...Issue Under North Carolina law, does a person have a cause of action for intentional infliction of emotional distress against an actor who posts negative information about that person on a risqué website, who attempts to cause that person severe distress with the negative information that she posts, and whose actions result in a level of distress that requires that the person receives treatment under a doctor’s care. Brief Answer Yes. Bert Cooper probably has a cause of action for intentional infliction of emotional distress against Ellie Saxon. ...Siemens AG: Global Development Strategy • What were the major causes of the problems with the NetManager project? (I’m not looking for a list of points made in the case; I’m looking for you to step back to a higher level and analyze why these problems occurred.) The problems experienced by the NetManager project appear to be symptoms of integration vs. responsiveness issue within Siemens AG. As a transnational company, Siemens faces strong pressure to globally integrate its operations, and be responsive to the needs of their offices and customer’s needs. The main problem with NetManager was that it had mushroomed in size and strategic importance. This was the result of keeping up with the rapidly changing technological demands, and NetManager becoming a highly visible product for Siemens’ largest customers. Analyzing the various problems, we see that despite the competence of the Bangalore RDC, there is a serious number of integration problems between Munich headquarters and Bangalore. First, there was a gap in product knowledge and competence, which resulted in unrealistic expectations such as project deadlines. Indians held proficiency in desktop and personal computing programming languages, while the Germans held extensive product knowledge concerning their EWSD technology and its functions. As the project grew in size and scope, it required interdependence amongst EWSD systems, knowledge held by German management and not sufficiently provided to Bangalore. Then...

...with each other. There had been multiple requests to the state department for increased security forces even months before the attack. These requests were denied due to lack of efficient intelligence information supporting the request. Without the proper information through intelligence US troops would have been put at a greater risk by going into the unknown rather than preparing for the mission ahead. Once the attack began there was not enough time for US forces to arrive and cause any changes in the outcome. The decision to send more security should have been made long before the attack occurred. There was absolutely not enough security, and had there been the results could have been significantly better. Sufficient security may or may not have prevented the attack but there is a chance that the results could have resulted in fewer deaths. Strong security forces can affect outcomes of situations such as these in many ways. A large security team can cause intimidation against those committing these attacks just by having the numbers to closely fight the group they are facing. This attack had very little security causing the look from an outsiders view to be seen as a greater chance of success while more security would do the opposite and cause thoughts of possible failure instead. In areas such as this where we cannot rapidly respond to uprisings and threats we should have roaming patrols. By implanting this security posture we could increase response time in areas...

...The result of the tests conducted at different locations and times can be found in Table 1 of Appendices. By comparing the estimated number of people within 100 meters against the number of people found by WeChat (within 100 meters), it can be observed that there is a huge deviation. Similarly, there is a variation between the estimated number of people who is likely to be on WeChat and the number of people found by WeChat. The differences in the results can be explained by various reasons and they are as follows: 1. Generally, user with WeChat app is found to be very common in China. However, in Singapore where many social apps are available, WeChat can be seen as less popular as compared to apps like Whatsapp, Line and Tango. Hence, smaller amount of users resulted in lesser number of people discovered by WeChat’s Look Around function. 2. People might have installed WeChat but do not access or use it because they are using other apps (i.e. Whatsapp, Line, etc) to communicate. Hence, information such as user’s location is unavailable on WeChat’s web server. 3. For tests conducted outside of institution (i.e. ID 5 – 6 and 8 – 10): it is likely that users have disabled their “location services” feature of the mobile device or have chosen to delete their location data (in WeChat) to prevent unnecessary data lost and to protect their privacy. Such act affected WeChat’s app ability to determine user’s location. Alternatively, user might be connected to a network with...

...Applying the Results and Conclusion of the Research Process to Problems in Health Sandra Green April 3, 2013 Rhett Stover HCS/465 Applying the Results and Conclusion of the Research Process to Problems in Health The method of data collection should link the objectives to the research questions. Data collection procedures are very important for this study. The procedures of the collection will provide validity based on the type of survey taken on the age group surveyed for pertinent information involving the research process. In the comparative study described in the article Breaking the Repeat Teen Pregnancy Cycle, the nurtured trait of resilience is the ability to recover from a setback. The data for this study was collected through chart audits of medical records and by tracing these young girls over a period of at least two years. Data is collected in the medical records by a series of verbal questions asked by a medical professional through personal interviews. Face-to-face interviews are an excellent technique to observe behaviors of the individual. This behavior could be verbal or nonverbal such as body language. One disadvantage of this is that there may be a lack of standardization in the questions. The findings suggest that a teen mother with one infant is 500 times more likely to have another child with two years. Young girls sometimes believe that getting pregnant a second child might bring her and her significant other closer together and enhance the connection...

...Applying the Results and Conclusion of the Research Process to Problems in Health Care HCS/465 October 3, 2013 Results The procedure of collecting data was appropriate because the data was collected in the most efficient and logical way of collecting data for obtaining the desired outcome. The data for this study was collected by a web-enabled database for error reporting system in a hospital setting. Nurses, physicians, and pharmacists had access to the system at any time to report any type of medication error. The rights of the subjects were protected because the patients information was never used on the error reporting database and the error reports made by the staff were anonymous, other than tracking what job title the error reporter held. Reporting any error was completely voluntary to the staff and staff was fully aware of what the system was for. The data collection tool in this instance was a web-enabled database for error reporting. This system supports the reliability of the study by keeping accurate percentage tallies of the types of errors, who is reporting the errors, and the suggestions to prevent the errors. Data Analysis Procedures The data analysis procedures in this study were appropriate for the data collected because the procedures used to analyze the data were as follows: two experts, the investigator, and the pharmacist worked together to analyze the material. The two experts agreed on the categories of errors and the one year time limit...

...sustainability and economic success within the area. In this essay I will discuss the results collected on the fieldtrip and describe how they are able to show that the rebranding process has been successful. In order to find out whether the number of people visiting the city centre of Plymouth has increased, I carried out the quantitative method of pedestrian counts at 2 different points – Drake Circus and Frankfort Gate. At 5 minute intervals, I counted the number of people who walked past. At around 12pm, between 150-165 pedestrians walked past. In comparison, at Frankfort Gate in the same amount of time between 50-60 people walked past our eye line. In my opinion, this shows success because the visitors are more attracted to the shopping centre of Drake Circus where there are a range of high street brands where as Frankfort Gate is home to more independent cafes and the local market. Due to the increase in popularity of Plymouth city centre, I carried out a perception analysis. This where I asked the local residents about the different ways Plymouth has rebranded. The most popular result was the development of Drake Circus and when asked about the different places/events they had visited, 2 out of the 3 people interviewed, Drake Circus was the most visited location. However, due to time constraints, I could only carry out the pedestrian counts and interviews at one time and in one location meaning that results may not be a full representation. Therefore, if I were to do this again, I...

...In “Mixed” Results: Multiracial Research and Identity Explorations author Gaither (2015) explains the notion that multiracial individuals often feel pressure to choose one central race to identify with while also investigating the idea that the individual’s multiple identities actually allows them to assume flexible cognitive and behavioral tactics. Additionally, Gaither’s (2015) article assess previous research pertaining to multiracial individuals; she examines the behavior and cognitive functions related to being multiracial, and also studies the connection of multiracial identities with flexibility. In its entirety, this research shows that multiracial people generally take a more open approach to interacting with others. There were many...

...Applying the Results and Conclusion of the Research Process to Problems in Health Care Ijuanaya Woods HCS/465 April 22, 2013 Kerrie Kelly o Results In the world of healthcare, there are many advantages to improving the quality of healthcare while keeping the costs of healthcare down. One system is known as the “Pay for performance” system. This system is aimed at improving healthcare by offering a financial reward. This type of program usually pays a bonus if the providers or hospital meet on an agreed upon performance measure, for example, reducing the hemoglobin A1c in diabetic patients. Hemoglobin A1c is a test that shows the average level of blood sugar in a patient within the past 2-3 months. This is important for diabetic patients to see whether their blood sugar levels have been on target or not. These incentives can be paid directly to physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers to ensure that their facility carries out such improvements and to achieve the most optimal quality of care for their patients. Another system is called “pay for performance”, where paying providers for resulting in better outcomes for patients, who in return will improve these outcomes. While both of these programs are a great way to improve the quality of healthcare by giving providers some type of motivation to improve their services, it can also come with some penalties. Hospitals and nursing homes can face financial penalties...

...Analysis of Newspaper Research Report Results Rolanda Redman HCS/438 July 12, 2015 Sil Di Gregorio Analysis of Newspaper Research Report Results The Chicago Tribune published an article educating readers on the perils of children riding in vehicles of inebriated drivers. The study confirmed that driving under the influence (DUI) related deaths among children reveals the children were riding in the vehicle of the inebriated driver. This recklessness needs to stop before another child pays the consequences of an irresponsible individual. Gregory & Ziezulewicz, (2014) report from 2001 to 2010, 2,344 children under age 15 were killed in crashes involving at least one alcohol-impaired driver. Illinois recorded 42 of those deaths during that time, holds one of the lower rates of child passengers killed in crashes involving impaired drivers. South Dakota had the highest rate. New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts registered the lowest rates. The report reveals of those 2,344 deaths, 1,515 of the children were with impaired drivers. Most of the drivers survived the crashes, while the unrestrained children died. In this writer’s opinion, this article used descriptive statistics to get the point across to the readers. This writer’s thinks the authors of the article are trying to use these statistics as a tragic example of the recklessness of the driver. The authors cited their references but the reader would have to do research to see if the numbers are actually...

...Analysis of Newspaper Research Report Results Paper Diana Hernandez HCS/438 6/8/2015 Dr. Silvio Di Gregorio Introduction In this article, Wang (2014) has written about several studies which allow us to explore the possibility of risk factors that are associated with the link to autism before birth, and to look at what scientific evidence is showing as opposed to what the media coverage speculates about autism. This challenges us to approach the risks of autism different from what recent press attention has written about it and to explore other clues into autistic brains. The Statistical Procedures Mentioned in the Study New studies show that abnormalities may appear in autistic brains prior to birth. The purpose of this article is to open people’s eyes to true risk factors associated with autism and not false beliefs. The measure of risk ratio was used to compare odds of different circumstances in the life and environment of autistic children. The big question Wang asks is “How large is the increase risk for autism?” According to the CDC (2015), the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) network estimates one out of every 68 children is identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In the last few years, the focus has shifted from environmental factors and the diagnosis at the age of two or three, and the new focus is on the importance of inheritance factors. The risk factors are divided into two sections. One side shows the amount of time...

...The Usage of Meta Tags The Usage of Meta Tags Meta tags are used by search engine spiders to gather information about the current page the spider is crawling. This data is then used to help the search engines create what are called Search Engine Results Pages. There are three main types of Meta tags, title, description and keywords. The title tag should be something that users will be able to search for in the search box. For example if you’re a breeder of pit bulls, then make the title tag informing users that you are. Descriptions are typically used on the SERPs as an overview of information contained in the page. Keywords are typically used by search engines to aid in ranking the paper besides other similar pages on the SERPs. The keywords tag should be used to sum up what the site it about in detail using “to the point words” for what information is on the current page. This allows a user to type in the general idea of their search and for the spider to crawl for those words. The description tag should be a brief description on what your site offers, does, or is about! For example, if your page is about breeding pit bulls pups in your area, describe the type of puppies, prices, and what...

By synthesizing relevant literature from cognitive psychology, marketing, and e-commerce, this study identifies key contextual factors that are conducive for creating brand positioning online via SERPs. In two experiments, the authors establish that when Internet users’ implicit beliefs (i.e., schema) about the meaning of the display order of search engine results are activated or heightened through feature priming, they will have better recall of an unknown brand that is displayed before the well-known brands in SERPs. Further, those with low Internet search skills tend to...
