...Risk Paper 1 Pm595 Risk Paper: Buying a new house Project Risk Management Professor: James Reckon By Magued Farag May 24, 2014 TITLE: BUYING A NEW HOUSE TABLE OF CONTENTS INTRODUCTION RISKS IDENTIFICATION RISKS RANKING MATRIX RISKS MONITORING CONCLUSION REFERENCES * INTRODUCTION Whenever considering a major purchase in life one must carefully consider the risks associated with making these purchase decisions. These decisions should be treated as projects in such a way that proper planning, analysis, risk assessment and contingency should all be aspects of the purchase process whether formal or informal. In this paper, I will discuss about a project that many people are familiar to: buying a new house. Few years ago, I moved to a new area and was trying to decide whether or not to purchase a new house, and if so, where should I buy it. I also considered if I should buy a preexisting new house or hire a builder for a new house. Every option had its own set of potential risks. If I continued to rent, was this really just throwing away money. If I purchased a house, could I afford it and was I buying the best house for me and my family? I approached it like any other project, with interviewing people, note collecting, collating, and interpreting the data. After reviewing my expenses and income and examining the tax advantages, I decided to buy a house but knowing that several risks may accompany my decisions, these risks rank from high probability...

Countryside has also decided to include a strict penalty if the contractors fail to deliver a home within the 45 day time period. Moore House has completed a time line of events in which they hope all homes will be completed. The contractors need to be confident they can complete the job within the allotted amount of time otherwise they are going to raise the bid on the building of the 6 houses in order to cover potential penalties. As of now, the penalty holds no exception to bad weather or unexpected delays. Moore House Contractors must now determine the scenario which will bring about the greatest length of time, if they should increase their bid to cover penalties, and determine which areas of the project may require more time and resources. Background Construction groups must have clear deadlines with precise scheduling in order to complete projects in a timely fashion according to the agreed contract. Introduction and Background The economy of Biloxi, Mississippi (MS) was in much need of stimulation following the devastation caused by the Katrina and Rita hurricanes nearly two years ago. Homelessness, illness, hopelessness, and despair are all remains of the wreckage. There has been rampant unemployment in the region; consumer debt has been on the rise. This has fueled the initiative for relief programs, attempts to bridge the gap of governmentally funded programs and the shortcomings of the locally and state-funded offerings. One federal initiative allows Mississippi Home Corporation to offer below-market mortgage rates. Rebuilding has been slow due to the lack of skilled construction workers. Displacement of workers and limited education/training are major causes for the deficiency. Building permit requirements have been made more stringent...

...Elevators in space, google had recently confirmed that it was working on the project for science, this way they could do experiments that could be tried in space. The thing is about working on this type of large scale is that they would have to develop a material to be able to with stand the amount of material that would be place into the building of the space elevator. Currently this project has been placed on the back burner because of the material they would need. One of the things they would have to have is the material that would be stronger by 100 times than the current steel. The only material that is even close to what is needed is carbon nanotubes. The thing is about nanotubes is that we ca make it very well but we haven’t been able to make it in a high quality manner that is over a meter long and what is needed for the project is over hundred miles of the tubing. It is said that by 2025 the technology will be there to be able to create the material to be able to hold the structure for the space elevator, while google still is keeping this as part of their project, the outcome is quite a spectacular idea to bring. There are many thing to consider with this technology. The idea is that in the next five to ten years we will be able to have the technology to perfect the carbon nanotube and by the time they are to get the construction under way it will take another ten to fifteen years after that to be able to work on a structure like this. To support this idea google...
