“Tell ‘Em We are Rising” –Richard R. Wright Sr. “Sir, tell them we are rising” (Richard R. Wright Sr.) was a statement targeted to northerners that southern blacks had just been freed from slavery and were on the come up. By come up, I mean that they now could go beyond picking cotton in the fields and receive an education, join the army or do whatever they wanted to because they were free. The freeing of slaves led to great things for President Wright. He served in the army, became very successful and had a lot of involvement with National Freedom Day. He strived to make African Americans a part of history according to Kachun (285). Richard Wright Sr.’s accomplishments and hardships influence my mission statement as a future SSU graduate and complies with an analysis of National Freedom Day and why it is important. My understanding of Richard Wright Sr.’s accomplishments and hardships is that no matter where people came from or how they grew up, if they want something they should fight for it. Things are not just handed to them and to become someone special and have a legacy, it is not going to happen overnight. “If a former slave can become an educator, politician, bank entrepreneur etc.” (Wharton Alumni Magazine) anyone in this world can be successful. Everyone goes through certain things and sometimes it is hard but people can’t let that stop them. Whatever it is, they should take it as a lesson learned and move on. No one should mourn about their problems or misfortunes but see what they can do to make them better. Wright never gave up and he didn’t put limits on himself because of his upbringing. His hardships made him a better man, a wealthy man.
As a future graduate of SSU, my mission statement is “Anything is possible, if you believe”. This complies with what I have read because President

...Plenum The air-handling space between the walls, under structural floors, and above drop ceilings when used to circulate and otherwise handle air in a building. Plenum-grade cable can be run through these spaces if local building codes permit it. Decibel (dB) A standard unit used to express a relative measurement of signal strength or to express gain or loss in optical or electrical power. A unit of measure of signal strength, usually the relation between a received signal and a standard signal source. The decibel scale is a logarithmic scale, expressed as the logarithmic ratio of the strength of a received signal to the strength of the originally transmitted signal. For example, every 3dB equals 50 percent of signal strength, so therefore a 6dB loss equals a loss of 75 percent of total signal strength. Signal Attenuation A reduction of signal strength during transmission, such as when sending data collected through automated monitoring. Attenuation is represented in decibels (dB), which is ten times the logarithm of the signal power at a particular input divided by the signal power at an output of a specified medium. Crosstalk The coupling or transfer of unwanted signals from one pair within a cable to another pair. Crosstalk can be measured at the same (near) end or far end with respect to the signal source. Crosstalk is considered noise or interference and is expressed in decibels. Federal Communications Commission - FCC An independent U.S. government regulatory...

...http://ammtiac.alionscience.com/quarterly Larry X Schneider Pulsed Power Sciences Center Sandia National Laboratories Albuquerque, NM The article entitled “Wired for Success: Ensuring Aircraft Wiring Integrity Requires a Proactive Systems Approach”, which was published in Vol. 8, No. 3 of the AMPTIAC Quarterly (a predecessor to the AMMTIAC Quarterly), established the importance of maintaining wiring integrity, especially in aging aircraft. The article also emphasized the need for nondestructive approaches for evaluating the integrity of wiring systems and components. The current article answers the mail in terms of providing a nondestructive inspection (NDI) method to proactively ensure wiring integrity. – Editor INTRODUCTION Detecting and locating insulation defects in wiring systems is a nontrivial challenge. Ideally, the diagnostic should be nondestructive, capable of detecting a variety of insulation defects, such as cracking, chaffing, and abrasion, and be able to locate the defect accurately to reduce potential inspection and maintenance costs. The diagnostic should also have a low rate of false detection. Complicating this quest is the nature of complex wiring systems. For example, aircraft wiring systems are comprised of harnesses containing periodically bound single wire pairs* which create highly non-uniform impedance characteristics due to the varying distance between wire pairs. Insulation defects may also be physically small, resulting in...

Cabling Factors and Tools Discussion

...account when either pre-wiring a house or wiring after the house is complete, are the routing of the cable and the quality of the wire used. These two points are often overlooked and the decision to wire the house at all often comes as an afterthought, when most if not all of the interior of the structure has been completed. Pre-wiring your house, or installing the wire in the stage of construction just before the drywall goes on, is always the preferred method and offers the most flexibility in placement of outlets and the routing of your cable .When deciding on the location of your outlets, try to visualize where you'll eventually be placing the furniture in the room in relation to the location of your television. Internet services are also being provided now by a lot of cable companies so placing an outlet in a spot near your planned computer station is also a good idea .In general it's a good idea to put at least one outlet in every room whether or not you plan to use it immediately. At least it will be there when it is needed, avoiding the drilling of any unsightly holes in the future. Outlet boxes can be purchased at any hardware store and should be fastened to the wall stud in the location that you want at the same height as existing electrical outlets. It is recommended to install the outlet box in the adjacent wall stud cavity. Any wiring system should have a suitable ground and wiring for your cable TV needs is no exception. When planning your wiring layout always take...

Construction and Extraction Projections

...Construction and Extraction occupations are expected to grow by about 10% by 2016. This is according to the Occupational Quarterly Outlook (2007). While this is not the leading occupational group growth, it is still on the increase. More than half of these new jobs will be to replace older, retired workers (OQO, 2007) Construction and Extraction occupations include skilled trades such as, Boilermakers, Masons, Carpenters, Carpet Installers, Building Inspectors, Drywall Installers, Gas and Oil workers, and Electricians, to name a few. You can see a more complete list in the Occupation Outlook Handbook, under the Construction and Extraction tab. For an entry level position in one of these fields a high school diploma or equivalent is needed. While the projected growth for Construction and extraction job as a whole is only 10%, the growth for Electricians is much higher. As of 2010 there were 577,000 electrician jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the projected job growth for this trade is 23% between 2010 and 2020. This is faster growth than all other occupations. This growth will be caused by more new homes and business being built that need wired. There will be more alternative power such as, wind and solar too. This will require new skills for electricians. There is expected to be 133,700 new jobs. The average pay for a skilled electrician is $48,250 a year or $23.20 an hour. Most electricians will only need a high school diploma or the equivalent, although some...

Building a New Structure

...Lairquneder Robinson 06 April 2015 Building a New Structure A lot of thought, decision, and design goes into building a new structure on a school campus. A few of those decisions goes towards what wiring and cabling the building will have. There are quite a few codes, standards, and specifications that needs to be followed. Some of those guidelines are NFPA, NEMA, FCC, UL, and NEC. NFPA stands for National Fire Protection Association. NFPA was founded in 1896 as a nonprofit organization to help protect property, people, and the environment from fire damage. It’s now an international organization representing over 100 countries with 65,000 members. NFPA’s mission is to help reduce the risk of fire through safety requirements, research, codes, and fire-related education. NFPA is published every three years. It covers issues related to electrical safety requirements and it’s not used as a design specification or instruction manual. NFPA publishes 300 codes and standards. They are designed to minimize the risk and effects of fire. Its over 200 technical codes-and standard- development committees and is comprised of over 2,000 volunteer seats. The volunteers vote on revision and proposals in a process that is accredited by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute). NFPA also provides free online access to its codes and standards. NEMA stands for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. NEMA is the association of medical imaging and electrical equipment...

Building a New Structure - Rfp

...My RFP for this building is I will be wiring this entire building with Cat5e cable because it’s cheaper and better to use in a building like this. I will try and get the job done as quickly as possible; it probably will take me about 3 or 4 day to wire this building. I will provide all the labor, material, tools and equipment need for this job. Me and my team will do a great job on wiring your building and have it up in running in no time. I plan to have your Telco room in the back of the building in the left corner with all the theory rooms and labs surrounding it. I will have racks and switches setup in the Telco room for the other rooms , but for labs 4 and lab 1 I will have a switches in those rooms because those tow labs have the most computers in them and that’s a lot of cable to run from every computer in those rooms back to the Telco room . So I will just put the switches in the labs mount them on the wall or a have racks setup so the stiches and cables can be place and cable be neatly organized, and have to main cables running from those rooms back to the Telco room. Then with the other two labs , LRC I will do the same thing as I did with the other labs so it want be so much cable and they have their own switch in them , with the 5 theory rooms and front desk I will have 3 cables in each room going back to the Telco room . All the cables in all rooms will be organized and in the Telco room will have the cables on racks so they are neat and if a cable...

Breaking Tradition

...companies are still electing to us copper networking. The reason that copper is still on top is because the companies that manufacture it are making sure that copper wire is still being made specifically for certain infrastructures. Copper wiring also seems to be a lot easier to work with for the time being due to lack of engineering economical of the 24 or 48 port fibers switches. I think that quality of the information was short, sweet and to the point. This article was not overloaded with information. If also was not difficult for anyone person to understand the point of it. I do not know much about the in and outs of computers. Even less about the behind screens of putting the network and the hardware together. I think the way the article was presented was done very well. Personally, I think that it take time for people get on broad with new technology. In my opinion, this article seems to be well informative. Also in reading the material it was very descriptive in regards to the contrast between copper cabling and fiber-optic cable. It went into detail regarding both the pros and cons between for the use of fiber-optic cable. However at the end of the article the writer proceeds to states that he feels that copper wiring is 15 years out dated. I feel that there is also of good benefits to using fiber-optic cable. As the author also states, “fiber-optic cable offers greater pulling strength and is immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio-frequency...
