...Need The Student Council and its cover supervisor Mrs. Hunt have all agreed and concluded that an activities day should be created based on the theme “Children In Need”. Despite the fact that the actual day of the Children in Need has already passed, we decided to go ahead with the plan since it would have been impossible to create the activities day in such short notice. Here is a list of ideas proposed by the members of the student council regarding the event. * Non Uniform Day * Charge £1 which will then be sent off to the charity. * Food Stalls * Some of the food will be provided by the students * Parents will be notified to avoid using ingredients that may cause allergic reactions or exclude other people from eating the food because it contains a certain ingredient (e.g. Gelatine – non-Halal/Kosher) * Raffle * Students purchase a raffle ticket for 50p * A prize to be handed out to the winner and two runner ups (Prize to be determined) * Students to be able to purchase a maximum of 5 ticket * Winner and runner ups to be announced in an all year (or KS3) assembly * Activities * Football tournaments (or other sports) * Cricket Challenges * Running Competitions * Full day focusing on a particular subject * Drama Performance * Staff from the drama studio willing to create a play for students during activities day. Problems with the proposed plan: I have been informed that students from Year 10-11...

...9/29/15 “STUCO Is My Life” My sophomore year of high school was coming to an end. I kept thinking, I had to do something exciting my junior year, or at least get involved. I started hearing about this leadership club, Student Council. Instead of just joining the club, I wanted to be a part of the inside activities and the class. I went in for my interview, and was accepted for a spot in the class the next year. I had come to realize that Student Council was a student-lead organization in which we strived for excellence in not only academics, but creating relationships, showing pride in the school we attend, and learning leadership skills, while also seeking little guidance from our advisors. We learned valuable lessons, while participating in a variety of committees such as Community Service, Environment & Energy, and many others. This organization is one of the communities that I’ve been a consistent member of at James Bowie High School. We value leadership, teamwork, and academics which can be used in real life situations. Student Council is significant to me because it helped me become optimistic and challenged me to do better in life. I am an accepted member of Student Council. When joining STUCO, which is short terminology for Student Council, I had to learn all types of communication, such as mastering what we like to call “The STUCO Clap”. The STUCO Clap was a chant or more so a beat, that everybody in the class had to participate in. Starting off as a newbie...

...many commitments. Throughout my life, I have worked as long and as hard as I possibly can to effect beneficial changes in both school and society. During the summer of tenth grade, I took a number theory course at Johns Hopkins University with students from Alaska, California, and Bogota, Colombia. Similarly, during the summer following eleventh grade, I was one of ninety students from New Jersey selected to attend the Governor's School in the Sciences at Drew University. At Drew, I took courses in molecular orbital theory, special relativity, cognitive psychology, and I participated in an astrophysics research project. For my independent research project, I used a telescope to find the angular velocity of Pluto. With the angular velocity determined, I used Einstein's field equations and Kepler's laws to place an upper bound on the magnitude of the cosmological constant, which describes the curvature of space and the rate of the universe's expansion. In addition to learning science, I recently lectured physics classes on special relativity at the request of my physics teacher. After lecturing one class for 45 minutes, one student bought many books on both general and special relativity to read during his study hall. Inspiring other students to search for knowledge kindles my own quest to understand the world and the people around me. As president of the...

...Good Morning (afternoon) teachers and fellow students. My name is ________ and I am in grade 8. I have been a student at St. Luke’s for 10 years. St. Luke’s is a great school. The teachers are always there for us and the students are the best. When I started at this school, I was four and I couldn’t read or write and didn’t know what to expect. Now I want to give something back to our school. We are lucky to be students at St.Luke’s. While at St. Luke’s, I have participated in many school activities. These include sport teams such as volleyball, basketball and intramural soccer. I have also been a member of the Green team for _____years, and I attend church regularly at St. Luke’s Parish. I am a very strong, committed and dedicated student. I am very well organized and work hard at everything I do. I am very proud to be a student at St. Luke’s and would like to become more involved. So, why do I want to be a part of Student Council? First of all, I want to make a difference. I want to help make kids look forward to coming to school by planning some fun events for all of us so that our memories at St. Luke’s will be great. I would also like to make St. Luke’s more environmentally friendly. Some ideas would be to have more litter-less lunch days and also to plant more trees or even a garden at our school. We could even make announcements to remind the students of how to save the environment even at home. I also think it would be a great idea to have more intramural...

...As a student council officer, I would like to accomplish an appreciable amount of things for the Class of 2019 and all the classes following. I will be running for the Joliet Catholic Academy freshman class Vice President, because I feel that is where I belong and deserve to be on student council this year. There are many reasons I am suitable and worthy for this job. I am trustworthy, responsible, creative, and honest when needed which is what I feel a student council member needs to do their role. I am also willing to devote my time to all student council event which I already have because I attended and worked hard at the Breast cancer awareness volleyball game, the homecoming locker and door decorating (my homeroom door won out of all the freshman doors!), and I attended very briefly the movie night in wishing well court....

...always been involved in student government. For my school district, Student Council starts in seventh grade and extends through twelfth grade. From my seventh grade year through my eleventh grade year, I have been apart of the Student Government Association. For seventh and eighth grade, I was an active representative, but for ninth through eleventh grade, I was the student class president each year. My dream of eventually being Student Body President during my senior year was destroyed when I had to move to Phoenix, Arizona during the middle of my eleventh grade year. My election as Class President presented me with the opportunity to learn the skills of leadership and taught me how to make a positive impact in my school and my community....

...Joining activities such as student council, golf, and student advisory were a few activities that allowed me to let my opinions be heard. I went on to become Student Council President my sophomore year and Ornithology Leader and President my junior year, positions that carried on until graduation that truly allowed me to lead and speak in ways that I chose effective. These accomplishments led me to discover a path I would want to pursue in the future. Leadership is a quality I find in every adult I meet, not necessarily in a leadership position,...

...called The Gathering, at a church where I helped fed the homeless. As I watched hungry families walk in and grab their food, I felt extremely blessed and thankful for the little and the big things that I have in my life. It reminded me that I should always be grateful and I should not take things for granted even if it’s not even important. I have been a part of Student Council. I was a treasurer during my freshman year and president of my class during my years of high school. Taking part as a treasurer made me realize the importance of money and how powerful it is. From this position, I learned about financial planning and budgeting and with these skills, it will help me in the future on how to save money. Taking an important role as a president for two years made me into a more responsible person, especially if you’re representing a whole class. As a president, I’ve learn the duty that one must fulfill and the responsibilities of one must endure. Through my experiences in as an officer, I’ve learned the significance of independent work and self-responsibilities when others are not around. Other than student council, I am also a part of two sports team and National Honor Society. As an athlete, communication, teamwork, and commitment are important skills to acquire....

...I have always been passionate about Student Council at my school. I have been involved in the club at my school from the eighth grade to the present. Although I have been able to be a part of the club, I have always wanted to have a leadership position in the club and make a greater impact at school. Before high school, I always ran for office when I had the chance. In fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, the same girls always beat me for the position. It devastated me because I had the same capabilities as the people who won, but I was never won the election. In eighth grade, I ran for office and it did not end in my favor. During ninth through eleventh grades, I went through a period where I was in Student Council, but I didn’t have the drive or strength to handle failure again....
