This Tastes Good, It Must Not Be Healthy! “Lose weight, feel great!” – Unknown. When someone eats something tasty, the first thought that pops into mind is this must be a million calories! In a lot of cases this is true. However, with a new snack made by Special K, this is not the problem. The new chocolate Pastry Crips look appetizing and absolutely delicious! Not only is it the perfect snack but it is less than 100 calories. On this magazine ad, it sends out a message to anyone and everyone. The colors grasp the attention of any reader. The pastries on the plate are appetizing to the eye! The two little angels on the page symbolize heaven and the sweetness of this treat. The chunks of chocolate are just a bonus to the ad, as chocolate is lovable by a majority of people. This ad has a lot of components and bright colors, but they all catch the attention and make the reader want and crave a perfectly sweet, delightful light snack that is also healthy to eat. The company did a fine job sending out the message to all ages and both sexes. First, Special K is a well-known brand to eat for low calorie, healthy snacks and breakfast items. When buying this product, the customer is aware of the motive of this brand. The ad shows that you can eat something that is not bad for your body but still tastes delicious. The Aristotelian Rhetorical Technique used behind this is pathos. It gives the feeling of satisfying ones cravings without it being horrible to the body, or gaining any weight. The value is health, and the ad is saying you can still have great health even if you buy this product and eat it. In addition to the low calorie snack, the ad shows a lot of red and pink colors, along with hearts, flowers, birds, balloons and even two baby angels. The colors are pretty, and symbolize fun and make the reader feel happy. The Technique is also pathos, causing a good mood and happiness. The value shown here are colors. The colors attract people to look over the page and view the product. It allows more focus for this ad as the reader is passing through the pages. The flowers and hearts give a warm, love feeling and the baby angels portray the sweetness of this product. Furthermore, adding more to the ad besides the vibrant colors, the food on the plate make the reader want it and crave it as they are passing through pages of the magazine. The three pieces of the pastry Crips look appetizing and delicious, with the chocolate drizzled lightly on the top of them. The technique that was used here was pathos also. The pastries are grasping the eyes attention and become the main focus, making the reader feel like they should have one at the moment because of how delicious it looks. The value here is hunger. Although one may not seem hungry at the time, the attractiveness of the ad and the pastries on the plate cause the reader to seem like they want one. Not only are the pastries on the plate important, but the chocolate chunks shown is also a tremendous factor in this ad. Chocolate is loved by most people, and this product is made up of chocolate inside and out. The technique used here would have to be logos, because the company is using the logic of chocolate to persuade and bring in customers to buy this product. The value here is love of chocolate. Just the fact it will have chocolate in it will seduce a lot of people and get them to try this product. Most people will find this a good enough reason to try something, and the ad in the magazine has achieved the goal of setting minds to think this way. Last but not least, Special K achieved reaching out to its readers by using the Aristotelian Techniques and different techniques to reach out to the readers, mostly pathos with a hint of logos. Every detail used in this ad can be related to people of all ages and both genders. Special K is known for tasty treats that is healthy for the body. The colors and symbols used draw in the attention of readers as they flip through pages of the magazine. The pastries lying on the plate gives readers a sweet tooth, craving the chocolate deliciousness. Little angels on the page symbolize the sweetness of this product, and proclaiming it must be a good product. To make things even better, the chocolate chunks shown on the page just wraps it all up. Chocolate is known to make people feel better even when feeling down, so this is a perfect snack being that it is only 100 calories! Special K went beyond the ad, and tried to relate to people. The ones who are trying to watch what they eat, people who want something light and sweet to snack on, or even those who just want both without the weight to come along with it. It is a great way to watch what you eat, but with all the delicious flavors that come with it!

Argument Essay

...Name: Professor: l Course: Eng-103 Date:12/03/2015 Taste Education Taste education as propagated by Slow Food Movement is the act of bringing food back to its roots. The critical aspect in the taste education debate deals with the way culture relates to food. Taste education protagonists argue that there is disconnect between the younger generation and the sources of what they term as fair food systems. Ideally, the future is at stake regarding the young people not understanding the food systems in a much easier way. People tend to be very busy on a daily basis, that little time is spent on refining and expanding knowledge of food thereby appreciating food. As mentioned early, food must involve aspects of culture, pleasantness, and pleasure. The reason as to why the taste education debate is controversial is due to the increasing rate of fast and junk foods that have been identified as serious threats to the health of both young and the elderly. Younger people tend to lack the knowledge of cooking when they grow. It affects them regarding understanding the quality of food they are expected to eat. The underlying fact is that there is a failure on the part of the parents who are to blame for the lack of this knowledge. That begs another question; does it mean that the parents too lack the expertise to cook? On an analytical perspective, taste education is an aspect that truly lacks in our education systems and among the general human fraternity. There is a growing crop of...
