Technology and relationship

How technology improves the safety of family members. There are a few ways modern technology that can give family members a little release of their shoulders. First they have this app called “Glide”. This app allows you to send video chat and regular texts. Yu can say what you want to say on a video and sends it out. It’s very useful when you want to check up on a family from anywhere, day and night. Someone from far away you can video text your grandparent’s from anywhere if you have trouble visiting them. You can always video chat and see their faces and make sure their doing fine. You can video text them at work, on a vacation or even before you go to sleep. Second theirs is a unique web cam that look just like celling fans lights. It’s called a wireless convert cam. You can keep an eye on your kids when you’re on a date, when your kids come home from school and just to check on your family. You can watch from any touch screen devices. So it’s worth it. Finally, “family Maps”. If you are with the phone company AT@T, then you can add family maps to your plan. This allows you to keep track of your kid’s parent and grandparents, as long as they have their phone devices, they can be track from anywhere, just by a map on your phone as long as you’re the account holder. The unique part is that it doesn’t matter if their phone on and off, you can still keep track of where your family are. Pretty clever. There are ways to improve safety for your family. Technology may not improve a 100%, but improve just enough to know your family is ok.

...Essay #1 – “I Search” Exploratory Essay 1500-2500 words (15% of your Final Grade) This paper is designed to teach the writer and the reader something valuable about a chosen topic and about the nature of searching and discovery. As opposed to the standard research paper where a writer usually assumes a detached and objective stance, the “I Search” paper allows you to relate your personal experience engaged with some aspect of a topic, to hunt for facts and opinions firsthand, and to provide a step-by-step record of the search process. It’s part research paper, part personal narrative, part reflection. • First step: choose a controversial topic broadly pertaining to digital technology, digital media, “the internet,” television, or modern computing technology that truly interests you—specifically some problem or concern you want to be more informed about (use Homework #1 as a launching point). The topic, however, has to be argumentatively rich, meaning that there have to be many different viewpoints on the issue. • Second step: rather than starting with a thesis or claim, you’re going to begin with a question or problem spurred by some personal experience or exploration. Think of yourself like an investigative journalist or social scientist: if you’re writing about online communities, immerse yourself in one; if you’re writing about internet/television/cell phone addiction, deprive yourself for a few days; if you’re investigating some activity, try engaging in that...

Technology Has Made Relationships Complicated. Discuss.

...Technology has made relationships complicated. Discuss. Due to its rapid development, technology nowadays affects every aspect of our lives, and has inevitably become a part of our daily routine, helping us perform numerous tasks without breaking a sweat, but can massive use of technology show its downsides when it comes to things such as maintaining relationships with other people? Even though people list reasons why technology has made relationships more complicated, there are a lot more more reasons in favour of the claim that couples can actually benefit from using technology. On one hand, technology may have certain drawbacks regarding relationships. For example, the fact that you can phone or chat to your partner whenever you want means that you'll spend less and less time actually being with each other in person. Furthermore, a lot of people use various social networks which can cause excessive jealousy, and can also lead to one person meeting a new potential partner, since it's not a long way from sending “hi” on chat to changing your relationship status. On the other hand, technology and relationships go very well together, and for a number of reasons. First of all, social networks don't necessarily have to mean a negative thing, but can provide a helping hand when we wish to find out a bit more about somebody. Also, being able to reach someone at all times is always a plus, and it's essential to be able to do so if your partner lives in another town or abroad...

Advances in phone calls, e-mail, text messaging, video conferencing and social media allow for a faster, more reliable way to communicate but personal interaction is now lacking. I believe societies ‘addiction’ to technology is a vast problem and it is hindering many aspects of our lives including Christian worldview. As technology continues to develop small business are growing, communication is instantaneous and medical advances have grown tremendously because of it. So how does technology relate to Christian worldview development? In every way! Families now sit at their dinner tables looking at electronic devices and individuals walk in the park looking at their phones hoping to avoid an intimate conversation. As people sit in public spaces text messaging, emailing, searching Facebook, technology is withdrawing understanding, closeness and consideration from those around them. Individuals with a Christian faith should be spreading the word of The Lord instead of conducting in these disengaging actions. According...

New Technology and How It Affects Young People’s Relationships with Friends and Family

...sticking their eyes at the phone screen. Modern technology is blooming in our world; however, this doesn’t come without cost and teenagers seem to be the ones who are most profoundly affected. The invention of Internet genuinely allows humans to connect with others instantly whenever we want, which is a good thing, or is it? A new addiction (to smart devices and social networks) has been formed during our time, yet the consequences have still been taken for granted. Internet has made people unload themselves much more easily. But not many adolescents are able to realize that this results in careless word choices. Instead of long, thoughtful lines, youngsters just type in whatever they’re thinking without considering the outcomes. And frequently enough this does ruin their relationships as the “readers” couldn’t handle the arrogant statements sent to them. According to recent surveys, smart devices and social networks are pulling people, especially young ones, out of the physical world. Internet-based relationship has its downsides. There is a reason why we call the net “virtual world”, which is basically because it’s not real. Some teenagers admit that being aware of the fact, at times they are still startled by the way others are transformed on the Internet. As a result, I suggest that you should spend time building your friendship face-to-face, not on Facebook or other tools. Not that I deny the huge benefits technology has brought to our lives in general and communication...

The Ability to Use Past Innovations to Chart Future Shifts in the Relationship Between Science, Technology and Culture.

...The ability to use past innovations to chart future shifts in the relationship between science, technology and culture. Abstract The study of history can easily have a somewhat anecdotal purpose behind examining it, but with the advent of Winston’s ‘Modeling for change’ we are able to discern a concentration of social forces working directly on the process of innovations rather than being a force on innovation. It is for this reason that we have the ability to chart future shifts in science, technology and culture through an evolutionary social based process that exist in a perpetual dialogue always tinkering, refining and suppressing devices throughout the ages. There has been a popular contention, a somewhat anecdotal purpose behind studying the past that has something to do with making sure that 'we learn from it' and are not destined to 'repeat it' as such. (Santayana 1906) But when it comes to new technologies it is easy 'at first glance, that there seems to be no patterns in the changes…In some cases the new technologies swept through quickly; in others the transition took decades. In some, the new technologies were complex and expensive to develop. In others… technologies were simple extensions of what the leading companies already did better than anyone else.' (Christensen 1997) What Winston has for the most part provided us, is a more 'crucial overview of how communication technologies develop' (Winston 1998 p11) within the social sphere, to that which 'Modeling...

...preface about our problem, the relationship between extent of computer technology usage and study habit of students from Rogationist College and the its background. Introduction Nowadays, technology became an inseparable part of our lives. It now rules the life of an average student and in the field of education in any corner of the world. It has taken over the field of education. Its influence has been taken across the world in every possible way. According to Charlie S. (2012) “Computer has been taking big parts of our lives, in different sectors such as medicine, architecture, communication, research, sports and education. But it greatly affects the sector of education, especially the students”. In this world of competition, the students should have to be educated. Everything is not taught by a teacher or in school. In facing big challenges in life, students take extra learning through technology/computers. These computers can be used for their personal or recreational activities such as listening to music, watching movies or videos, chatting, browsing, playing games and etc. We can also express our feelings through it, through social networking sites. Furthermore, the work of the students became easier in searching information they want to learn. Technology has been part of our lives like language, ritual values, arts and more. It also affects our ways of thinking that can contribute to a more progressive country. Computer technology provides an opportunity for students...

Fahrenheit 451 Research Paper

...interactions and relationships are now massively altered because of the dependency of technology in our lives. This idea is seen in literature through Ray Bradbury’s, Fahrenheit 451 and in today's society, through, “How Technology Affects Human Relationships” by Bryan Kramer. Fahrenheit 451 is based on a futuristic society where everyone is engulfed in their televisions and other technologies. That being so, the relationships people have with each other are just enough to say hi when they see each other in passing- if they notice the other person that is. Constantly being connected to an electronic is common in our society and the Fahrenheit 451 society; “And in her ears the little Seashells, the thimble radios tamped tight, and an electronic...

I also plan to interview friends and family members to obtain comparative information to be utilized in the results. My ultimate goal is to reduce the amount of time on my phone while in the presence of others and to increase the amount of undistracted quality time with them. References Bauerlein, M. (2008). How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future (Don't Trust Anyone Under 30). In The Dumbest Generation. New York, NY: P. Tarcher/Penguin. The focus of this is on the "dumbest" generation ever. The author blames the "dumbness" of the generation on all the technology that is available in society. Bauerlein (2008) does a good job of describing how technology has driven changes in the intelligence of different generations as well as looking at how technology has really affected the brain throughout the years. For example, modern technologies are very powerful. They rely on the most powerful genetic biases we have – the preference for visually presented information. The human brain has a tremendous bias for visually presented information. Television, movies, videos, and most computer programs are very visually oriented and therefore attract and maintain the attention...
