...think that social networks must look random too, however like we studied in this class they aren’t, The Network I chose is Facebook, the most popular social media platform with an estimate of 900 million monthly users. Most of you in this room are on Facebook, and for those of us who aren’t, you for a fact know someone on facebook. I chose facebook to write about because I feel like it is almost identical to actual real life social networks. Some of the topics I’m going to write about are the following ‘ 1. Hubs: People in real life and people on facebook cluster into groups which have hubs. The hubs are usually the social butterflies who know everyone, talk to everyone, and introduce their friends to one another. IF you look at your faceook friends you might have like two large clusters of friends…. This brings me to my second main topic. Small world networks 2. Small world Networks: Facebook is an example of a small world network because through these key people we are all connected to each other through only a few steps. Facebook’s “6 degrees of separation” is actually 4.74. When I moved to university It felt like the degrees of separation on face book was only 1. say story Dheeraj and amman. 3. The third thing Im going to try to do is break down facebook into network science basics. For example: All out accounts are nodes If we follow someone, that’s a directed link If we are friends with someone that’s an undirected network The celebrities...

...PropAdvwork Proposal University of Maryland University College Shiv LLC will greatly benefit from using Windows Server 2012 to manage their network. Windows Server 2012 brings great updates to security and functionality over past editions of Windows. In this proposal, the major areas I will cover are Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, File Services, Remote Services, and WSUS (Windows Server Update Services). These major roles have features that will make Shiv LLC Company’s infrastructure run smoothly. Active Directory Shiv LLC will have sites across a large geographic location. Because of this, a regional domain model should be used. Domains will be broken down into where users are working. For example, currently Shiv LLC has three locations, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Houston. This means there will be three domains, representing each of these cities. This strategy will make sure the network can be maintained by regional administrators, who will only worry about users in their area of the network. With this style of deployment, it can be difficult to decide what will be the forest root domain. The main staff for the company is in two cities, Dallas and Houston. This makes it difficult to make one of these sites the forest root domain. To make this decision neutral, a dedicated forest root domain can be suggested. This domain will be created only to function as the forest root. It will not contain and users, except for service administrator accounts for the forest root....

...Ocpar, Inc. Proposal Bill Johnson Strayer University April 29, 2012 Statement of Need Ocper, Inc. currently has 20 Windows peer-to-peer client computers which are all connected via coax cabling. The president also indicates that the company plans to double in size over the next two years, but she is leery about drastically altering the computer environment. They have indicated that they will possibly be expanding from 20 to 40 users over the next few years. The president has indicated that she would prefer to hold the costs down thought she has indicated that this upgrade is an investment for the future.. My proposal consists of the following: First of all I have proposed to her that they upgrade their PC’s to an Ethernet network which will add more speed and stability to their network. I have suggested that Ocpar buy a total of (20) twenty Intel Gigabit CT PCI Desktop Network adapters at $31.99 per for a total of $639.80. I am also proposing they upgrade their network to a scalable distributed backbone network centralized around a Cisco Small Business 300 Series Managed Switch SF300-24 (24 ports) at a cost of $224.99. The one large item I am proposing to change their network is the purchase of one (1) Dell PowerEdge T310 Server at $3,643.00. ...Request for Proposal The first change I would make would be to delete the router going from the firewall to the phone network. I then would separate the phones from the computers. I would put all of the phones and the phone network on VLAN 10. I moved all of the computers that were originally on VLAN 1 & 10 with the phones to VLAN 8. I would then delete the switch linking all of the servers. After that, I want to create a protected network for the application server and the accounting server from the firewall. I then would move the protected network servers to VLAN 4. I would then create another link from the firewall to go to a DMZ containing the Email Server and the Web Server. The DMZ would be moved from VLAN 1 to VLAN 6. The last thing I would do would be to move the wireless access point from VLAN 1 to VLAN 2. By separating everything on the network into different VLANs, I feel it will increase security as well as decrease congestion through the VLANs. Since the VLAN separates portions of the network into mini networks, if an attacker was able to get access to the system, they would only be able to see a small portion of the network instead of everything that is on it. By placing the servers with the most important data (the database and accounting servers) in a protected network, it creates an extra level of security. The last major vulnerability that I discovered is that all of the data is in one place, in the server room. If there...
