The Kinder transport, also known as the Refugee Children Movement, or the RCM, is a rescue mission that took place during the second world war. The United Kingdom took about 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland and the Free City of Danzig. The children were placed in British foster homes, hostels and farms. Most of the rescued children survived the war. A few of the children were reunited with parents who had either spent the war in hiding or survived the Nazi camps, but the majority, after the war, found their parents had been killed.
The Kinder Transport Story shows aspects of conscience, as the British people saved the Jewish children from mistreatment and probably death. Most of the Jewish children were treated fairly; however there were some cases in some homes where some of the children had been abused and treated with no respect. The British people felt concerned for the Jewish children, and they understood the Anti-Semitism going on during the war. World War 2 was hard for the British people as well, the British people in the Refugee Children Movement could have been prosecuted if the Nazi’s found out they were helping the Jews, and the British people knew that. However, they continued to save the Jewish children, because they had a conscience and their conscience told them that it was the right thing to do. They didn’t have to help the Jews, they could have just helped their own country and religions, they had free will, but they chose to do it, they could have stopped at any time but the British people continued to rescue to Jewish children from the concentration camps and the Anti-Semitism that awaited them if they stayed where they were.
Even though the Jewish children were rescued from their own fate, it is questionable that they were not happy with being taken away, even though it was for their own good, they were
