This is a story about how the great white sharks track down their prey and maintain their place at the top of the ocean's food chain. The author researched the sharks on location at the Farallon Islands with professional scientists that closely follow the sharks, recording their feeding and behavior each fall. The book allows the reader to understand what makes the great white shark such an efficient predator. Sharks have the perfect body, high-definition vision, body temperature, rows of teeth, and projectile jaws that allows them to eat a 400-pound seal in under ten bites. It also provides information on the migration routes that the white sharks follow every year. This book won the Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal in 2015.

We will be the first company to enter this specific industry so to take advantage of our first mover advantage we will do substantial promotion to gain maximum market share before any competitors arise. Our demographic is mainly middle-aged with above average income and they spend on average $1300 per year in scuba diving and they prefer quality over value. After conducting a survey it was found that 50% of scuba divers would either definitely buy or possibly buy the Shark Shield. We will be advertising the quality of our product and our target market share is 30% of scuba divers after 5 years. The sale price of the Shark Shield is $750 including $600 in expenses and a $150 (25%) markup. During this time, attendance averaged around 7,000 fans per game and provided an economical and fun night out for adults and kids alike. After a brief hiatus of two years, San Jose moved their affiliate to the city however the results were not like past years. As ticket prices rose and the product on the ice declined with several non-playoff seasons, attendance averages dropped to just over 4,000 (figure 1) and the cost of sending players across the country weighed heavily on the parent club. Although there have been bumps and struggles, Worcester remains a strong market for a professional hockey team, especially one with ties to a local NHL club such as the Boston Bruins. Sea Ranch Research Paper

...safe from Great White Sharks. The seals lounge about providing excellent photo opportunities for photographers and tourists alike. Parks and activities At the north end of Sea Ranch is the 195 acre Gualala Point Regional Park where the coastal forest meets the sea. Rent a kayak and paddle about for an afternoon of water borne fun. Take a walk on the beach where the Gualala River joins the Pacific Ocean. Six park entrances spread along Highway 1 are open to the public with beach access. Rarely will you encounter crowding on these remote beach areas, and wildlife is found often. Annapolis Winery is located high above Sea Ranch. Take the steep and winding Annapolis Road eight miles up into the forest and enjoy a lush pinot noir while the wind rustles the trees above. Good to know Some words of caution since the great outdoors is what attracts most visitors. During the summer season beware of ticks. If you stay on the maintained trails your chance of picking up these unwanted hitch-hikers is lessened. The weather on the coast is unpredictable with storms and fog appearing often throughout the year. For many, the foul weather adds to the attraction of the area. Dress in layers-rain resistant or rain-proof clothing is a good idea, and wear good hiking shoes. Pay attention to No Trespassing signs, especially if you are not staying as a guest of Sea Ranch. If you are a guest you will have a parking pass the allows access to most areas of Sea Ranch. SUMMARY Lodging choices...

...socially acceptable outlet for hostile and aggressive feelings, and the role sport plays as a cultural element to bring meaning to life. Additional attention will be given to aspects of extra-sport character behavior and a determination of whether or not such behaviors support sport stereotypes and/or deviant characteristics. Through internet research, library study, and the use of periodical articles found in the ProQuest databases, I intend to apply the functionalist model of society to show that the fictional football team “The Miami Sharks” highlighted in the movie supports stability and equilibrium in the community of Miami based on common interests and convictions. The world of professional sports, especially professional football, is a world that most will only see on the television or through movies. “Any Given Sunday,” by Oliver Stone, is one such movie. It highlights a portion of a season for the fictional team The Miami Sharks with the interpersonal struggles on and off the field experienced by the characters related to the team. This paper explores the movie “Any Given Sunday” and attempts to discuss the movie in detail by focusing on the socially acceptable outlet for hostile and aggressive feelings, masculinity and gender roles, religion in sport, race in sports, character examples of the personal functions of sport such as feelings of belongingness and social identification, and the role sport plays as a cultural element to bring meaning to life. Norton The Experts Gideon Lask is the founder of BuyaPowa, a UK-based social commerce business. Do Social Deal Sites Really Work? T he sales reps from DailyDilly had just finished their rollicking video presentation, and the laughter in the meeting room was starting to subside. Ruth Davison, the marketing director of Flanagan Theme Parks, was still smiling when she finally spoke. “I’m thoroughly impressed,” she said. “This would give us the marketing capabilities we’ve always wanted.” Will Eastman, Flanagan’s operations director, was beaming. He had suggested doing the promotion with DailyDilly, a fast-growing Australian social-couponing company similar to Groupon and LivingSocial. “Then I think we’re ready to make a decision,” he said. Everyone looked at Allie James, a consultant decades younger than Will and Ruth. Allie had been working with Flanagan for just over a month. She knew she had to kill the DailyDilly initiative but was reluctant to do it with the reps present. “Let’s discuss this off-line,” she said. Will slapped the table. “Come on,” he demanded. “We’re here now.” The DailyDilly reps became wide-eyed. Allie took a deep breath. If Will was going to push her, she’d be blunt. “No, then,” Allie said. “It’s not on.” Will pushed his chair back and walked out of the room...

Malinowski first rose to prominent notice through his studies of Pacific Islanders, especially those conducted among the Trobriand Islanders whose marriage, trade, and religious customs he studied extensively. His best known works include his classic book Argonauts of the Western Pacific (1922) as well as Crime and Custom in Savage Society (1926), The Sexual Life of Savages in North-Western Melanesia (1929), and the posthumously published Magic, Science, and Religion and Other Essays (1948). Malinowski helped develop the field of anthropology from a primarily evolutionary focus into sociological and psychological fields of enquiry. Some of the more noteworthy byproducts of his fieldwork in this direction was various evidence that debunked the Freudian notion of a universal Oedipal Complex and also showed that so-called primitive peoples are capable of the same types and levels of cognitive reasoning as those from more "advanced"...

Report

...The wide, smiling face of Sheikh Mohammed – the absolute ruler of Dubai – beams down on his creation. His image is displayed on every other building, sandwiched between the more familiar corporate rictuses of Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders. This man has sold Dubai to the world as the city of One Thousand and One Arabian Lights, a Shangri-La in the Middle East insulated from the dust-storms blasting across the region. He dominates the Manhattan-manqué skyline, beaming out from row after row of glass pyramids and hotels smelted into the shape of piles of golden coins. And there he stands on the tallest building in the world – a skinny spike, jabbing farther into the sky than any other human construction in history. But something has flickered in Sheikh Mohammed's smile. The ubiquitous cranes have paused on the skyline, as if stuck in time. There are countless buildings half-finished, seemingly abandoned. In the swankiest new constructions – like the vast Atlantis hotel, a giant pink castle built in 1,000 days for $1.5bn on its own artificial island – where rainwater is leaking from the ceilings and the tiles are falling off the roof. This Neverland was built on the Never-Never – and now the cracks are beginning to show. Suddenly it looks less like Manhattan in the sun than Iceland in the desert. Once the manic burst of building has stopped and the whirlwind has slowed, the secrets of Dubai are slowly seeping out. This is a city built from nothing in just a few wild decades...
