...Ebony Enman Week 4 Assignment October 20, 2014 To: Delta Press Release and Marketing Team From: Ebony Enman Subject: Skymiles program change Greetings Everyone: I would like to offer my gratitude to everyone on the Delta marketing team. Everyone who had a say in the implementation of the one-way skymiles awards chart. This past February, your company released the revenue based frequent flyer program that will begin the beginning of 2015. Considering the input of this program it was determined based off meeting customer needs and would be beneficial to the customer based off data analyst. Understanding that customers will not earn miles based on miles flown, but you’ll earn them based on ticket cost. I also see that you have included other great customer incentives such as, adding more award tiers, allowing one-way awards for half the cost of a roundtrip, excellent marketing! However, I might have only found one down fall to this program and it is for the people who travel often and are good at trying to outsmart the system. Bottom Line to your new changes is that when the economy is doing poorly or well, it is still a great way to get people on planes and a great way to generate additional revenue through partnerships. I for one certainly don’t see these changes as being hurtful for everyone. This press release was very informational and promotional. The information that was released was detailed and at the same time promoting for those who haven’t considered...

There are also more job opportunities than before, which will benefit the people of Hull. There used to be a lot of social problems in the city and people had no control over their lives. ...Writing Sample At times you will be asked to provide writing samples as part of your job or internship application. A writing sample provides an employer with an example of how you organize and express your thoughts. The purpose is to convince an employer that you can create the kind of written materials and handle the type of work that is expected of an employee in the position for which you are applying. A writing sample is common for positions in media, law or research assistant roles in a variety of industries. Below are some tips to help you decide what to submit and how to prepare writing samples: Choose samples that demonstrate the type of writing you would do on the job. Unless otherwise specified by the employer, and if possible, make sure that your samples match the genre of the writing that the position would involve. For example, if you are applying for journalism positions, submit “clips”—actual articles that have been published in a campus newspaper, blog, or other publication. For a research position, submit an in-depth analysis of an issue or a topic. For a PR position, submit a press release that you have written from a previous internship or as the marketing chair of a campus group. If you don’t have any, you can write a press release for an upcoming event (just make sure you specify that it has not been published). Submit your best writing. If you are deciding between two papers you have written, and one is better written than the other but your...

...hours in order to be further considered for employment at the company. Mrs. Jones went down to the drug testing facility to submit a sample but was unable to provide a urine sample due to her particular condition. She then returned from the drug testing facility to speak with a supervisor at the company to let them know that she was unable to provide a sample, because she had been diagnosed with end stage renal disease. The woman’s particular medical condition of end stage renal disease rendered her unable to provide a urine sample. The supervisor asked her to return to the testing facility and ask if they could let her take an alternate test instead of the urinalysis. The woman returned to the drug testing facility like the supervisor told her. When she asked the testing facility about the alternate test, the facility told her that they could administer an alternate drug test with the permission of the hiring company. Mrs. Jones then relayed the information back to the Wal-Mart supervisor, but the supervisor declined to order a different test. The supervisor informed Mrs. Jones that they would be unable to offer her employment because she was unable to complete a urinalysis drug test. The result of this was that her application was closed due to her not completing the drug test within the 24 hour window ("U.S. EEOC Wal-Mart Press Release", 2014). This conduct from Wal-Mart resulted in a lawsuit from the EEOC. Mrs. Jones was awarded $72,000 and Wal-Mart is required from...

...Impacts of Chinese Government PR 1 Running Head: IMPACTS OF CHINESE GOVERNMENT PR Impacts of Chinese Government Public Relations: PR Expertise, Legitimacy and News October 31, 2007 Impacts of Chinese Government PR 2 Abstract Over the past five years, Chinese government has deployed considerable amount of resources to enhance government public relations expertise with the hope of achieving more positive media coverage by Western media. However, the effectiveness of government public relations strategies is not only contingent upon public relations expertise but also upon legitimacy of Chinese government perceived by journalists. This study finds out that Chinese government public relations efforts have been helpful in raising the number of attributions to Chinese government sources in U.S. media coverage of China, but do not improve the image of China in U.S. media coverage and the valence of China in American public opinion. Impacts of Chinese Government PR 3 Impacts of Chinese Government Public Relations: PR Expertise, Legitimacy and News China has become more involved in the international community economically and politically since the reforming and the opening policies in the late 1970s. As a result, China has gradually played an important role in international economy and politics. Simultaneously, China has seen an influx of Western tourists and businessmen. Inevitably, these changes spur demand for various kinds of information of China, and lead to a dramatic...

I also thank participants at a UCSB seminar, the Western Economics International Association’s Conference, and the University of Colorado Environmental and Resource Economics Workshop. ∗ 1 The Al Gore Effect: An Inconvenient Truth and Voluntary Carbon Offsets Abstract This paper examines the relationship between climate change awareness and household behavior by testing whether Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth caused an increase in the purchase of voluntary carbon offsets. I find that in the two months following the film’s release, zip codes within a 10-mile radius of a zip code where the film was shown experienced a 50 percent relative increase in the purchase of voluntary carbon offsets. During other times, offset purchasing patterns for zip codes inside the 10-mile radius were similar to the patterns of zip codes outside the 10-mile radius. There is, however, little evidence that individuals who purchased an offset due to the film renewed them again a year later. This research has implications for how information campaigns, which are commonly used by policy-makers to address market failures, affect the behavior of households. Keywords: climate change, voluntary carbon offsets, al gore, an inconvenient truth, awareness campaign 2 1 Introduction Awareness...

...including national capital Delhi, imposed a ban on the instant noodles following a controversy over food safety fears. “The trust of our consumers and the safety of our products is our first priority. Unfortunately, recent developments and unfounded concerns about the product have led to an environment of confusion for the consumer, to such an extent that we have decided to withdraw the product off the shelves, despite the product being safe,” Nestle said in a press release posted on its website late on Thursday night. The decision came on the day five states – Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand — cracked the whip against the popular ‘two-minute’ noodles that is widely consumed across the country and contributes over a quarter to Nestle India’s revenues. At least 10 other states have sent samples of Maggi noodles for tests amid a widespread panic “We promise that the trusted MAGGI Noodles will be back in the market as soon as the current situation is clarified,” Nestle said in the release. “MAGGI Noodles are completely safe and have been trusted in India for over 30 years,” Nestle reiterated, reacting to the lab tests that showed the noodles contained dangerously high levels of lead and chemical flavour enhancer Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). Health experts say excessive intake of lead can cause damage to the kidneys, bones and nervous system and is particularly harmful to children and can cause learning disorders. MSG, on the other hand, can damage...
