After having everything that success could offer, Fay began to feel as if something were missing. Eventually, his establishments were raided and he was faced with the threat of jail time. Faced with the possibility of spending his life in jail and losing everything he had, he made the commitment to believe in Jesus. Fay is currently a Chaplain with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and a host of the radio show, “Let’s Go”. He evangelizes by sharing his testimony and loving people with simple, basic methods of sharing the gospel. Content Summary Fay begins his book by describing the state of evangelism in churches today. The way that my church explained it to me is that were 5 steps: 1. There is a problem: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:3, NIV). Explain that we are all sinners and that there are none except God that are righteous. 2. The problem comes with a price: “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 6:23). Since we are sinners, we are deserving of punishment in hell. 3. Payment of the price was paid by Christ’s sacrifice: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). As propitiation for our sin, Christ took it all on His shoulders and died for us. 4. Starting with Romans 3:10-12, 23 “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”(NKJV) And working your way through seven or eight verses you can get an unbeliever from recognizing that they are a sinner in need of salvation to being saved to one who can be saved through the grace of God. The end being that the person understands and accepts Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (NKJV) Advantages of using this method: There are only a few verses in this method and they are very easy to memorize which allows the person witnessing to stay on track, and avoid the need to thumb through your Bible to look for the appropriate verse. People want to know that you know what you are talking about, and that you are confident and comfortable talking about a topic. Even if the person decides not to take any further action at least you know you have given them a solid Bible based argument for their need of salvation. To truly understand Christianity, we must dive deep into the Biblical teachings and share the primary foundation of their beliefs. “Christianity is a faith based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus” (Fisher, 2005, pg. 284). In the beginning of this story we must start with Jesus’ mother, the Virgin Mary was visited by an angel, whom told her that she would conceive a baby and he would be the Messiah. She should name him Immanuel, which means God with us. An angel visited Joseph as well, who told him that Mary was blessed by the Holy Spirit and would have a son, who would save the people from their sins. Mary and Joseph obeyed God, the baby was born in a stable, laid in a manager and they called him Jesus, meaning God with us (Matthew 1:18-25, New International Version). At the age of 30, Jesus started his mission and selected a group of 12 disciples to help him share his message. He went place to place and preached about God’s love, he performed miracles, such as feeding a multitude of people from five fish and two loaves of bread (Matthew 14:18-20). As Jesus continued his journey he was joined by many followers as they were in awe of his words and teachings (Matthew 7:28).
