The movie shows when dally gets shot in the store and when he helps uses a fake gun and he gets shot by the police and he dies then ponyboy starts to read the book gone with the wind. The book says that ponyboy falls to the ground after dally gets shot and he wakes up in his bed. Comparing The Outsiders Book And Movie

...Around 1981, Francis Ford Coppola received a letter from a librarian at Lone Star middle school. The text stated, “ We are all so impressed with the book, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, that a petition has been circulated asking that it be made into a movie. We have chosen you to send it to. In hopes that you might also see the possibilities of a movie, we have enclosed a copy of the book.” The written document was signed by 110 little signatures who were eager for Coppola to make a film. Since he couldn’t resist it, he decided to make one. Two years later, on March 25 The Outsiders was released. As any film director should, he tried to keep the movie close to the original novel by S.E Hinton. However, movies and books are two different ways...

The Outsiders Movie And Book Comparison Essay

...The Outsiders Book/Movie Comparison S. E. Hinton's story "The Outsiders" is a story the examines two different social groups in high school back in the 1960's. The book was such a big hit around the world that Francis Ford Coppola decided to make a movie out of it. When making the movie Francis didn’t want to leave out the little details that made the movie unique. There are many similarities and many differences between the book and the movie. My goal is to examine those similarities and differences and to look at the meaning behind the small details in the book and in the movie. One of the first similarities between the book and the movie was the 1960's setting. The book and movie both use old cars and the way the characters dress to express the story's 1960 setting. In both the book and movie the Socs drive new Mustangs and Corvairs, but the greasers drive old fixed up cars. "The Outsiders" book and movie both have a blue Mustang that is driven by the Socs. The Mustang represents fear and danger in the Greasers eyes, because whenever they see the Mustang coming they know something bad is about to go down. for his little brother, and that he wants Ponyboy to succeed in life. Another relationship represented in the book and the movie is between Johnny and Dally....

The Outsiders Research Paper

...Comparing the two mediums of The Outsiders using advantages and disadvantages a person can determine which one is better. The movie was very short with less detail such as how sodas girlfriend had to move away because she was pregnant with sodas baby and they couldn't get married. The book described cherry very well and cherry's friend Martia at the movies when dally was hitting on cherry and how she became a spy for the greasers. Details In this movie where very slim and boring with left out pieces of something. Such as the abandoned lot and how bob beat up johnny at the lot. When johnny killed him at the lot to get him off of ponyboy. Or when they ran away from home Because darry hit Ponyboy with no detail of how long they were there nor...

The Outsiders Movie And Book Comparison

...We are comparing and stating differences in the book. We read the book The Outsiders. S.E Hinton was the author. I liked the book very much and we eventually watched the movie. As I was reading the book I did not picture the movie the way it was. I am comparing the movie and book and also making some differences. Some of the main characters in the book are Dally, Ponyboy, Johnny, Two-Bit, Darry, and there is other characters that aren't as important. The narrator in the book is pointing at Ponyboy's point of view. To start off, the characters are very different in the book then they are in the movie. Sodapop was in the book more than he was in the movie. There was blonde kids, (Soda and Dally) in the book but there wasn’t in the movie. Sandy wasn’t even mentioned or in the movie and she took a big part in the book. In the book's point of view the narrator is Ponyboy, and in the movie there isn’t really a narrator it is in every one perspective. In the book two-bit was 6 foot tall...

Individuality The Shrew

...o art is apolitical. Whether it’s the quintessential teen movie: “Ten Things I hate about You” or one of the most popular of Shakespeare’s plays (“who, despite being a dead white guy, knew his shit”) “The Taming of The Shrew”. All mediums mirror the social, historical, and cultural context that they were conceived in. Subsequently, changes in time and setting usher in a reconstruction of the mores and values the relevant society holds. This is evident when comparing “The Taming Of The Shrew” and it’s teen film appropriation, “Ten Things I Hate About You”, made to appeal to the 1990’s teenage audience. The theme of individuality is explored throughout both “Ten Things” and “The Taming”, in very different ways. Kat, the protagonist of “Ten Things”...

The Fallacy Using Hasty Generalization

...Looking over various articles from writers I used sound reasoning to break down and analyze their work. Picking a couple of articles out to focus on from the book Monsters I began reading their view points and perspectives from which they wrote the piece. How they decided to argue their case of their choice of subject matter and any fallacies that were possibly used within the text that they felt helped their case. Some fallacies I see helped to make their points better off with a little exaggeration of the situation or comparisons while others seemed a bit more too far off for me. All writers have a different style with variations from the language and words used to the approach they take getting their view across. Let’s begin looking into these articles and see what the writer is trying to tell us through their unique choice and approach they take. In The...

...Kin Faat Chau (Lucas) Professor Gustafson ARLT 101 07/09/2013 Preface Compilation of this extract involved numerous connections of societal development realities whereby tangible sources that supported the document provided critical information, particularly on Los Angeles historical fundamentals. Civilization is the major aspect explored in this study; the supportive materials helped my writing with analogous information that clarified the encompassed perspectives of societal detrimental issues that indicates the need for improvement, as pointed out by Mennell (p. 2). I have to acknowledge these sources for laying a foundation that proved the societal view and responses towards creation of possible change through literacy basics in their perspective community based activities. Social and political class play critical role in shaping people’s life whereby in sometimes they can be destructive rather than constructive in the societies. The view of human nature as a basic reality received in diverse perspectives indicates the need for substantive measures in taking people’s consideration when the moral basics are involved. Formulation of substantial laws to provide governance prospects are areas that many of the authors relied on in this study have proved to require substantive corrections to guide the people who seem to encounter the hardships of accepting others, particularly with the illusive approaches on society well-being. In most cases, as seen in this study,...

Mary and Max

...Mary and Max It is 1976, an 8-year-old Mary Daisy Dinkle (Bethany Whitmore) is a lonely little girl living in Mount Waverley, Melbourne, Australia. Her relatively poor family cannot afford to buy her toys or nice clothing, and she is teased by children at her school due to an unfortunate birthmark on her forehead. Her father is distant and her alcoholic, kleptomaniac mother provides no support. The closest thing she has to a friend is the man for whom Mary collects mail, Len Hislop, a World War II veteran who lost his legs as a prisoner of war and has developed agoraphobia. One day, she decides to write a letter to someone living in New York City: by pure chance she chooses Max Jerry Horowitz (Philip Seymour Hoffman) from a telephone directory. Max turns out to be a morbidly obese 44-year-old whose various mental problems (including anxiety attacks and overeating) have left him unable to form close bonds with other people. Max decides to write back to Mary, and the two become friends. Over time, Mary's increasingly sensitive questions about the adult world give Max progressively worse anxiety attacks, and he is ultimately institutionalized. During his time there, Max is diagnosed with depression and Asperger syndrome. Now aware of why he has difficulty relating to other people, Max finds a new lease on life and resumes his correspondence with Mary. The two remain friends for the next two decades, keeping one another updated on various events in their lives. Mary (Toni Colette)...

Africa

...Africa 10 frica lies south of Europe and southwest of Asia. Geographically it is about three times the size of the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. At its northeast corner is Egypt, which is connected to the Sinai Peninsula—and hence to the Asian continent by a very narrow strip of land. This is the only spot where Africa touches another continent; otherwise, it is surrounded by water. The Mediterranean Sea separates it from Europe in the north; the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden lie between it and the Arabian Peninsula to the east. Two vast bodies of water—the Indian Ocean on the eastern side, and the even larger Atlantic on the west—surround the remainder of Africa. A Why Africa is important One of the greatest civilizations of all time, Egypt, was in Africa. Perhaps the only ancient civilizations that can be compared with it are those of Greece and Rome, which were influenced by it. Egypt, of course, has had its own chapter in this series; and Carthage, in North Africa, is also covered elsewhere.
