Jesus was a Jew, he led a Jewish life and was raised in the Jewish tradition, he taught his faith in the Synagogue. The word ‘Christian’ refers to the followers of ‘the Christ’ - the Messiah, the anointed one. Jesus, in this context could not have been a ‘Christian’ by definition, leaving his religion up to debate. The famous meal known as ‘The Last Supper’ is a large piece of evidence contributing to the belief that he was in fact a Jew, the meal was a Passover meal, a Jewish tradition, a holiday commemorating their liberation by the lord from the cruelty and slavery of the Egyptians. But Jesus was no normal Jew, he spoke with prostitutes and lepers in public, not afraid of being shunned by Jewish society. Jesus grew up in a Jewish family

Leonardo Da Vinci

...LEORNADO DA VINCI AND HIS ART [pic] His early childhood Leonardo da Vinci is usually regarded as an artistic genius who possessed great ability in art and understanding of the human physical features and natural sciences as depicted in his art. Leonardo da Vinci was also an accomplished musician and scientist. No other artist of his generation had such exceptional ability and left behind such a wealth of graphic work. He was somehow controversial and as a young man he was accused of being a homosexual (Frank Zöllner 2002 p.7). However even though most of his works were of exceptional quality he had a tendency of not finishing his works and sometimes fled due to social problems. Leonardo da Vinci was born in 15th April 1452 in the village of Tuscan in Florence (Leonardo 2002 p 3). He was the son of ser piero da Vinci, a young lawyer and Caterina. He was of noble origin form his mother’s side (Leonardo 2002 p 4). His mother bestowed upon him not only the beauty of his person but also very many other gifts that placed him high above ordinary people. It is said that he was somehow a genius and usually solved with ease whatever he put his mind to (Leonardo 2002 p 4). When he was still young he enrolled in the study of very many different things but he usually abandoned them once he had jut began to know them. One of the courses he studied was arithmetic and after a few months he had understood it so much that he used to come up with problems and difficulties which...

...Ethnography Study: Personal Identities of Homeless People This paper is an ethnographic study of the personal identities of people who are homeless and living in Chicago, Illinois. People who are homeless are portrayed in and thought of in negative light. Much too often do people group homeless people into one category in terms of judging their background before meeting them; their state of homelessness has been offered as informative of who they are. Their voices and perspectives rarely contribute to broader knowledge about who they are as people. As such, the forced ‘homeless identity’ has resulted in placing them as ‘different’ than the ‘normal’ people with homes. An August 2014 analysis by Chicago Coalition for the Homeless estimates that 138,575 Chicagoans were homeless in the course of the 2013-14 school year. This is 19.4% more than the 116,042 people who were homeless a year earlier . With the recognition that homelessness is continuously increasing every year come important questions about how this happened, what could be done about it, and who are the people experiencing homelessness. This ethnography is concerned with this last question. This thesis centers on the personal identities of people experiencing homelessness. I want to understand how they see themselves on an individual level. Identities matter. Identifying people on the basis of their homelessness influences how they are thought about, and thus responded to by policy makers, service providers...

Filmandnegotiation

...Fournout This is the text of a lecture given at the conference “New Trends in Negotiation Teaching”, presented by the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School (PON) and the Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation in Europe at ESSEC Business School (IRENE), Nov. 14-15, 2005. Key words: negotiation, leadership, film, fiction, phenomenology, negotiation of meaning, teaching of negociation, pedagogy, imagination, interaction. ----------------------- It is a year since I started courses on negotiation and leadership in which I use full-length films as the main pedagogical tool. It is this experience that I would like to talk about here. I will organize my lecture around three points: first, I will describe the course itself and its background; then, I will try to clarify my pedagogical principles; and finally, I will give you a very quick sample of this pedagogy by showing you some extracts from Lost in La Mancha, and I will make a few comments. 1- The course and its background. This course is given at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (the National Graduate School of Telecommunications in Paris). The three sessions on negotiation are fairly modest in size : 12 hours. I built them around three films. The first one is Le souper (The Supper) where we get an idea of the negotiation between Talleyrand and Fouché a few weeks after Waterloo, when France’s whole future is at stake. The meeting as imagined by the author takes place...

Faith and Diversity

...Taoism are all very strong. The body is very sacred when death has occurred; many practices take place along with many rituals. The comparison between Christianity and the Baptist sect of the Christian faith is somewhat different, in a myriad of ways. Food is not such a priority within the Baptist religion and our values are prioritized in a different way. In this religion healthcare is respected in a way that the word from a physician is not doubted as much as the other religions. The past of medicine is not really accepted, we now consider what is the new, latest and greatest for our family members, whereas the other three religions value cultural rituals and elder’s knowledge for their own healing purposes. Introduction Within this paper, the primary topics of discussion concern themselves with three different religions, and the different ways they handle medical care and treatment. The three main religions that will be discussed include: Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hinduism, and Taoism. Although each religion contains a myriad of differences, several of them subscribe to similar methods of medical treatment and care. With that being said, the differences and similarities of each religion’s methods of medical treatment will be discussed below, allowing the reader to better comprehend the complexities and...

Strategic Management

...Course Description This course introduces the concepts, tools, and first principles of strategy formulation and competitive analysis. It is concerned with managerial decisions and actions that materially affect the success and survival of business enterprises. The course focuses on the information, analyses, organizational processes, skills, and business judgment managers must use to design strategies, position their businesses and assets, and define firm boundaries, to maximize long-term profits in the face of uncertainty and competition. Strategic Management (BUAD 497) is an integrative and interdisciplinary course in two important respects: 1. The course assumes a broad view of the environment that includes competitors, buyers/consumers, suppliers, technology, economics, capital markets, and government both locally and globally. It assumes that the external environment is dynamic and characterized by uncertain changes. In studying strategy, this course draws together and builds on all the ideas, concepts, and theories from your functional courses such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and Statistics. However, it is much more than a mere integration of the functional specialties within a firm. 2. The course takes a general management perspective. It views the firm as a whole, and examines how policies in each functional area are integrated into an overall competitive strategy. We designed this course to develop...

...P r i n c ip l es f o r De c isi o n M a k i n g |1 Principles for Decision Making: Living According to God’s Will Garry Friesen & J. Robin Maxson Copyright is now held by Garry Friesen. This summary of Decision Making and the Will of God may be copied for use in ministry. Add credit line “Used by permission, Garry Friesen.” Introduction Decision Making and the Will of God is a BIG book. Nevertheless, in the twenty-five years since it was released by Multnomah Press, over 250,000 copies have been purchased. Reader response has been enthusiastic, and many have taken pains to express their appreciation. But when your own mother tells you that the book you wrote is too long, it's probably time for a shorter version. We admit that Decision Making and the Will of God cannot be read in an evening. So we have put together this shorter version that can. As painful as it is, we have had to leave some things out. Like three parts of the four-part book. So, you will read nothing of "The Traditional View of Guidance" (Part 1) nor our critique of it (Part 2)--alas. We also had to omit the final section (Part 4) which applies biblical principles of decision making to major decisions such as: marriage, ministry, missions, vocation, giving, and issues where Christians differ. What is left? The heart of the book-a biblical approach to understanding the will of God as it pertains to decision-making. This version is a condensation of those chapters (Part 3) which set forth "The Way of Wisdom."...

Report on Religious Field Research Gospels

... The focus of this paper is on a part of a religion that generally does not have a visible tie to a specific religion, not until it is investigated further, The Gospels. My Prior understanding a Gospel Church is one where there is a lot of standing and singing about God – this is a misunderstanding. The church itself is focused on the four Gospels and what the real meaning is. The word “Gospel” for Christians refers to the “good news” that is a result of Jesus Christ’s death and its meaning (Keathly, 2004). Another misconception of a Gospel Church is the Bishop has his own agenda and does not focus on the Gospels themselves. Also, I have always felt that the church has become a place to be seen, not just for the sighting itself but also be dressed up in the best clothes possible. Another misconception of the Gospels and Christianity is they have nothing do with Jewish faith and they are completely different. Misconceptions are easy to confirm or debunk with research and a non-partial attitude towards what is being investigated. With so many religions in the world how can anyone be sure which religion is best for them? Religion is a result of nurture and not nature, humans in general were not born to follow a specific religion it is a path that is made or forced upon them. The best way to understand other religions is to research and study the standard practices of that religion and if possible, use immersion and experience it in person. Research Overview Over 2000...

Smartphones Effects

...Running Head: SMARTPHONES AND THEIR EFFECT ON OUR SOCIAL INTERACTIONS Smartphones and their Effect on our Social Interactions Ashley L****** NMCC Abstract We walk through this world with our heads down. Immersed in the technological realm, we disregard the real. We converse with our hands rather than our mouths, tapping keyboards and touchpads to the rhythm of our thoughts. This is the way we communicate in the 21st century. In the last decade, advances in information technologies have substantially altered the way humans interact. Between email, texting, social networking, instant messaging, and Skype, people now have the resources that would make it possible to spend days or months without coming face-to-face with another person, yet still remain connected with the world. I love my smartphone. I am in awe at just how much phones have advanced in the last 20 years. From the first one that was gigantic in size, then leading to a smaller simple flip phone to these beautiful, amazing slim pieces of hardware that can do more than I could have ever imagined a phone doing. Smartphones are something to be amazed with. Smartphones can certainly make our lives easier for us as we use them for everyday tasks such as communicating, checking our calendars, using as alarm clocks, as calculators, setting reminders and so much more. However, as smartphones keep advancing with new ways to make our lives easier, are they hindering our natural need for social...

In any company, it is the duty of management to organize events and use all available materials/resources to meet precise needs and objectives while complying to company policies. Managers are and play an important role in any corporation; giving it formation and providing a uniformed line of correspondence necessary to sustaining operations. Diversity and ethics play a huge role in a corporation as it takes the different aspects of a corporation and display the values used for decision-making. There are many different factors that affects all management functions but when used properly by an corporation it will help stay ahead of its rivals. Using Walmart, a multi-billion dollar department store, as an example, the following will give an explanation of how internal and external factors like technology, globalization, innovation, ethics and diversity affect the four functions of management. External/Internal Factors The four functions of management (organizing, leading, planning and controlling) and the way they’re affected by internal and external factors effects the way that management makes determinations...

Study Habits

...to survival and success in the classroom, is efficient use of your time outside the classroom. Remember, there are 24 hours in a day. Set aside two to three hours each day for studying. This will leave you with five to six hours -- after we subtract time for our classes, meals, and a good night's sleep -- to do those things that we like to do much more than studying. The next thing that I feel contributes to survival and success in the classroom is periodic review of your lecture notes and the appropriate chapters in your textbooks. Periodic review and beginning to study for your exams early will save you time in the long run and it will prevent cramming. That way you can be well rested and more motivated and less anxious on test day. The last thing you can do to help get good grades is take advantage of all the academic resources at your university. It can only help you." | - By Dante Battles | The Power of Cooperation "Education often looks like competition. We compete for interest in school, for grades when we're in school, and for jobs when we leave school. In such a climate it is easy to overlook the power of cooperation that is developed through study support groups. Study support groups feed you energy. People are social animals and we draw strength from groups. Aside from the comradery, the fellowship and the fun, support groups can assist you by elevating your spirit. There will be days when you just don't want to work on your education. Other members of the study...
