I think self-esteem is the most important level of need because throughout your life you are going to face many challenges. Self-esteem is being confident having positive attitude and gaining respect. Even though you are going to face challenges, you need “CONFIDENCE”. Say you are in a basketball game, and there are lots of people watching so you need to be calm and confident! In yourself throughout the game that will only make you better and more relaxed. You can't play a game or do anything if you are nervous, at least Another part towards others is accomplishment. I think accomplishment play a big part of this is for example completing high school and college is very important. Why? so you can have something to fall back on matter of fact , when you get high in life and you actually have the feeling of succeeding in something ,then you would understand that you're gone keep wanting to feel that feeling more and more . Last but not least, gaining “RESPECT” throughout your life journey. For example, say if you want people to come to your basketball game you must show people how you are on the court and outside the court and your teammates and everybody. If you do that, then that is just opening more doors for your future and more. Over all the other levels does not determine on what your future maybe but after reading my writing i hope you do get the true understanding of self-esteem. I do believe any and everybody can make it using my three reasoning I

Self-concept explains the organization of attributes and the roles that a person sees when looking at them. The general definition of self begins with social interaction, the social interaction helps to guide or influence a person’s behavior. Myers (2010) states that self-concept has three sources: self-perception theory, self-presentation, and cognitive dissonance theory (p.140). Building Self Esteem Essay

...Building Self-Esteem Essay PSY-460 Fundamentals of Counseling July 21, 2013 Self-esteem is the part of our personas that includes the positive and negative of self-assessment or evaluations, and speaks to how we feel and/or think about ourselves. In other words, the attitudes, ideas, and convictions we have about ourselves can determine who we are, what we can do, and who we can become (Mann et al, 2004). It incorporates the aggregate of our overall beliefs, opinions, understanding(s) and awareness of the personal qualities and characteristics we possess. In life we will experience a lack of assurance or confidence at some time or another, however, those persons who experience low self-esteem are not happy; and are often sad or dissatisfied much of the time (Burton, 2012). We find that self-esteem is a significant psychological component that influences our well-being, as well as enhances the value and quality of our lives. Many in the medical field concur that a healthy self-esteem can offer an advantage to professional success, eliminate many psychological disorders, as well as contribute to better overall health and social behavior. This paper aims to discuss how a simple retooling of a person’s system can alleviate negative views of themselves and/or situations leading to possible psychological disorders. The development of self-esteem and/or how we feel about ourselves begins at a very early age and never stops until we close our eyes in death. In other...

The reason for the quick responsiveness is simple; it is much easier to get a project started if there are only a few people to obtain approvalfrom. Apple initially grew fast, because decisions were made at the lowest possible level. Corporate headquarters made policy and oversaw all activities, but the local employees made the day-to-day decisions on the ground in countries all over the world. During infancy, individuals begin to acquire and organize information, which help them to understand the concept of the self in the social world. Children learn to interact in the social world from their learning experiences and the environment. This paper will focus on the concept of the self in the social world, a description of my life in regard to self-concept, self-esteem and self-efficacy, and a description of two social experiences that affected my personal development. Self-Esteem

...Self-Esteem over Logic and Beliefs Columbia College, Missouri Abstract Self-Esteem gives a person the right to value themselves. Our self-esteem sometimes overpowers our logic, and can lead us to act in ways that are not always our own. This paper examines how the following theories; Theory of Cognitive Dissonance, Self- Evaluation Maintenance Theory, Self-Affirmation Theory, Rationalization Trap and Self-Discrepancy Theory impact a person's self-esteem decisions. Where people in different cases come to realize that the choices they have made overpower their superior perfect logic, they have to deal with the consequences that come along with the choices they have made. Self-Esteem over Logic and Beliefs According to Cherry (2010), “self-esteem is how a person values oneself”. It is a personality trait which comes from the inside of a person. It is all about what one believes about his/her looks, emotions, and behavior. It is an extremely essential need in a person so they can behave normally and be socially healthy. Self-esteem is intertwined with a person’s thoughts, and can also be called self-worth, self-respect or self-value. According to Kruger and Dunning (1999), “People often hold overly complimentary opinions of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains.” Many individuals end up doing things wrong without even realizing it, for the sake of a positive self-esteem. This paper will give examples of behavior that throw logic and common sense...

Self Perception

...Reflection on the Self Paper Deonte Jones PSY/400 January 26, 2012 Yvonne Moore Personal Reflection on the Self Paper At the cross-roads of the objective reality of behavior and the myriad of perceptions, representations, and schemas that constitute human thought is the mediating element of the self. It cannot be discounted that the individual self does not exist in a vacuum, but rather in a social framework that includes regular contact with other selves. The self is more a confederation or alliance of concepts than a single, unilateral mechanism, bringing together the possible-self, the social-self, and the self-concept into one amalgamated system. However, the self can be better understood upon a full examination of the aforementioned subordinate parts and within the context of a practical application of the self onto two social situations within my own life. Self Concept Central to the idea of self is the answer to the question: “Who am I?” This question can be answered in many ways, but it is the piecing together of the potential answers that constitute our complete self-concept (Myers, 2008). The self-concept can further be divided into self-schemas—specific beliefs about the self that help define the self-concept. Humans use self-schemas as templates to organize the world without and the mental life within. For instance, higher learning approaches can intrinsically motivate if the content is perceived relevant to a student’s self-schemas and fosters...

Broken Family

...*RESEARCH PAPER* TOPIC: “BROKEN FAMILY” SUBMITTED BY: LURLYN M. BANGERO SUBMITTED TO: MRS. ASELA PINGUL INTRODUCTION: Family is the basic unit of society. This is the most essential component of a country. Governance will only be effective if the citizens are properly oriented with good values and virtues, which is commonly taught by the family. A home is where a family lives. It may be alternated to the word ‘house’ but a house is more appropriately referring to the material structure, whereas ‘home’ refers to the intangible things that bind together the family members. It is the immeasurable love and care that keeps together the mother, father and their children. However, no matter how ideal a family in the terms of their relationship, there are still hardships and misunderstandings that will come along the way. It is just part of any relationship anyway. But, the sad part is when one of the family members gave up and the others have no choice but to accept and let go. Thus, the family starts to be broken. I. FACTOR THAT BREAK UP A FAMILY A. Self Esteem

...Self esteem We all at some point in our lives come across a situation where we may think that there is no end to this misery, no way out, where every thing seems to stop and we have a feeling that we are falling into infinity; we keep falling and falling and expecting that at some time we will hit rock bottom but that never happens. The rock bottom doesn’t appear, we get no closure and what hurts the most is the thought that are we ever going to come out of this pit? Are we ever going to hit rock bottom and stop deteriorating? What’s most challenging about this situation is not the fact that we are in mental, physical, financial or emotional agony but the fact that the fire that kept burning inside of us, which kept giving a light of hope, that zest we had; slowly dies out. We loose confidence and self esteem. Now that’s going to hurt a lot because if we accept that this is what we deserve and no matter how hard we try, no matter if we bet our lives on it; we will never get out of it then our self esteem is shattered and its broken pieces are scattered. Now how do we start building self-esteem from scratch? How do we convince ourselves that there’s still a way out? Well, there’s this old story, which goes like this: - A guy wanted to be very successful and so he went to his guru, his mentor and told him that I want to be successful. I want to be famous, rich and appreciated. I want my self-esteem. I want to achieve this goal more than anything else. The guru said-“Well...

Personal Reflection on the Self Paper

...Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 1 Personal Reflection on the Self Paper By Joe Everett April 21, 2014 University of Phoenix Personal Reflection on the Self Paper 2 The study of one’s self is a part of social psychology. A person to person in social psychology is not the same as self, now if you asked someone to identify what is self their response will be different all the time because every person will tell you a different response. However, even with all the different responses it does not make any of the answer wrong, it has to do with the person’s perspective that determines what they feel is self, it is because of this we have to wonder how many self’s are we dealing with. If we asked a person that question, they might answer that more than one exists. With this kind of response it is correct because we have to see the inner self, interpersonal self, body self, and the social self. What is considered us or yourself is self-recognized and self identifies; however, what all of this means is that other peoples are not going to see you the same way. There are a couple different theories that deals with such effect and the illusion of transparency. There is what is called a spotlight effect, and this is when a person believes that everyone is looking at them, they think that everyone’s focusing all their attention on how one’s they look or even behavior like, but in reality not one is really paying attention...

Goal interdependency is key for understanding cooperation/competition relationships perceived by the involved parties as "win-loose/win-win" situations. Skills and Knowledge (Deutsch, 2006): skills and knowledge are key requirements in order to predict, avoid, manage and resolve conflicts. Deutsch (Deutsch, 2006, p. 18) refers to three levels of skills. First, skills have to do with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Second, it is emphasized that skills are required to sustain a cooperative conflict resolution process. Third, skills are essential for developing effective group problem-solving and decision-making processes. Self Esteem in Adolescents with Anorexia

...Self Esteem In Adolescents with Anorexia Angelica Benavides Passaic County Community College Self Esteem Self-esteem is a large contributing factor in adolescents with anorexia. A person’s self-esteem has to do with their feelings of self-worth and their judgment of oneself. A person’s self-esteem has to do with how they view themselves and whether or not they do so in a good or bad manor. Self-esteem is established in the younger years in life with the help of a persons loved ones, such as parents, educators, and role models. Educators, parents, business and government leaders agree that we need to develop individuals with healthy or high self-esteem characterized by tolerance and respect for others, individuals who accept responsibility for their actions, have integrity, take pride in their accomplishments, who are self-motivated, willing to take risks, capable of handling criticism, loving and lovable, seek the challenge and stimulation of worthwhile and demanding goals, and take command and control of their lives. (Reasoner, 2010) Building a healthy self-esteem is a crucial part of one’s growing process. It’s particularly important that a healthy self-esteem is established in order for someone to have positive thoughts about themselves in anything thing they do in the future.
