...It was a warm day on March 28, 1862 in Glorieta Pass when my brother came running through the door. "The Unions are coming! And the Confederates!" I looked at him with a blank stare. They were supposed to be at Pigeon's Ranch, which, guaranteed, wasn't too far away but still. I had heard about the war between the Confederates and the Union, the Civil War, but why would they be coming here? To our part of the town? Just then, I heard gunshots coming from outside. I looked out our window and saw men in dark blue uniforms , and on the other side, there were some people in gray uniforms and some people with regular farming clothes on. On the side with the dark blue uniforms, I recognized two of the men- Colonel John R. Slough and Major John Chivington....

...of many experiences. Every day we got new kinds of experiences. It was 14 September 2010. I with some of my friends and senior brothers arranged a journey to cox’sbazar from Pabna. 14 September at 8.00 pm we started our journey from pabna. I was excited. Because I never went cox’sbazar and didn’t see the longest beach of the world. So all of us make a great fun on the bus. Suddenly one of our buses wheel is blasted. Driver somehow controls the bus and save us. Then driver and helper changed the wheel and we started our journey again. After that three times our bus’s wheel blasted in different location. But none of us was injured for those accidents. All of us were so much afraid because of those incidents .We had passed the whole day on the way. We also got some new experiences and make a great fun on that time. Then we started our journey again to cox’sbazar. When we cross Chittagong town, we met with rain. I enjoyed those lovely moments. At the night about 1.00 A.M when some of us was sleeping, suddenly our bus clashed with another truck near about cox’sbazar. Everything was happened in darkness. Two of friends were seriously injured for this accident. After a long journey of 31 hours we reached cox’sbazar and hospitalized those friends who were injured. Then we take rest in the hotel room. ...I woke up, July 11 1863, sunny day, smooth breeze, but the day won't be that perfect because today is the day of the attack on Fort Wagner. As I put my uniform on I think to myself if I get captured in the midst of battle I shall be enslaved or set to death. After my last breakfast, my brothers in arms and I load our muskets and begin our march towards the fort. As we marched I prayed for me and my brothers to not fall or get injured in battle. Also prayed for victory and to go home to our families. We are very close until approaching towards the fort. We see enemies ahead from a distance. My brothers and I started singing a song named “Charging Fort Wagner”, and started charging up towards the enemies. The smell of bullets whizzed past my ears! Cannons roared!...

...Unexpected Towards the end of my junior year in high school an unexpected event occurred that changed my life. During my P.E. class I was participating in a basketball related activity that led to me getting injured. When I first realized that I was injured my first reaction was to fall to the ground and hold on to the part of my body that was hurting. After doing so, I tried to stand up and walk but I couldn’t because I began to feel excruciating pains in my left ankle. When my friends and teacher saw me struggling to walk, they all came to help me and my teacher gave me a chair to sit in. When I sat down in the chair, my teacher began to examine my ankle. He told me to turn my ankle from left to right while asking me if doing any of these motions was painful. When he finished examining my ankle he went over to the main office to tell one of the secretaries to call my father. Finally my father arrived at my school and instead of taking me straight to the hospital he began to ask me multiple questions about how I got injured which made me really angry. Eventually, he realized I was upset me so he took me to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital the woman at the front desk checked me in, gave me a wheelchair, and then told us that we had to sit in the waiting room until it was time for the doctor to examine me. When the doctor was ready to see me, my father pushed me into the examination room and the doctor began to ask me questions about my ankle. After talking to the...

...Today was the worst day so far in this horrible war that I personally did not want to even fight in. This whole war is stupid, this draft is stupid, everything is stupid. I don't want to even be in this crappy place anymore. Today was the last straw, yes, I said in the past letters that the last few months have been interesting and I met Patrick here. Patrick was who I was closest with even through all this. Me and him were born in the same town and knew some of the same people, it was me and him who were gonna survive through this. He even had a wife and a child on the way. He had something to look forward to when returning home. I wish it was me instead of him today. The Sergeant sent Patrick, John, Matthew, me, and a whole bunch of other...

...ACCIDENT ESSAYS It was a very cold morning as it had been raining very heavily the previous night. As my mother was feeling a little under the weather, my sister volunteered to drive me to school. I had overslept and as a result, was running a bit late for school. We got into the car hurriedly. The road was already congested with traffic. It appeared that everyone was late as well. My sister was a careful driver and despite the fact I was already late, she refused to drive fast on the slippery road. I was lucky she was such a resolute and careful person because a few hundred meters away from the school, we witnessed a tragic accident. it all happened very quickly, as most accidents do. A car full of school children had made a left turning without signaling and as a result a school bus crashed into it. A few cars behind the school bus rammed into the bus as they could not brake in time and soon it became a pile up. The already congested road became jammed with vehicles that came to a crawl. I told my sister that I wanted to help the victims and she nodded silently. She brought the car to a halt not too far from the accident spot. The scene that greeted us was something I would never forget. It left an indelible imprint in my mind to date. The impact of the accident had plunged three school children out of the car. The driver, a lady, lay lifeless on the steering wheel. I rushed to the children who were preschoolers. Two of them were seriously hurt and bleeding profusely from...

...Dear Mum. The past few days have been horrendous, we had been fighting non-stop for 3 and a half days. Your will be happy to know that I am safe and not injured; although I wish I could say the same for many of the soldiers that I fought with. Throughout the past few days I had seen many terrifying things that would completely change your idea about the war. You know how people say that Soldiers are meant to be strong, brave and fierce? Well this is not the case. They look like beggars that we would see on the side of the street as we were walking to the shop. As we were fighting everyone got more and more tired with each attack. They all looked as though they were sleepwalking. Not having a clue what they were doing. I feel as though the war as been presented in a completely contrasted way to what the government had said as I was joining for the war. When I signed up for it, they made it seem as though I was doing a great thing for my country and that we would go to Germany, fight out fight, then return home brave and victorious. However they did not say anything about the hardships that us soldiers would face on this unwanted journey. Innocent people such-as myself are dying left right and center, that all came to the war thinking the same as me. That It was an honor. The living conditions here are non-existent in normal human civilization. We sleep for nights in a row in trenches filled with mud and water. With out clothes soaked through to our skin. The smell is hideous...

...Civil Rights Diary - Watts Riots Brad Ellis HIS145 July 31, 2013 Alice Jones Civil Rights Diary - Watts Riots Sunday August 15, 1965: It has been a few days since I last wrote in my diary. It has been very busy around the entire city of Las Angeles. It started on Wednesday August 11th. I had just got home from working at the Douglas Outlet Co. and was looking forward to writing in my diary about the raise I got from my boss. Then I heard my neighbor Ronald yelling for his mom. He was yelling, “Mom they are going to take the car and Marquette.” I went outside and saw a large amount of people, more than I could count, running down the street toward Avalon Blvd. When I got to the corner of 116th street and Avalon Blvd, I saw Marquette, Ronald’s brother getting a yelling at from his mother Rena Price. Then it started to get wild! Somehow Rena got pushed and Marquette got hit by someone. The policemen started to fight with Marquette and Ronald and their mother Rena jumped on the backs of the policemen. By this time, the crowd had doubled or tripled in size. The crowd was not happy about the situation. It took about five minutes for the police to put all three of my neighbors under arrest. Once they had them in the back of the police car, they left as fast as they could. There were still a couple of policemen there, and they went to leave but the crowd started to hurl rocks and bricks at their car as they left. The policemen stopped the car and went to arrest another women...

...career with Special Forces, I researched where to begin using the internet. I found an overwhelming amount of information and many different approaches to getting started. I chose to follow a fitness plan that I found on the Special Forces Recruiting page. At first glance, my new fitness plan was time consuming and involved not only daily workouts but included lengthy instructions on preparing for a program of this nature. Preparations for this program started with taking a long hard look at my feet. I learned how to properly cut my toe nails, maintain a smooth heel and correctly fit and choose a pair of boots. Having the right pair of boots for each situation I would find myself, during training and in selection, would...

...My topic for my senior project is Veterinary medicine. More specifically the behind the scenes of how they help animals. Like surgery, euthanasia, and spays and neuters. And just their day to day is like. My mom worked in the medical field and i've always wanted to do something along those lines, but I didn't want to work with people. And because I love animals it would make me really happy to help them when they need it on an everyday basis. So that's why I decided to turn my focus to this. I chose the animal hospital by my house. It's an emergency and walk-in based. So they see a range of things. As you walk into the place you see the front desk, and next to that is the pharmacy and the waiting room. As you walk down the hall there are the...

...TX Date of Loss: January 13, 20xx Dear Mr. Salinas: As you are aware, I was injured in an automobile accident with your insured Anthony Stacatto on January 13, 20xx at the intersection of 12th Street and Loop Lane, Chicago. I was traveling east on Loop Lane, and as I entered the intersection with 12th Street, your insured came through a stop sign on 12th Street and smashed into my car just behind the driver’s seat, barely missing a direct hit on me. [NOTE: Even though a direct hit on Mary did not occur, the near miss increases the sense of emotional trauma Mary suffered.] The power of the collision spun my car all the way around and left it facing west almost all the way to the curb. [NOTE: The power of the impact shows how fast the other driver was going, which supports both how negligent he was and how seriously Mary is injured.] I have enclosed the police report, which states that I had the right of way, and a diagram that shows where your insured struck my car and the final resting place of the car. The enclosed photograph showing the severe damage to my car indicates how strong the collision was. In addition to failing to yield the right of way, your insured did not even slow down, let alone stop, at the stop sign. This was apparently due to the fact that your insured was talking on a cell phone. A witness to the accident reported this fact. As you know, if this matter ultimately becomes a lawsuit, I will have access to your insured’s cell phone records. As you may be aware...

...when they was younger. Every field of study has their own personal philosophy. The one I would like to live by and use to help me get through my career successfully, is the Athletic Trainer philosophy. According to nata.org, “Athletic trainers (ATs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.” An athletic trainer is mainly working around the sports scene, but there are some who also work with the military branches, government service, industrial setting, and a couple of TV shows like the biggest loser and wrestling. In my opinion the two significant questions a person should ask themselves about a particular career are why you want to be what you want to be and what excites me about that career. Coming into college I was a big sports type of guy. I played multiple sports in high school and enjoyed being around it. Also, I am a caring person so helping others is a big deal in my life and how I grew up. I was taught to always help others if you are capable of doing so. Being able to help someone and at the same time being around something I really love, sports, made me chose to be an athletic trainer. To me the most exciting part about being an athletic trainer is helping a person overcome an injury to get back to...

...doesn't know it's walking to it's death, the worker knows they could be fatally injured and yet they come to work everyday. The workers of the slaughter house has no choice. Even though most are immigrants, they still need money to feed their families and to send money back home. What is the difference you ask? Well the only difference I can see is at the end of the day the animals can't feel anything and wind up as a purpose on our plate. The workers in the slaughterhouses, if they aren't hurt on the job. They go off shift tired, sore, made little money in the shift they just worked to a bed waiting for them. Fall asleep to get up just to do it all over again the next day. The ones who are injured, not only lost a job, but a limb, and maybe their life. The employees who lose a limb get very little money to help them for the loss. "OSHA's voluntary compliance policy did indeed reduce the number of recorded injuries in meatpacking plants. It did not however, reduce the number of people getting hurt" (663). The amount of employees in the slaughterhouses that are injured and sick from the jobs they do, is huge. It is hard to believe that the government puts a price on how much your body parts are worth. $35,000 dollars is what you get when you lose an arm. That wouldn't be enough to help my family survive for a year. The government should relook at the price of how much money should be paid to injured workers. In Eric Schlosser's "The Most Dangerous Job" Is about the working...

...are strong, we are a family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten ” I still remember these words with all the “are” in all cap painted in blue on the entrance wall of the gym or even better in the coaches offices with a big picture of the team using the goals as a background. Back in the day when I was 14 years old I went to a soccer academy for the summer and I have to say that it was one of the most beautiful, memorable, marvelous experience of my life. Most people that knew me were only bringing me down, including my mother. I never really paid attention to what people had to say because all I ever wanted to do and still do is to be able to play. Only two persons believed in me and to me, that was enough. My dad and my coach were the only ones who were there pushing me to my best both mentally and physically. Although, it took me a bunch of hard work, patience, effort, perseverance and believing in myself once I was in the academy everything fell like heaven to me. Everything started in France that’s where I first started playing. One day I was playing in a tournament a semi final game, while playing against a hard team I went for the ball and I happen to get tackled and injured real badly. My mom who was watching the game was frightened of course thinking the worst that my leg was probably broken because of the swelling. The morning after, I had an appointment with the doctor and I remember him saying, “ no more soccer for the next 3 months you have a second degree...

...On March 5, 1770, during the day colonists came and were armed with weapons who used them on the soldiers and were injuring them and killing some. I think the British Soldiers in the Boston Massacre are not guilty!!!!! I think this because there is much evidence to support my opinion, the soldiers were acting in self-defense. The first reason is a personal testimony it stated some things that were making it seem the soldiers were not guilty. The second reason is that in a drawing there were some soldiers and colonists on the floor which shows that the colonists and soldiers were fighting back. The first reason is that in personal testimony A it states things that say the soldiers were acting in self-defense. I think this because in the...
