...This car purchasing experience was the best I have ever had. The staff was knowledgeable, and worked diligently to get me the car that I wanted, in a way that I could manage, with the best interest rate possible. Everything about the car I purchased was explained to me before I left, the car was detailed, and filled with gas before we pulled off the lot. We were given information for contacting the dealership in case of questions or problems, as well as had our first maintenance appointment scheduled. All in all, it was the least painful experience I have ever had purchasing a car, taking less than 3 hours from start to finish, and now I have a car I can count on to transport my family on a daily basis. Mike Young made us the day and changed a bad experience (with another dealership) for the best. It was at the end of the day, of a business day, and we left from Toyota of Kirkland with a new 2014 Highlander I was looking for. I appreciate the honesty and integrity the salesperson and the others at the center provide myself even providing us with snacks and beverages. (Lets just say that buying a car takes hours, and one gets a little hungry and thirsty heh.) Last summer I was shopping for a gift for a friend of mine. I went to the Gucci store in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Dr. As I entered the Gucci store I didn’t get any help. There weren’t any workers available. Finally a lady asked me if I needed help. She helped me with the gift for my friend. We found a very beautiful purse...

...Lisa Miller February 9, 2014 Homework 5 Intro to Business POSITIVE EXPERIENCE I have had a wonderful experience when I purchased my vehicle almost three years ago. That seems a little bit odd huh? You don’t usually hear people say that had a wonderful experience from a car salesman when purchasing a vehicle. In fact, there are five things that you should know about a car salesman that a lot of people do not know about (autos.aol.com/article). The first thing you should know about is he needs you more than you need him. This just simply means that he makes you feel like you can’t possible buy a car on your own and that you need him to hold your hand through the process. In reality, he needs you. A car salesman works on commission, so if he is not selling any vehicles, he cannot pay his bills or rent. So, keep in mind, that car salesman needs your business more than you need him. He is just a small fish in a big pond and there are many more options than just that one salesman or dealership. The second thing you should know about is he is really not in control, you are. They are trained to know how to play the field. He makes it seem like he has control of the entire situation and you must go along with it. That is definitely not the case. You, as the customer, have the right to say no to his offers if it is not what you are looking for. You should never settle for anything less than what you want. The next thing you should know about is, no matter what he says or does, it...

...education and experience of your group before you prepare your talk. One way to do this is ask your host or simply ask the audience some questions before you start. Will you be talking to a group of five, 50, or 500? This may not impact what you say, but it may impact how you say it and what you bring with you. A hands-on demonstration planned for a group of five will not work so well with a group of 50. So knowing the audience is critical. Subject interest and knowledge of the audience is also a key thing. Just because people are attending the talk does not mean they know anything about the subject, or that they have the same level of understanding of the subject you do. Speakers are typically experts on their subject but do not mistakenly assume that the audience has the same level of knowledge, education, and background information. This is not true at all times. Do the people in your audience have a high school diploma, two-year technical school degree, Bachelor's or Master's degree, or a Ph.D.? You need to talk differently to each group. You may need to dress differently for each group as well. Another important thing that you know about your audience is their experience and expectations. There is a difference between knowledge and experience. Someone might be very knowledgeable about something (through reading), but may never have actually experienced the topic first hand. You may or may not be talking about something with which the audience has actual experience. If they...

...Case Study Chapter 15 Leadership Question 1: I would consider Jim Blaylock a figurehead leader. First because he didn’t have any experience with sales, but in spite of this he was chosen to be vice president of sales. Regardless he would have been able to over come this if he had the willingness to learn from his team and humility. He did the opposite though he had a harsh and extreme attitude that made it so he didn’t care for his team nor clients. Therefor he showed no skills in building relationships. So with this major characteristic and the fact that he was also unable to deliver results one could easily categorize him as a figurehead. Question 2: I would consider Jim Blaylock an incompetent manager because of first his lack of subject matter expertise. Jim was placed in a head sales position but had no former experience with sales. On top of this he wasn’t able to build a team like needed, so therefor was unable to use any expertise from his followers. His attitude actually made him more distant from his followers than anything. So with these problems I would definitely classify Blaylock as an incompetent manager. Question 3: First off Jim was recruited straight from college and the company paid for him to go and complete law school, because of this he was promoted very quickly. From the information we are given though we can’t be sure whether he was promoted from his knowledge of the position or not. Its possible that since the CEO portrayed him has a bright...

...1. I can identify almost all type of variables that could affect performances reviewing the two interviews. The way the candidates describe their experience shows off that they have , even if in different views, a role perception about the job. Furthermore, opposite motivations and aptitude to the work are remarked through their expectancies and behavioral strategies. They present skill levels depending on their carrier’s path . I think organizational (defining only the area) and the environmental factors relating to the job are missing. 2. In my opinion, Dag Wicklo (DW) has a better perception of the work is going to do because of his previous experience in this field as employee and his love for selling and speak with people. Katharine Bryant (KB) knows the specific technical language but she never work as sales in this particular field and maybe she doesn’t know or remember what does it means to work as employee instead of being an owner. For J.P. Reynolds I think a good variable for perception could be the accuracy in the way candidates see the job with all the pro and cons, so being experienced in this particular field matters. Within motivations I can see again a remarkable will to make money from DW and but I could not for KB. She doesn’t feel stimulate to gain money and this could affect her performance as well. The company’s point of view on motivations has to be in line with maximization of the opportunities. DW seems more willing to try to exploit his balance...

...types of experiences do they expect? What companies do they believe deliver the best experiences? How do consumers prefer to learn about vehicles? In terms of information sources, the Internet, personal networks, and social media platforms rate highly, and much higher than traditional information sources such as television, radio, and direct mail. In fact, more than 70 percent of consumers use the Internet while shopping for new and used vehicles—more than double the usage of any other information source. This reflects consumers’ growing desire for an objective resource of trusted information. Increasingly, analysis shows that consumers are relying more and more on their social media networks and trusted connections for guidance on vehicle purchases. A primary conclusion to draw from these trends relates to control and influence: The most influential sources of information in the vehicle purchasing process exist beyond the traditional span of control of the OEM and dealer to include social influences. 2. Manage the customer experience: The challenge of managing a customer experience that lives beyond the boundaries of the OEM’s four walls is not new. After all, manufacturers have worked to manage customer relationships through independent dealerships. However, due to the ways in which consumer power and vehicle shopping influence are rapidly changing, consumer expectations about their experience in the dealership (which they view as inseparable from their experience with...

...lose focus on his presentation, knowing that the president was not happy of his report. Also, one of his jobs was to evaluate each month's performance and this could also be another factor that influenced the situation where the president was angry of him because of the low sales performance on the women's apparel department. While in an interactionalist perspective, the experience he had as one of the VPs at a small chain of regional clothing stores was very difficult and challenging, especially when it comes to the president who has the inability to accept negative results which also resulted to the VP’s behavior of being so afraid of a simple presentation and not knowing of his unconscious actions that lead the president of the company to be angry with him. 2. Have you ever encountered anyone who behaved in ways that can be compared to the behavior of the teacher? As you think back on your experience, how well does Taylor’s TOT framework help explain the individuals behavior? There will be times when we will have to face someone behaving like the boss in the example, and our group is not an exemption. Each of us had encountered someone with that kind of behavior, having the same kind of experience regarding a teacher. One of us explained that...

...that she has never been through a planning process before, so there’s no need for her to panic. I would then explain to her that the departmental plan is merely a written explanation on how to accomplish and to achieve the objectives discussed and agreed upon in last month’s meeting. I would then begin to tell her to utilize and incorporate her expertise of her 7 years as a sales specialist. She should deal directly with the warehouse clerks and get a printout of what time of the month or year sales is at its peak. I would first suggest that she juts down the specifics on what takes place daily in her department, and also I would suggest that other associates in that department compile the same thing and submit them to Kim. That way she will get the gist of what everyone in her department does and everyone would then be in agreement with that objective. Kim should also seek the previous manager for advice and expert advice if at all possible. I think that Kim’s initial reaction to the planning process is a usual one. Everyone if put into a new position would get cold feet. Even if you have had experience in and with a company for years, your new roll and what is expected in a promotion is new. No one knows what to expect until trained and it is okay to ask questions. Until she becomes familiar with what is expected of her, any new task will seem overwhelming, until she gets the hang of...

...when an experience on a plane with severe turbulence made me think about the irrational fear I was experiencing. The Science of Psychology helped me realise, that my fear of flying was not abnormal but simply a learned emotional response to a situation that provoked intense and terrifying thoughts. Being able to understand my phobia and how I can control it is why psychology has changed a part of my life. The diversity of the A Level syllabus has reinforced my commitment. The course has enabled me to work independently and manage my time effectively. These skills were demonstrated in my A Level coursework project which involved extensively researching a topic of my choice. I thoroughly enjoyed this project as I was able to gain an insight into many relevant theories of my chosen subject on figure attractiveness. To support my studies I attended a crime conference in Leicester which was a fascinating experience, from hearing crime investigators talk about their daily challenges to psychopath profilers engaging in the nature vs. nurture debate. I also heard American Nick Yarris' poignant story of spending 20 years on death row after being framed for murder. Attending the conference strengthened my note taking and listening skills. Working in a primary school for a week as a teacher's assistant with children aged 4-5, has furthered my interest in the educational aspects of psychology and I believe that this experience has been useful for a career in psychology. The experience enhanced...

...something beyond human. After his tape ran out Garson Poole felt an intense rush of emotion and feeling simultaneously, a literal, real, physical synesthesia; Garson Poole felt human for the first time. The details he sees, hears, tastes, smells, and touches are significant because they are what finally cause Poole to feel human. The tape filtered Garson's senses: he had one type of touch, one type of hearing, one type of sight, etc; when the tape ran out, the filter was removed, and Garson was able to experience the contrast of an unfiltered world. His statement, "I am living, I have lived, I will never live," can be interpreted as an allusion to "veni, vidi, vici" through the use of asyndeton. The Narrator describes what is happening to Poole's actual mechanical body as if it had no person relying on it, as something that is simply replaceable. After Poole discovered that he was indeed not a human, his quest was to get rid of his reality tape in order to have the "opportunity to experience everything. Simultaneously. To know the universe and its entirety, to be momentarily in contact with all reality. Something that no human can do" (Dick 236). Once Poole did cut the tape, although he had up to 40 minutes to put it back together, he choose to delay long enough so that when he looked into his chest he saw it was too late for him and came to the realization that it was going to be over finally. Dick then uses extensive imagery and metaphor usage with phrases like "the silky texture...

We also thank the members of our Advisory Committee for pushing and challenging us throughout this project. We thank the women who facilitated focus groups and helped us contact the women in this study. Finally, this report would not be possible without the contributions of the women who told us about their experiences. © 2004 Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children ISBN# 0-9688655-3-4 1 “To understand violence, we have to examine both the personal experience and the terrain of that experience.” Dr. Yasmin Jiawani This report is built on the personal experiences of women who have experienced workplace harassment, but their stories are also about the “terrain” or the context of those experiences. In drawing out the commonalities of their experiences, we have begun to shed light on the terrain. We must transform the terrain if women are to have equality and safety in their workplaces. 2 We dedicate this report to Theresa Vince whose death in 1996 changed the views of many people in Ontario about sexual and workplace harassment. Her tragic and untimely death showed us that workplace harassment can no longer be easily dismissed as a trivial problem. Fundamentally, the goal of this report is to prevent any other woman from losing her ...

I want to continue in enhancing data accessing or mining applications for the GCSS-J program, as well as mentor others in applying the same application to their programs. Leadership: 1. Since the trust of the company’s leadership has seen fit to place me in areas of greater responsibility, I want to continue with working with peers and mentoring less experienced associates, so the company may optimize my experience. Teamwork is an essential element in TASC’s service to our government. 2. With my seasoned experience in testing protocols and the research requirements prior to fielding, my valuable knowledge would be appropriately used in leading a program or assigned more involvement in mentoring others in preparation for testing, requirements during the testing, and standards for compiling testing data. Development: 1. I would like to continue my development at TASC by submitting a bid for a government project. In so doing, I would research, coordinate, and conduct all phases required to meet the contracted project. Concurrently, if the task requires additional personnel, I want to develop an environment of responsibility while leading the task with the core competencies of leadership...
