge or prosecutor to see our point of view regarding very delicate topics. Most of my life, I have been naturally able to construct a proper sentence or write a grammatically correct paper, but I could never define a fragment or parallel sentence. I am excited about the...

Chapter 2 Case Assignment, Analyzing Managerial Decisions: Interwest Healthcare Corp.

...Chapter 2 Case Assignment Analyzing Managerial Decisions: Interwest Healthcare Corp. MBA 540- Managerial Economics Chapter 2 Case Assignment After reading and understanding the scenario at hand and the issue that Interwest Healthcare is experiencing. There is a serious need for a consultant to come in and further analyze the problem and make improvement recommendations. A potential source of the issue is stemming from the lack of information to the direct employees who are inputting the information straight into the system. The hospital administrators need to monitor the employee’s direct collation to the data they are inputting into the system is in fact correct. Possibly the lack of communication resulting from the hospital administrators is an acknowledgement that the employees know of the importance of the correct data input, when in fact they are not aware of the importance and how much the organization is reliant on the information for funding and reporting. One of the biggest issues facing employee and employer relationships is the lack of communication. According to Joseph (2013), “failure to communicate effectively often leads to conflict, which can harm an organization.” If the problem is not correct by the hospital administrators, Vijay Singh may need to go the individual hospitals and have meetings directly with the individuals inputting the information. This is a means of stressing the importance and also for...

...How stressed were the second years on the day of Mock board? Even tough I was not taking the exam; I started to feel stressed for some odd reason. Increasing stress levels started early on and I witnessed it from the beginning. I was assigned to be in the front office. All the second years were there early in the morning with their patients in the waiting area. I helped greet all the patients. The clinicians were reviewing all the documents, took vitals and explained to their patients what was going to happen during the exam. Some of the clinicians were stressed out because their patients did not show up. I called them several times and some patients did not answer. At that moment I knew exactly how important it is to have a back up patient. I did not get to see what was happening during the examination time since most of the time I was in front office. I tried to go back to help out. However, I did hear that some clinicians did not have the correct set up because they thought everything was in the cassette when they sterilized it. There is no room for “thought” at an exam. It’s crucial to follow directions given by the instructors. Check, double check, triple check everything. Some forms were not filled out correctly according to the criteria so the patients got rejected. There were specifics about probing the exact quadrant that you are going to scale, not the entire mouth. They had to complete dental charting as well in that quadrant. At the end, all of...

...How to make your life successful |   | What we call life is a very complex affair. It is not simply eating, reproducing and finally dying. Every creature does these. But in the case of man he has to lead a highly complicated life. It is like going through a maze and coming out. He is an economic being and a social animal. He has to earn, make a home, look after his people, attend to his obligations to the society and the Government. So in order to be successful, in all these, he has to develop certain qualities. What do we mean by saying a man is successful? If in his occupation he can do satisfactorily both for himself and others then he is successful. He must be able to look after his people and bring up good children. If he becomes a professional man like an engineer, doctor or lawyer, making money should not be the only criterion; he must also be able to satisfy his clients and be honest at it.In order to be successful one should develop certain qualities. At first he must realize his purpose; in other words what he would like to be. This is the crux of the problem, for the choice does not come to him. Parents decide it very often for them. Let us suppose he decides to be somebody in his life. Once having decided he must work for attaining certain standard in that line. Only hard work would make him fit for the job. It is rightly said that it is 5% inspiration and 95% perspiration. One must deserve before desiring. One must remember one's education does not stop with the...

Use of Office Equipment

...Unit 221 Use of office Equipment 1.1 In the office I work in there are different types of equipment we use and they are all vital for the day to run smoothly or for any work to be done. We use computers and these are the main part as they have all the information we need, for example the clients details, emails, documentation ect. We also use the telephones to make calls and receive them. The printer is very useful to us as we can print, scan, fax and copy. There is a lot of other equipment we use in the day to day work like the staplers, pens, paper files and these are just things we use without thinking about it. 1.2/1.3 All the office equipment we use has all different features and different reasons as to why we use it. The reason we use the telephones is to make calls and we use this because we can’t use the computers to make the calls and this is in the same way as us not being able to use the telephones to send an email. 2.1/2.2 The purpose of following manufacturer’s instructions is to enable you to use the equipment correctly without harm to yourself or braking the item. It also ideal because you will then know how to use the item step by step. This is the same as the organisation instructions because you need to go by the organisations rules. You need to do this because it’s how they want you to perform and by doing this it enables you to keep the job and earn respect. 2.3/2.4 Each type of equipment has its own health and safety risks so...
