I. Roberta and the team
Roberta has working as an accountant in the Finance Division for 12 years and she has never been working elsewhere. She is 38-years old and has a family of two children and a husband who has been an unemployed for more than 2 years. Roberta has to work hard to support her family and she relies very much on the social benefits provided by the company. The atmosphere at home is additionally tensed up by the very unpleasant nature of her husband: an abusive person who lowers her self-esteem and treats her disrespected, he has always been against it she to grow professionally (to attend courses in English/accounting/financial reporting, to enhance her qualifications by further study, etc) and to make good career. And she is very obedient wife. At the same time Roberta is a capable and an intelligent person; sociable and has good communication with colleagues. As a whole she fits well within the team in the department. She is disciplined and organized and that is one of the reasons most of the daily routine and even boring tasks to be given her. And she never complains nor grumbles. She just does all tasks given and always meets the deadline.
The team consists mainly of young (around 30-years old), highly qualified people, ambitious, in some cases painful ambitious people eager to prove themselves as knowledgeable and capable, who seeks rapid carrier advancement. Nobody feels threatened by Roberta; just the contrary, they appreciate that there is someone always ready to take the most boring and unattractive tasks that actually involves no additional skills or creative thinking. But at the same time the team does not treat Roberta as one of them – even her work is very helpful for the department, she is one level under and her success in routine and technical tasks is often minimized. She is just a “cog in a wheel”.

The three phases provide a straight forward step by step approach of solving issues while also thinking in depth instead of jumping to conclusions.
