1. During my time as an ice addict, everyday during that week was full of chaos, confusion, and denial. I had to eat ice at least 3 times daily. I had to wake up early in the morning to get the ice I need for the day without anybody in my family seeing me. The first thing on my mind every day was when I will get some ice again if I run out of the one I have. A lot of people were asking questions about my poster and some of them thought I was really an addict. Some people even offered to be my dealer of I can pay them a dollar for every time they got me ice. If only you could go a day or even a few hours without having some ice. I got used to the fuzzy feeling in my brain, the delusions, and the shakiness of using the ice after the 3rd day as an addict. Sober thoughts were quickly diminished when you get your hands on your supply of ice for the day. It didn’t matter how you got them – stealing, lying or begging. Deep down inside me, I was hoping that someone still really cares, and they will help me find a way to get out of this addiction.

2. Addiction is an opportunity destroyer. It has no respect for anyone and doesn’t discriminate. No one is immune to addiction. It goes beyond the affected person use of drugs. The stigma of addiction holds one back from getting the help they need, and it disconnects them from their selves, friends, spirituality and life.

3. After completing the assignment, I became more sympathetic towards drug addicts because a lot of them go through a lot .They go through depression and mood swings. They start having problems with their lives and lose interest in activities that used to be important to them. They also slowly start withdrawing from their friends and family and some of them get put out by their family because of their drug addiction.

4. A psychological counseling will be recommended. Counselors, who are experienced in rehabilitation and have seen the success others have achieved in the programs, will be there to guide these addicts through. Education in new coping skills will be taught, giving new strength for resisting the compulsion to use again. Knowledge in the dangerous side effects and the damaging problems physical addiction and dependency cause will be taught in group or personal sessions. This gives the addict insight on what is really happening inside their brain and body when drugs are abused and how serious it can be.

History of Ice creams Ice cream's origins are known to reach back as far as the second century B.C., although no specific date of origin or inventor has been undisputedly credited with its discovery. We know that Alexander the Great enjoyed snow and ice flavoured with honey and nectar. Biblical references also show that King Solomon was fond of iced drinks during harvesting. During the Roman Empire, Nero Claudius Caesar (A.D. 54-86) frequently sent runners into the mountains for snow, which was then flavoured with fruits and juices. Over a thousand years later, Marco Polo returned to Italy from the Far East with a recipe that closely resembled what is now called sherbet. Historians estimate that this recipe evolved into ice cream sometime in the 16th century. England seems to have discovered ice cream at the same time, or perhaps even earlier than the Italians. "Cream Ice," as it was called, appeared regularly at the table of...

I Hate You

... For my science project , I am going to try to cool down a soda can starting at room temperature. The method of my project is filling up a bowl with water, amount of water depends on how many soda cans you use. You can cool down as many sodas as you would like to. So in this case I will be using 32 ounces to fill my bowl because I will be testing this three times. Then when you finish poring the water into your bowl, you will be adding five ice cubes and 5 teaspoons of salt. Why am I adding salt and ice you might ask? The water is at room temperature. The ice cubes are at a much lesser temperature - ice is formed at 4 degrees Centigrade and the ice cubes are colder. When your drop the ice cubes in the water, heat exchange takes place and the heat of the water starts to melt ice cubes. The temperature of ice is very low. When it comes into contact with your drink, the ice absorbs heat from the drink and conversely, the drink loses heat to to the ice. Hence, by losing heat, the drink gets cooler. Salt lowers the freezing point of water. Normally water freezes at 32 degrees Farenheit/0 Celsius. The addition of salt will lower the temperature at which water freezes so that the salt water solution is still a liquid below 32 degrees Farenheit/0 celscius. This effect will work for several degrees below the normal freezing point of water. Salt makes ice colder by upsetting the...

...ail_of_past_climate.html Summary: Retrieved from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS), the ice containing the record is known as the WAIS Divide ice core. The cylinders of ice that make up the core contain uniquely detailed information on past environmental conditions such as the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases, surface air temperature, wind patterns, the extent of sea ice around Antarctica, and the average temperature of the ocean. Successfully retrieving the core is the culmination of an eight-year project to obtain a paleoclimate record from one of the remotest parts of the continent. The WAIS Divide research project has taken eight field seasons to prepare the remote field camp and collect the core. The weather and the remoteness of the field site limit field operations to 60 days a year. The unique ice-coring drill was designed and operated by the Ice Drilling Design and Operations group at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, through a collaborative arrangement with the Ice Drilling Program Office. Other ice-coring projects have produced cores of lower temporal resolution, showing that the current level of atmospheric greenhouse gases, which is due to the burning of fossil fuels, is the highest in at least 800,000 years. The ice that is between 30,000 and 68,000 years old--while not containing records with annual resolution--contains a higher time resolution record than previous projects Reflection: I think this was a very interesting subject. Baking Soda Exothermic Reaction Lab Report

...My science fair project is based on a chemical reaction taking place to turn a hot substance into ice. A chemical reaction is a reaction that changes the substances original identity to a different chemical identity. There are many different types chemical reactions in chemistry, but the one we are going to be focusing on are exothermic reactions. Exothermic reactions are reactions that transfer energy to the surroundings. The exothermic reaction is a reaction that gives off more energy than it needs to in order to complete its reaction. The exothermic reaction in this project is between baking soda and vinegar. Baking soda is a bicarbonate and vinegar is a acetic acid. Baking soda is made up of 1 sodium, 1 hydrogen, 1carbon, and 3 oxygen atoms. Vinegar is composed of 2 carbon, 4 hydrogen, and 2 oxygen atoms. Baking soda is an alkaline object that is alike to some salt and it reacts to acidic substances. When baking soda reacts it gives off some type of gas, carbon dioxide. Baking soda is usually seen in cooking, cleaning substances around the house, and in may science projects due to its ability to react with acids. Baking soda is usually used to...

Background Research: Ice is frozen water. The state of matter ice is at in room temperature is liquid. When the temperature of water comes below a certain point, called the freezing point, it starts to solidify. The freezing point of pure water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but when water comes into contact with different substances the freezing point can sometimes move up or down. Salt is a white crystalline substance that gives seawater its characteristic taste. The chemical formula for table salt is sodium chloride. Salt has many uses in day to day life, and is used as a preservative, seasoning, and as a preventative measure for icing over on bridges. The reason for it being used to prevent ice forming on bridges is that it lowers the freezing point of water to slightly below 0 degrees. What is supposed to happen in this experiment is that the salt, thrown in a thin layer on top of the ice cube, should lower the melting point of the ice and melt a thin layer. The water should then cool down a bit further...
