This research was planned to study the causes of generation gap as well as the responsibility of the parents and the children to reduce this gap. A sample of 60 families comprising of 120 parents and 245 children was taken from 2 towns out of six towns of Multan city Pakistan using multistage sampling. Interview schedule was used as a tool for data collection. From the analysis of the data it was found that the major causes of the generation gap among the parents and the children were conservative thinking, traditional value system, media and computer, attitude, separation, divorce, remarriage and socialization. Changing the economic status was also significant factor responsible for widening this gap.
