Laws About

...have prepared over the years in which I have organized the titles under certain main “themes.” No one is surprised to see My Cousin Vinny on the list, but some are surprised I have listed it under the theme of “legal education.” So, I thought I’d use my contribution to the Abnormal Use blog’s celebration to explain why. One reason I place My Cousin Vinny under the theme of legal education is that it provides so much material you can use in the classroom. For example, you can use the movie to discuss criminal procedure, courtroom decorum, professional responsibility, unethical behavior, the role of the judge in a trial, efficient cross-examination, the role of expert witnesses and effective trial advocacy. Go here, here and here for more on this. But the reference to legal education goes deeper. I think you can use the movie to discuss the most common topic of debate within legal education itself. Interestingly, however, in My Cousin Vinny, the issue is turned on its head. After Vinny’s girlfriend Mona Lisa bails him out for a second time after having been found in contempt, she criticizes his performance in court and tells him it is pretty clear he does not know what he is doing. She then utters one of my favorite lines in the movie: “Don’t they teach you that in law school?” Vinny’s response is just as classic: “NO! They teach you Contracts...! Obviously, the implication is that in law school they teach "law" not "how to practice law"....

There are many reason that the author provided in this article to explain why this type of situation is happening in today’s society. First of all, the author claims that “Conventional wisdom says that women in engineering face obstacles such as glass ceiling, a lack of self-confidence and a lack of mentors” (St. Fleur, 2014). A psychologist called Nadya Fouad surveyed over 5,300 women who graduated with an engineering degree and found out that only a small part of the population remained in this field in the end. I have attended Sunday morning’s church since I was a small kid and up to date I still have the habit. I have been taught to be hardworking in everything that I do. Simply, “Hard work Pays”. In a family of five siblings, my parents have ensured that everybody has achieved college education. They have taught us that education opens up many doors that would alternatively not be open. Financial Statement Analysis of Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

...|FINANCIAL STATEMENT ANALYSIS | Analyzing financial statements involves evaluating three characteristics: a company’s liquidity, profitability and solvency. A short-term creditor such as a bank is primarily interested in liquidity – the borrower to pay obligations when they come due. A long-term creditor, such as a bondholder, looks to profitability and solvency measures that indicate the company’s ability to survive over a long period of time. Similarly, stockholders look at the profitability and solvency of the company and want to assess the likelihood of dividends and the growth potential of the stock. Three commonly used tools for financial statement analysis are: i. Horizontal analysis evaluates a series of financial statement data over a period of time. ii. Vertical analysis evaluates financial statement data by expressing such item in a financial statement as a percentage of a base amount. iii. Ratio analysis expresses the relationship among selected items of financial statement data. BRIEF HISTORY OF SQUARE PHARMACEUTICALS LTD. Persuasive Essay On American Pitbull Terrier

...If the people would understand that a pit bull is a specific grouping of dog, and their physical features have little to do with the actual reasons these laws are put in place, then maybe owners of non pit bulls will have less to worry about. The people behind these laws make comments such as, “I’ve said before and I will say again, if it walks like a pit bull, if it barks and bites like a pit bull, wags its tail like a pit bull, it’s a pit bull.” (Ontario Hansard 38-1, November 4, 2004)” (Difficulty of Breed Identification). Maybe if Attorney General Michael Bryant was informed that his statement refers to every dog on this planet, then the ban he pushed on pit bulls would not exist. It is people like this who throw around the word pit bull, not even having any real knowledge on what it really means, who cause not only true pit bulls to suffer, but non pit bulls and their families...

Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference 1919

...Case Study Week Two: Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference 1919 1. According to the authors of Germany’s complaint. The various provisions of the treaty hurt Germany’s economy by forcing Germany to accept full responsibility for the damages caused not only by the Germans but also by everyone associated with them and the damage that was caused. As stated in the article, Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference, 1919 President Wilson recognized in his speech of 1916 “no single fact caused the war, but that in the last analysis the whole European system is in a deeper sense responsible for the war, with its combination of alliances and understandings, a complicated texture of intrigues and espionage that unfailingly caught the whole family of nations in its meshes”. Germany was being forced to accept responsibility for all the damage caused and to add insult to injury, the amount of compensation Germany was going to pay out was going to be determined solely by their enemy. With everything being determined by Germany’s enemy, Germany was denied basic rights to build the nation, and they were being forced to re-build for the benefit of foreign nations without any self-preservation. For example the building of canals and railroads at the discretion of foreign authorities. In simple terms Germany was completely left out. Everything being determined for Germany not only did not benefit them at all, they also did not have much of a...

What White Privilege?

...given, that the idea of a homogonized "white" group in society that is accepted and given privileges is erroneous. The theory of White Privilege fails to give an accurate definition/ analysis of barriers in society and the idea that large amounts of minorities or lagging majorities (in other countries) is due to a privilege ethnic or race group, is flawed and racist. First, while the idea of condemning discrimination against members of our species is important, it is by no means causally crucial. People forget sometimes that there are other races outside black and white when it comes to this subject. Once other races are involved you start getting different results, stats and causes. What about the difference in test scores for Japanese and Mexican American kids for example. In his essay Race, Culture and Equality,   Mr. Sowell writes: Japanese and Mexican immigrants began arriving in California at about the same time and initially worked in very similar occupations as agricultural laborers.  Yet a study of a school district in which their children attended the same schools and sat side-by-side in the same classrooms found IQ differences as great as those between blacks and whites attending schools on opposite sides of town in the Jim Crow South. Sowell goes on to reason that the reason for these differences is not so easily found as it involves "so many cultural, social, economic, and other factors(geography and climate being very...

...Beauty Contest in the Classroom” I found several differences in procedure that may have affected the results in our classroom version. Furthermore, I will point out what aspects of the experiment can be modified in order to find more legitimate and honest results. In this experiment, rational answer would be all players playing 0. This is because of the following reasoning: All players have the same information, and are assumed to be equally rational. This is referred to as Nash equilibrium in Game theory. The experiment shows an easy way to test how theoretical assumptions in a lecture. The results represent pretty much the theoretical hypothesis that we devote our intelligences to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be. With doing more rounds, more smaller number we will get until we reach the Nash equilibrium. The detailed analysis of the results showed that students are learning quickly. A naïve strategy would be to choose the six faces that, in the opinion of the entrant, are the most beautiful. A more sophisticated contest entrant, wishing to maximize the chances of winning a prize, would think about what the majority perception of beauty is, and then make a selection based on some inference from their knowledge of public perceptions. This can be carried one step further to take into account the fact that other entrants would each have their own opinion of what public perceptions are. Thus the strategy can be extended to the next order,...
