...Interactive Teller Machines CMB 636 May 4, 2015 A new innovation that has evolved from the Automatic Teller Machine, (ATM) first seen in the Unites States in 1969, is the Interactive Teller Machine (ITM). (Wikipedia 2015) An Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) looks like an ATM, the difference is that customers will have a real time, face-to-face conversation with a teller at the machine. Using video cameras, images are transmitted to the personal teller located at a centralized location. Cameras at centralized location transmit the personal teller’s image back to the customer. Sound is carried through built-in speakers and a handset is available when using the machine in the lobby. The personal teller can guide the customer through every step of their transaction and answer questions about accounts. (Visterra 2015) The ITM uses two-way video that will allow the customer to see the Teller while allowing the Teller to see the customer. The ITM has both speakers and a built-in microphone for traditional communication, or the customer may pick up a receiver to allow for a more private dialogue.(Visterra 2015) In the lobby, the customer and the personal teller can see and hear each other using a video camera and speaker. Their conversation is just as private as if they were talking to a teller in the branch, if the customer prefers greater privacy, there is handset. At the drive-up, the customer and the personal teller can see and hear other using a video camera with built...

...In what ways may a corporation's structure and culture be internal strengths or weaknesses? If a corporation's structure is compatible with present and potential strategies, it can be viewed as an internal corporate strength. If, however, the structure is not compatible with either present or potential strategies, it is a definite weakness and will act to constrain strategy formulation. For example, if a corporation is structured on the basis of function, this may be a weakness if the firm wishes to grow by acquiring other profitable corporations. In order to implement such a strategy, the strategy formulators may have to reorganize on a divisional basis. To the extent that top and middle managers have no experience with such a structure, a lot of unforeseen problems can emerge which may seriously affect the success of the strategy. Corporate culture, a collection of beliefs, expectations, and values shared by a corporation's members, acts to shape the behavior of people in a corporation. Since corporate culture has a powerful influence on the behavior of managers as well as other employees, it may strongly affect a corporation's ability to shift its strategic direction. Acting in a manner similar to structure, to the extent that a corporation's culture is compatible with present and potential strategies, it can be viewed as an internal corporate strength. To the extent that it is not compatible, it may spell disaster for a strategic change in the implementation stage...

...Mishra was a twenty-five year old fortuneteller. She is a teller for a living. I was going to get married by the end of the year. It was a little early but John, my fiancée helped me organize our wedding and we went to so many places. We looked for cakes, the venue and decorations. As we were driving, we saw Mishra alone; no one was going to her. A lot people have been saying that her telling’s are true; a lot of her costumers got scared. I didn’t believe what the others were saying. I believed in what I believed in. I went up to Mishra. I wanted to give it a try and I wanted Mishra to feel that she was still getting costumers. Mishra had a different way of telling people their future. She used cards, not by hand or any other things. She would pick ten cards out of twenty and I would pick five out of the ten. Those five cards I picked would be telling my future. She laid out the cards one by one as she was laying them one by one, the first card was an Ace with a gun, second card was a king which had a baby on it, third card was a queen which has bad guys killing a woman, the fourth one was a jack which had a broken heart and the last one was a ten which had death. I was really shocked with the result but then again I didn’t believe it. I was really skeptical about a lot of things. As I left, Mishra ran to me because I left my phone. While I was driving I couldn’t stop thinking what Mishra showed me. I was feeling very nervous and I didn’t feel good. As soon...

...It seemed as though a compromise might be reached. Americans were angered by articles from yellow press. Americans were demanding though and swift action. "Remember the Maine, to hell with Spain!" was the cry. President McKinley wanted the rest of the world to see that the US was interested in Cuban independence and, not so much on American colonization. On April 11, 1898, McKinley asked the Congress for permission to use force in Cuba. Congress passed the Teller Amendment, which promised that America would not annex the islands. After the Teller Amendment was passed, American leaders declared open war on the...

...Who was Proctor and what did he discover in Cuba? 3. Why were Cubans upset about the U.S. getting involved in Cuba? The Teller Amendment, was a promise from the United States to the Cuban people that it was not declaring war to annex Cuba, but to help it gain its independence from Spain. The Platt Amendment was a move by the United States' government to shape Cuban affairs without violating the Teller Amendment. The war with Spain lasted only 109 days. The peace treaty was signed on December 10, 1898 and ratified on February 6, 1899. While the Cubans were wary of the United States' intentions, the overwhelming support from the American public provided the Cubans with some peace of mind, because they believed that the United States was committed to helping them achieve their independence. However, with the imposition of the Platt Amendment of 1903 after the war, as well as economic and military manipulation on the part of the United States, Cuban sentiment towards the United States became polarized...

...The Contradiction of Business Background Information First State Financial Services was the third largest banking institution in the state. It maintained an extensive branch and ATM network to service its diverse retail customer base. Even with First State’s size, though, the business success of the bank was extremely dependent upon the trends in the local economy. Two years of recession meant two years of poor loans, and First State fell into deep trouble. To limit and reduce overhead expenses, there were some extensive layoffs. A new executive management expected rapid, better results with fewer resources. Everyone at First State feared being fired even though the bank was inching back to improved profitability. There was still the pressure to “perform—or else.” Lucy Winters managed the six-person Spring Hill Branch for First State. Spring Hill, fully equipped with an ATM and a freshly redesigned lobby, stood in the parking lot of a new suburban mall. The mall, anchored by a store from the largest grocery chain in the area, included about 20 different small retail stores. In addition, a major hospital was located just down the street, and a large manufacturing plant (with about 3,000 employees) was situated in a convenient, nearby industrial park. Many of the branch’s customers worked at those locations. Lucy was promoted to her current job about 18 months ago. She had been serving as an Assistant Manager at another branch in the region until that time. During...

...Business Leadership TV Show Assignment The television show that I have chosen to illustrate the concepts learnt in class is Sons of Anarchy. Sons of Anarchy is my favourite show because of all the thrill and excitement. It’s based around an outlaw motorcycle club that is left in the hands of Jax Teller after the loss of his father, John Teller and step-father, Clay Morrow who were both former presidents of the club. The club, SAMCRO which stands for Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Cub, Redwood Originals originated in 1967 by John Teller in the fictional town of Charming, California, who didn’t live to see the ups and downs of the club. The club was then handed to Clay Morrow, Jax’s step dad who was also killed. Other significant characters in the show include Gemma Morrow Jax’s mom, Tara Knowles Jax’s wife, Opie Winston Jax’s Bestfriend, Tig Trager, Bobby Munson, Chibs Telford (Vice President of Club) and Wayne Unser. The club runs its business through close community relationships, bribery and violent intimidation and they are big on keeping drugs and drug dealers out of Charming. The show is driven by Jax’s mission to seek revenge for the murder of his wife Tara. Jax learns how to manage responsibilities of the club as well as being a devoted and loving father and husband. Jax killing his step father Clay and becoming the president of the club are traits of a good leader. Jax knew exactly what was right for the club and what he had to do in order for the club to stay on top...

...clearing the building I interviewed the branch manager David Towe. Mr. Towe stated that he was in his office when the suspects entered, Mr. Towe heard a commotion out in the lobby and stepped out to see what the problem was and then immediately ordered to the ground at gunpoint. Mr. Towe remembered that the gun was a chrome revolver and that the suspect was a W/M approx. 5’7. That was all Mr. Towe could recall at that time. I then interviewed Sue Smith, the bank teller. Mrs. Smith remembered the 2 suspects coming in and one immediately approached the counter where Mrs. Smith was and the other ordered bank employees and one customer to the ground. The suspect who Mrs. Smith described as a tall slender B/M wearing panty hose on his head, appeared to be bald, wearing a red hoodie, and white shorts, demanded Mrs. Smith at gunpoint, describing the gun as a black pistol, to give the Suspect all the money. Mrs. Smith then emptied the drawer into a bag with an ink bomb in it and handed it to the suspect; the suspect then went to the teller next to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Smith then hit the silent alarm and got under the desk. Detective Mallack interviewed Steve Brown, the customer inside the bank at the time of the crime, at the hospital, where Mr. Brown was being treated for abrasions to the head. There was one bag recovered at the scene containing $1,215.00. It was determined that the total amount of money taken...

...CASE The Overpaid Bank Tellers State Bank is located in a southwestern town of about 50,000 people. It is one of four banks in the area and has the reputation of being the most progressive. Russell Duncan has been the president of the bank for 15 years. Before coming to State Bank, Duncan worked for a large Detroit bank for 10 years. Duncan has implemented a number of changes that have earned him a great deal of respect and admiration from both bank employees and townspeople alike. For example, in response to a growing number of Spanish-speaking people in the area, he hired Latinos and placed them in critical bank positions. He organized and staffed the city's only agricultural loan center to meet the needs of the area's farmers. In addition, he established the state's first "uniline" system for handling customers waiting in line for a teller. Perhaps more than anything else, Duncan is known for establishing progressive human resource practices. He strongly believes that the bank's employees are its most important asset and continually searches for ways to increase both employee satisfaction and productivity. He feels that all employees should strive to continually improve their skills and abilities and, hence, he cross-trains employees and sends many of them to courses and conferences sponsored by banking groups such as the American Institute of Banking. With regard to employee compensation, Duncan firmly believes that employees should be paid according to...

...As we introduce are new product into the market are goal target market is ATM user and anyone from the ages of 18 to 40 years old. We have chosen this age group because we feel that the younger customers will find it more appealing than the older. This is because many of the older customers find it easier to have face-to-face interaction than having a machine help then. On the hand younger customers are more excited about new technology, and being able to save the time and hassle. One of the major factors that distinguishes ATMs from bank tellers is the level of convenience each provides. To perform a transaction with a bank teller, a customer must go to one of that bank's branches and wait in line for an available teller. ATMs, on the other hand, are spread out over a much wider geographic area. In addition to locations in bank lobbies, many banks offer ATMs on sidewalks, in stores and at drive-through banking windows to speed up the process of complicated transactions. Many users value will value this new product more because of the variety of features and tasks it can do. As other ATMs only provide one function this will help the customer fulfill all there needs. The market size is considered large with the comparison to regular ATMs that are only capable of dispensing in increments of twenties. With customers seeking to receive different change this will target customers from other ATMs that are not capable. This will save customers the time and convenience when in...

...ase CIS210: Systems Analysis & Design Week 6/Assignment 2: ATM Use Case November 15, 2015 The use case in this narrative describes the process and flow of data when a bank customer uses their debit or credit card when withdrawing funds from their account. The use case actors in this scenario are the bank itself and the customer. As a pre-verified condition, the following has already been introduced or pre-existing already within the bank location: a network connection within the bank and to the ATM, an ATM on-site and cash available for withdrawals from the ATM. * In this use case, the ATM withdrawal is consistent with that of data flow and customer selected options, similar to the process of a flow chart. This particular use case scenario, the following events are completed to withdraw funds from an ATM account: (Step 1) The use case begins when a customer inserts their debit/credit card into the ATM. (Step 2) After use case is initialized, the ATM network must validate the customer by requesting for card PIN. (Step 3) Various options are presented for the customer including balance, transfer, withdrawal, fast cash, etc. As part of this use case scenario, the customer wants a withdrawal transaction from the ATM. (Step 4) Customer selects “Withdrawal” from the available accounts shown on ATM display. (Step 7) ATM displays the amount a customer may withdraw with pre-determined amounts ($10, $20, $30, etc.) or “Other” option for customer to request a specific amount...

...The Overpaid Bank Teller Human Resource Management 1. If you were on the bank’s HR Committee, what would you do regarding raises for the tellers? I think first of all the State Bank should not base their wages off of a wage survey conducted by a competitor. Utilizing a third party to conduct a wage survey before making such a decision would be a much better option. I also think that lowering the raises that the teller will receive, as they have not been told how much their raises would be. Therefore reducing raises does not seem like it would have an impact on the employee satisfaction or their productivity. 2. How much faith should the HR Committee place in the accuracy of the wage survey? “Obtaining a wage or salary survey requires a small or large business to hire an outside company to compile the data or collect the information using individual employees and businesses from across the particular industry. This data is necessary for a business to create competitive salary packages and to comply with state and federal regulations regarding prevailing wages”. Lister., J There are some things that I think should be considered in regards to a wage survey. What other information is missing? Do the other banks have Spanish speaking individuals? Are the tellers the only ones that speak Spanish or are the loan officers also bilingual? People that are bilingual are often paid more than their counter parts that only speak one language. It is also lacking...
