Our team has won the proposal. We must focus on correcting the problems that exist within the company. Our team has constructed a survey to help our customers differentiate between our three facilities and help us improve our service and facilities. In this analysis we will explain how the questions relate to our hypothesis and variables, identify the level of measurement for each question, explain the advantages and disadvantages of the delivery method we chose, describe pre- and post-survey activities and their importance, and explain considerable ethical implications when developing and summarizing the survey.
The survey includes questions that relate to the explanatory hypothesis given in the request for proposal. The RFP states that “the customers’ unfamiliarity of each facility’s purpose and expense has led to low income revenue and low occupancy levels.” The low income revenue and low occupancy levels, dependent variables, are a result of the customers’ unfamiliarity of each facility’s purpose and cost, independent variables. The moderating variables, which are poor quality of service and other factors, contribute to the results, the dependent variables. Other variables that affect the outcome include the old infrastructure and the lack of properly maintaining the facilities. The team hopes that this survey can help our customers better understand the difference in our three facilities and help our company better accommodate the customers.
The classification of measurement scales vary in our survey, although we use each of the scale classifications, we mostly use interval classification. The first question on the survey is of ordinal classification in which the response is determination of greater or lesser value. The second question is of nominal classification in which the results are categorical. The third question falls under ratio classification, it involves numbers and a meaningful zero exists. The remainder of the questions is of interval classification, except for question number 10. We chose to use numerous questions under interval classification because “they incorporate the concept of equality of interval,” (Cooper & Schindler, p. 276, 2011) or distance. Such questions are common in many surveys and people are accustomed to seeing that type of question, we hope that use of the questions help our participants feel at ease when taking our survey. We chose to use an open-ended text question for number 10, giving our respondents space to suggest other ways we can improve our facilities and services.
We chose to use the self-administered method for our survey. With this method come several advantages and disadvantages too. The main advantages of this method is that it is low-cost, requires les staff, and participants are anonymous. The front desk clerk will be administering the survey during check-out; the guest can complete it and return it immediately; that will reduce the risk of low response rates. The main disadvantages include the survey cannot be long and complex, and the results will mostly reflect the extremes of the population. However, the front desk clerk’s assignment will be to convince every guest to complete the survey.

...RUNNING HEAD: Survey Paper Survey Paper RES 351 Robert Sotelo 3/17/2013 Survey Paper While working in logistics for my company we had to deal with issues in regards to major internal theft as well as a huge financial loss where our company had to write off approximately $2million in the course of a few months. As a new employee here I was able to see how all departments worked and was able to analyze where some of the problems arose. I had the idea to develop a questionnaire to share with the employees in order to see what their opinions were and in hopes of gathering shared data so that we could present it to our corporate counterparts and try and come up with a viable solution. In developing the questions for the questionnaire a couple of ethical issues arise. First of all when you are dealing with internal theft one must question the integrity of their employees. They must also look at the lifestyle and need of their employees. I’ve worked for many companies in the past that actually will not hire employees if they have a high debt ratio, or have bad credit or a background. These issues need to be addressed in our HR process to see if maybe our company might need to become stricter as well in their hiring process. Another ethical standpoint would be how the employees are being treated and how they view their work setting. In dealing with company theft most employees have been known to not be satisfied with work environment as well as with pay, which in turn...

...Survey Paper In the world of research and information gathering there a number of tools and methods that can be used that will assist in the research process. Among these tools are surveys. Surveys allow researchers to obtain information from individuals through questionnaires delivered through mail, electronically via the internet, or in-person. The method of delivery for the current survey will be through the mail. This will enable researchers to reach a large geographical population range, as well as reach customers who may not frequently visit the business locations. The rate of response will inevitably be low, but a 30% return rate will be acceptable to acquire reliable data. The survey will also be available and presented in-person to customers who visit our banking locations. With the information gathered through the survey, our researchers will be able to begin determining the answer to our question. The survey that has been created will enable researchers to address the problem statement of: “are the highest users of banks services concerned about earning interest on their account balances.” This problem statement requires that information be obtained in two key areas. The first area that information must be obtained is to determine who the highest users of the banks services are. Once that information is obtained, we can begin to determine the importance of earned interest on those accounts. This survey is designed to address both key areas of importance, and is formatted...

This research question arising from the dilemma in the auto industry is one that many American’s found him or herself asking after the government decided to bail them out of their financial crisis. Challenges of Onlne Surveys

...Online Surveys Jiali Ye Georgia State University, USA Chapter VIII AbstRAct The widespread use of personal computers in the work place and at home has created a new opportunity of conducting research. With the increasing accessibility of the Internet and e-mail, using the new medium to distribute surveys is gaining popularity among researchers. The online survey, however, is a “double-edged sword,” with the ability to access a large number of respondents at low costs, but the risk of increasing difficulties to evaluate the quality of the research (Couper, 2000). Concerns over response rates, sampling, and controlling the data collection environment have posed serious challenges to online survey researchers. The purpose of the present chapter is to offer suggestions for addressing these concerns. After a brief discussion on the formats of online surveys, the author will outline the challenges of conducting online surveys, and provide some strategies to overcome these challenges. IntRoductIon formats of online surveys Internet-based research may appear in various forms, but generally there are two formats for online surveys: e-mail surveys and Web-based surveys. Satisfaction Survey Study

...Satisfaction Survey Study Perspective The Satisfaction Survey Study was performed due to the very low number of respondents that had submitted satisfaction surveys during the previous year and to see what the expected number of responses should be in comparison with our peers. Methodology From January to June, 100 patient satisfaction surveys were placed throughout our facility advising patients to take one. These surveys had return envelopes attached to them, without paid postage. One designated individual was responsible for maintaining these surveys so as we could determine the number of surveys that were taken. The surveys that were placed in our office were printed on gray paper.  Goal The goals of this study are to receive a comparable percentage of patient satisfaction survey responses in comparison with our facilities. Comparison/Benchmarks A 30% to 35% response rate is satisfactory according to a study, “Survey Response Rates and Overall Patient Satisfaction Scores,” published in the Journal of Nursing Care Quality 2003 Jul-Sept. And the Patient Survey Website June 2011 Article “What Does Patient Response Mean?”.  Results At the end of the 6 month period, January to June, there were 71 surveys remaining of the original 100 placed throughout our facility by which we determined that 39 surveys had been taken. We received only 6 surveys back during this time period. This is a response rate of 15% which is 20% lower than our benchmarks. In attempts to increase...
