...Hopkins’s poem focuses on the beauty of the spring season, using examples of how life blossoms during the spring. Everything comes to life, the new array of colors paint a colorful world. All of God’s little creatures come to life. Birds fill the air soaring through the bluest sky, they build nest for little newcomers. The spring showers clean the air and everything smells clean and fresh to the poet. This world emerged from a dreary place called winter. Hopkins expresses how spring brings God’s paradise alive once again; and he is elated. Hopkins shows God his appreciation through his expression of how the spring must be similar, to the Garden of Eden. The world feels clean and bright to the Hopkins. Almost seems like a prayer request asking God to make it last forever, unlike the Garden of Eden which brought sorrow and despair. Analysis: Hopkins focuses on bright colors, like the "descending blue, that blue is all in a rush" and also uses similar "like lightning" to reinforce the power of spring. The image he gives the reader catches the reader off guard, a small distraction small distraction. Hopkins states “weeds and wheels” and “long lovely and lush,” this little distraction changes the readers’ visual. However, almost immediately he regains the reader’s attention. With his illustration it only gives the reader the meaning as his imaginary wheel makes you focus on his expression of the spring season here, Hopkins hits a note, he questions nature “”all this...

...of our minds, we all are hoping for a mild winter and quick green-up in the spring. As Dave Minner once said, “If you are darn glad the fall season is over and you don’t want to see that field until next year, then expect it to look like a pasture because you are treating it like one.” For spring sports, especially soccer and baseball this would be an enormous mistake. How the fields are left going into winter is the best-case scenario, come March. The field does not simply improve over winter; it only has the potential for further deterioration. Spring conditions can often be too wet to core, seed, or topdress before the spring playing season begins. Putting your field to bed in the fall will help it wake up ready to go in the spring. Football Overseeding your field throughout and after the season will increase your stand going into the next season. Adding Kentucky bluegrass and/or perennial ryegrass even as late as mid-November can go a long way to improving a damaged field. Spread seed over the high traffic areas and allow players to cleat...

Spring has been where I have met some of my best friends and made my most cherished memories at various Spring Conventions. For Almost everyone in USY, USYer looks forward to attending Spring Convention is a highlight of the yearevery year. For many, it is the last time they will see their friends until after the summer. I want to be a convention chairman so that I can personally ensure that the 2012 NERUSY Spring Convention 2012 is a huge success by having a large attendance, a well executed theme, and new programming. Once the convention comes to a close, USYers will look back on that weekend as one of the best experiences of their USY careers.that makes everyone who attends walk away yearning for the next time they can see their USY friends. Being a convention chairman is not an easya long term commitment that requires a lot of time and effort. ...Spring shortening.... Many of us, “Springer” airgun enthusiasts have at some time, needed to replace a main spring in our guns. Some would leave the job to a gunsmith, which is always the best plan if you don’t feel confident or competent to do the job yourself, but there is a certain feeling of deep gratification when YOU work on YOUR rifle, to set it apart from the others. Fitting an aftermarket spring isn’t a difficult job for anyone with some general handyman skills, the right tools and a little knowledge about how the spring gun is put together. The replacement spring will undoubtedly change the shooting characteristics of the gun, not least the muzzle energy. You will see the disclaimers on the spring packaging, saying that in fitting this spring the muzzle energy may exceed the 12ft.lb legal limit....! So, if this happens with your new spring, you will need to shorten it. Before we look at how to do that, perhaps we should try to understand a little more about the spring material and how it responds to the inevitable application of heat at the shortened end. Spring Steels. There are many different types of material that can be used in spring production. Each material has different compositions and properties. Steel spring material is typically 0.45 – 0.90% Carbon, with additions of Manganese, Silicon, Chromium and Vanadium. In general, the more the alloy content, the larger the diameter of wire or rod can be hardened through the entire section. Because...

...Global Interactions November 20, 2014 Paper 1: Arab Spring The Arab Spring refers to a series of popular uprisings throughout the Arab world that began in December, 2010. The catalyst for these uprisings was a twenty-six year old Tunisian, who lit himself on fire outside of a civic building.[1] Mohamed Bouazizi was a fruit and vegetable cart vendor and was trying to sell produce on the streets when his cart was confiscated by a Tunisian government official. This was one of a series of harassments that he had experienced, and the last indignity that he suffered was being slapped by a female Tunisian government employee.[2] He then subsequently set himself on fire, and this event is was set off the Arab Spring, or the Arab Awakening, as it is also called.[3] However, this was only the catalyst; the Arab Spring is a fluid, ongoing event that is steeped in history with economic, political, and social factors contributing to its occurrence. After Mohamed’s self-immolation there were thirty days of national protests in Tunisia before the former Tunisian dictator Zine El Abidine was removed from power.[4] During this time there were others in the Arab world watching this on satellite channels like Aljazeera, so there was an increase in cases of self-immolation in other parts of the Arab world, including Egypt.[5] Many in Egypt were watching this going on and thought that if a small country like Tunisia can overthrow a dictator through popular uprising then perhaps they...

...trigger sight and make us visualize colors and associate it with the words either preceding or proceeding. In the two poems, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost and “Spring and All” by William Carlos Williams, color imagery plays a big role in describing the scene. “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Browning is a poem about nature and how everything is so beautiful at first, but it then becomes subsides and isn’t as wonderful. “Nature’s first green is gold”, this could refer to the sunrise in the morning (499). This reminds me of all the gorgeous hues of a sunrise and how the sky and everything the sun hits seems golden. It could also be referring to seasonal changes. When spring is around, all the flowers and sunlight look amazing, but when the flowers start turning into leaves and falling off, it is a little upsetting to look at. “So dawn goes down to day”, this gives me the sense that Frost is talking about the early mornings (499). Watching dawn turn into day is disappointing, especially when you get to see all the natural colors coming from dawn and then it just turns into another plain day. The last line “Nothing gold can stay” can refer to many things (499). Frost left this last line to the reader to create an image in his or her own head. This could have the reader picturing that the sunrise can’t last forever. It also allows the reader to think about other things that can’t stay forever. I feel as though frost uses the term gold in this sentence to refer to anything...

...energy of a spring is affected by the distance the spring is stretched. During our experiment we experienced two problems. The first was easily resolved, because it dealt with how we were going to attach the spring to both carts in a fixed position. To fix this issue, we opted to hold the spring in place, with our hands, on the stationary cart until the other cart was released. This prevented the spring from falling off of the stationary cart until after impact with the other cart. The other problem we faced was a little more tricky, because we were not sure how to keep the stationary cart in place when the moving cart struck it. Our solution to this problem was simply to hold the cart in...

...To Autumn The poem To Autumn by John Keats is a simple poem that describes the stages of fall. The poem is personification of autumn. The poem is a personification of autumn to better display what autumn is. In the first stanza of the poem autumn is personified as the force that ripening and maturing the crop allowing them to grow and mature. For example the 4th to the 7th verse is With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run; To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees, And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells This displays how the fall is a time of nurture and growth and the ripeness of the flora in the fall that could relate to human life as one grows and matures. He uses this personification to better emphasis the beauty in this stage of autumn. It emphasis the growth of the flora that take place during autumn. It makes in imagery of this stanza more prominent and adds to the beauty one would envision in their head. Imagery in also very prominent in the poem and in the first stanza. In the first stanza every line has some sort of imagery in it. For example the first three verses are Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun Conspiring with him how to load and bless These first three verses display the imagery of the poem and the beautiful sight the author see in the fall. This imagery is placed in...
