According to Nothing Special: Living Zen by Charlotte Beck, attention means a concentration of the mind on a single object or thought. In the book Nothing Special: Living Zen, a student said to Master Ichu, “Please write for me something of great wisdom.” However, Master Ichu kept repeating “attention.” The student didn’t understand what Master Ichu kept mentioning attention, so Master Ichu said “Attention is attention.” Master Ichu meant to say be focus and be aware of what people are telling you and of what’s around you.
