Allister felt troubled that a church member told Tank, his problem was the result of sin in his life. He wanted to speak with him to try to reverse the damage done to his friend. He dropped by for a visit.
“Bro, the other day you shared a number of concerns that are bothering me greatly.” Allister sipped on a coffee nervously. “I’m honored that you were able to trust enough to disclose those private moments.”
Tank listened with trepidation. He wondered if Allister was there to lay an additional burden on his shoulders. That, he couldn’t deal with at that moment.
After swallowing a mouthful of donut Allister demonstrated his love for truth.
“When they told you there was sin in your life. It was wrong and cruel of them. God loves Tank Brooks, no matter what he believes he did in his past.
Brother, I know you’re carrying…show more content… I told my wife Ellie about the war. She couldn’t take it. It affected her and in the end, she left. I’m sure, what I told her along with my actions, had a bearing on her decision. You’re my only friend Allister and I don’t want to jeopardize our relationship.”
“I can assure you that won’t happen,” he encouraged confidently. “Tank, you need someone to talk to about this. If you share it, you won’t carry the burden alone anymore.”
Tank cut him off giggling.
“Forgive me for laughing Allister. My wife made the exact same observation and then when I was at my weakest she just up and left.”
Not wanting him to dwell on it, Allister interjected.
“I feel terrible that happened. Were you able to forgive her?”
“Forgive her, I’m the one in need of her forgiveness. I brought her a monster back from the war. I hurt her and my daughter in every way imaginable.”
“All right, then, were you able to forgive yourself?”
“How can anyone, even for a moment, imagine that I could forgive a murderer, a baby killer? Could you forgive your neighbor if he was a depraved child killer?”
“Certainly, I can Tank. Jesus, in Mark 11:26
