An opportunity arose at work over the weekend that I had to make some decisions regarding. I work part-time and was originally planning, on using the extra time available; to work on the last of my substantives I wanted to work on. However, upon arriving at work, my supervisor notified me to a situation that had developed. Two full-time workers had called off sick and were asking me if I would be able to pick up one of the shifts, after working my own shift. As a part time worker, I do not have to per policy but I want to move up in status so I agreed to the request. The additional hours plus travel time, and the freeway rush hour now subject too, made this approximately a 15-hour day for me. The same position offered on Sunday, so I hope someone takes notice, but only time will tell this.

I am now considering whether this was or was not a form of procrastination, since I consciously knew what my prior planned goals were and intentionally put them off for another option. On the other hand, maybe it based on life skills in wanting to earn some bonus points with the employer, to make my financial situation more stable. Since I am in the Orientation class, the decision was a bit easier for me to take the option for work.

I am not positive if I procrastinated or not but did both increase and decrease the stress levels over both of my options.

Hence, the relevant conceptual, theoretical, and empirical work is reviewed, drawing upon correlational, experimental, and qualitative findings. A meta-analysis of procrastination’s possible causes and effects, based on 691 correlations, reveals that neuroticism, rebelliousness, and sensation seeking show only a weak connection. Strong and consistent predictors of procrastination were task aversiveness, task delay, selfefficacy, and impulsiveness, as well as conscientiousness and its facets of self-control, distractibility, organization, and achievement motivation.
