To start with a definition of the evil eye, it is important to understand that there are various perspectives people have regarding this idea and that it is imperative to recognize and respect the variety of viewpoints. The evil eye is most commonly associated with the emotion of envy, and how this emotion pertains to social class and social prestige.
The nature of my fieldwork was to watch or read the informant pieces available, and then picking the two informants that stood out to me the most. I chose to use two YouTube videos, one of which was from the Vedic astrological perspective, and the other was from a Jewish perspective. With the other two informants sources just being a person speaking and a written piece, I chose these two informant …show more content…
The first way the negative effects of the evil eye can be prevented is by acknowledging the variety of perspectives or points of view associated with the evil eye. Now it is essential to note that I used the word, “acknowledge”, not the word, “understand” as it is not necessarily reasonable to ask someone to completely understand a perspective they are not familiar with, but it is simply an act of respect to acknowledge their perspective. A significant point to support this is to note that even within specific religions, there are a plethora of perspectives. There are numerous examples to support this. For example take the ISIS situation, the people associated with ISIS are associated with Islam, however their point of view and morals are very different than the majority of Islamic people around the world. Similar to a non-religious context, for example the KKK has very different views than the majority of white people. So in order for us to prevent negative effects of the evil eye, it is imperative to not “blanket” something as significant as religion and the evil eye under terms within one …show more content…
This is not intended as “preaching” to the reader. It is simple, yet eye-opening to support this idea, as in all religions there is some form of the golden rule, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” As the Jewish Rabbi said in his video, “Generally speaking, a person can protect themselves from the evil eye very easily,” he goes on to say, “to protect one’s self is to walk around yourself, and be a person always being happy for everyone else’s success.” Hinduism also preaches the golden rule idea for example Mahabharata 5:1517, “This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you.” In the video of the Jewish Rabbi, he also provides a vivid example by saying, “When you go around and you see another person being successful, you say ‘good for them, I’m so happy,’” he wisely goes on and to support my thesis says, “When you have that attitude then God says, ‘I’m happy for you too, not matter what you have, if you deserve it, if you don’t necessarily deserve it, because that’s the way you treat other people I want to treat you the same

All objects in nature are produced in Time, developed in Time and destroyed in Time. The truth of these statements requires no further proof. It stands unchallenged. Here we have a grand problem for solution. If the creative, protective and destructive forces are embedded in the all-Powerful Time recognised as the great KALAPURUSHA in the astrological literature, then will it not be reasonable to study the influences of the various energies issued from the solar globe and from the other globes dependent upon the Sun for their supply of all vital energies and reflected by them under various modifications? Astrology is a science which deals with Time proceeding from the Sun and all the wonderful phenomena which are embodied in that mysterious agency. Scientific investigations have now led to the conclusion that "we are faced with a cosmic determinism". Astrology "is a complete system of philosophy that requires the assistance of neither metaphysics nor physics....

According to ancient Vedic texts (and later through Tantric and Taoist traditions), the energetic, or subtle, body is the foundation of the food, or coarse body, and the bridge between the physical and causal realms. Therefore, the structure of the subtle energetic body provides an intended means for human spiritual development, or evolution (which enables humanity to fulfill its purpose as a conduit between heaven and earth, hence transforming into an entity more subtle, and original). The text’s primary purpose is to present oriental bio-energetic theory, and second, to bridge theoretical gaps between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic Medicine, through the comparisons of their energetic structures, which are fundamental to the esoteric alchemical systems...
