The Ihole.
The Ihole has taken over the world. There is no way back because Thierry invented something beautiful, meaningless and he does not even like the money. The writer uses farce to get the reader to understand the situation, like the old saying: Exaggeration promotes understanding.
Though the story is not realistic, it is very useful to see what our world has become. Many of us don’t really look at other things than our phones, televisions or computers. With all the sarcasm and hidden metaphors, the story has a deeper meaning than just an Ihole. This is more of an allegory of the apple product, than it is a science fiction. Even though it isn’t science fiction, there are many elements of it. An example is the ‘Ihole’ swallowing everything it can get. The writer writes the story in a comically and sarcastic manner with a pretty serious subject. A mixture of reality and fiction, like the capitalistic mindset and the Ihole are some examples.
The story is about Thierry. Thierry is a lonely and miserable man who works for an electronic company and lives with his sick mother. He invented the Ihole and made millions of dollars. And yet Thierry didn’t find it much pleasing being a millionaire without friends or healthy family. Before he invented the Ihole he had no enemies, no friends and not a life anyone knew of. After the Ihole, people either loved or hated Thierry for the invention he had made. Tough it was a beautiful design it was not very useful. The Ihole basically swallowed everything you dropped in there. It was an innocent invention in the beginning but when the new version came and people started to experiment and abuse it. The theme in the story is about how money isn’t helping on happiness and how a project can go wrong and change the world into something bad. Just like Jessie-J sings in her song price tag: Money can’t buy you happiness.
