What kind of a boss you should be

Understanding what it takes to be a good leader can never be an easy task, but with the following traits, you should be able to win the respect and admiration of your subordinates and peers

Being the senior most person in your organization or having the best technical, communication or people skills does not necessarily make you a good boss. What kind of a boss should you be then? How do you integrate all the important qualities in yourself to endear yourself to your employees, yet be an efficient administrator at the same time?

Leadership. This is the foremost skill that you will need in your arsenal. Leading by example has been the tried and tested formula for success at the helm since time immemorial. You want to be the boss that sets an example for the people working under you. They should be inspired by your actions. In this manner, you will also be able to ensure the growth of your employees on a professional front.

Team development. Another closely related factor is that of team development. Irrespective of whether it is a small firm or a large organization, team work always holds the key to success. As a boss, it is in your hands to develop your employees’ team skills. It is also not an easy task to select the right members for a team, so that each one complements the others with their skills.

Problem solver. Being the boss, you are the person your employees will look up to in case of a dilemma. Be it professional or personal, you should possess the ability to solve problems. However, this is not to say that you should only spend your time solving others’ and the company’s problems. A good boss also inculcates problem solving skills in his employees and encourages them to have a result-oriented outlook to work.

Communication. Good communication skills are not limited to being able to speak in a fluid manner
