...Solution 1: Camps provided an opportunity for the campers enrolled to establish lifelong friendships, new skills, appreciation to the outdoors, achieve independence and contribute towards the community, through the variety of programs and activities provided by the camps. Exposure to such activities provides valuable experience to the enrollers (campers), which can help shape, the enrollers in future. Parents are well aware of this and always look to provide such an experience to their children. For a camp business direct customers are the campers or enrollers who influence the parents and the indirect customers are the parents who actually pay for the campers. In making decision to enroll to the camp customers take into account the location and quality of equipment’s in the facility, at the` same time the programs offered are important as well. Parents and children during their social gatherings and meets often discuss plans for the summer, some of the conversations also lead to discussions of positive experiences previously enrolled campers or their parents had with a camp. Such social meets is one of the important factors in deciding to enroll to a camp along with the pressure from their children to enroll them in camps where their friends are going. A happy camper and his parent always will pass down the good reputation and positive experience they had with a camp. Many decisions of enrolling to a camp are highly dependent on word-of-mouth reputation of the camp. Some...

...looked around with excitement. Again, I noticed something odd about this wedding. All the participants and guests appeared about four feet high. The "groom" had long hair pinned up with brown lines on her face (was that supposed to be a beard?) The wedding location, a back yard with a swing set and a wading pool, seemed far from romantic. This wedding however was not supposed to be one of those types of weddings. As I pressed the "PLAY" button on the tape recorder I knew that ten 4-6-year-old girls cared deeply about this wedding. Despite the absence of a reason for celebration, I pulled all the girls into the circle and we started dancing and clapping to the music. The energy that went into the preparation on previous days could finally be appreciated. My campers and I not only celebrated the accomplishment of the mock wedding, we celebrated the fun and excitement we experienced for the first three weeks in Camp Glitter Girls. I had begun preparing for Camp Glitter Girls over four months before by budgeting, sending out fliers, confirming registration and finally making sure that every camper would have the time of her life. As I danced, I celebrated the times I almost lost my patience but didn't, the times that I planned activities late into the night because I knew that only an organized schedule would ensure the success of my camp. The lessons I had learned from previous summer camps contributed greatly to this camp's success. At the age of thirteen, I first ran a camp for...

...System (ORAS) web portal. The system was designed with two distinct functions –for clients/campers to make reservation requests and for clients/campers who make successful reservations to make a payment online. The value of the current system provides to Saskatchewan Park’s services at least three-fold, for both Park Services and clients/campers. Firstly, the information clients/campers provide is stored in a database rather than in personnel email accounts. Because of this, a client’s pertinent information about the campsite selected and any other data supplied by the client allowed the park service a more informed way to service the client’s needs and provide for their expectations. Another benefit gained from using Online Reservation Administration System (ORAS) was it enabled analysis of the two different types of reservations (demand vs availability by date and campground) by looking at campers’ data and payment information. The third way the system adds value is that campers were able to make payments online, and this freed-up the park staff from spending so much time obtaining credit card payments for campsite reservations. The value this new system added to campers was efficiency and came in the form of automation. To remove any links in a long chain of events to procure a campsite lease is, in itself, value added. Mathisa Curhane is looking to create the best possible value for campers while at the same time providing her staff with the necessary data for a detailed analysis...

Flexibility and Adaptability Communication and Collaboration Finding Humor Questioning and Posing Problems Tortoise versus turtle: Both tortoises are reptiles and look very similar. The main difference is that tortoises live on the land while turtles spend most of their time in the water. Did you pack your sunscreen, campers? Today, we’re heading to the desert! Desert habitats are areas that receive very little rain. Around a third of the Earth’s surface is actually covered in deserts. Out of all of the deserts, only 20% of the deserts are actually covered in sand! Deserts aren’t always the hot and sandy places we see in the movies. There are actually two main types of deserts – hot deserts and cold deserts. The Sahara desert is the largest hot desert in the world. It spans across 12 different countries! During the day, the thermometer climbs to around 100 degrees. At night, when the heat from the sun is gone, it climbs down to below freezing! Did you know that the polar regions of the world, the Arctic and Antarctica, are considered cold deserts? Even with major temperature differences between hot and cold deserts, they share one thing in common: how desolate they are. You have to be very well adapted to living in these harsh...

...“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” – Joe from “The Princess Diaries” (and Eleanor Roosevelt) I have been spending seven weeks at Camp Tevya each summer since the summer before eighth grade. My mom had gotten a job as the Head of Arts and Crafts, and she brought my sisters and me with her to camp. I have never been one of those people who are always loud and bouncing around with all seventy of their friends, so it was a bit of culture shock going to camp for the first time. Everybody was very outgoing and always surrounded by their friends. I had a very hard time fitting in and adapting to the overly extroverted environment. This was doubly hard for me as a camper because I was forced to spend my entire day with the same 21 girls, all of whom had already been friends for at least three years....

...the summer and the great outdoor land that they have to offer for a Christian summer camp. This would mean our camp would be open Seven weeks a year only for the summer. Along with our campus minster leader and four other WCF members we could run the camp from offsite different churches. The competitor market in Boone has a few different summer camps. Our competitive edge comes from the fact that our camp be able to have lower prices from other camps should as the Rainbow camp. They offer more stuff to do on the mountains however the cost would be over a 100 dollars more than our camp. Rainbow Camp includes lodging for overnight camp but the cost is about $280 dollars a week we can afford to just charge about $150 dollars a week per camper. Rainbow camp has a few more advantages that we unfortunately do not like being able to have a swimming pool (Camp Rainbow, Inc.). We also would be able to advertise through the local churches as well. We can work out with deals with the...

...Organizational Behavior Analysis LC Lynn Organizational Behavior – BUS 610 Dr. Stephen Garaga May 27, 2013 The organization being analyzed is that of a family-owned campground. The employees consist of college-age students, several mature adults and the owners’ children. The way in which this organization behaves and functions is a direct result of the behavior and personality of the male owner, Marty. Were Marty to stop being directly involved in the day-to-day, customer service aspect of the campground, the business would flourish, the work atmosphere would be less stressful, the employees would be less guarded and the customers would be treated better. As part of the interview process, the potential employee is made to understand that they are expected to be people oriented, have a keen attention to detail and work well with others. Prior to being hired, “prospective employees are…told (explicitly) about the organization’s (i.e., Marty’s) philosophy” (Baack, 2012), specifically that each person who works there, with the noted exceptions of himself, his wife and his children, are of no value and are expendable. This immediately sets the tone and working relationship between himself and the employees. The work atmosphere is generally tense and uncomfortable, the employees cautious and restrained and the customers frequently made to feel unwelcome, due to the owner’s, attitude and treatment of others. The children of the owners deal with their father and...

...Personality type ESTJ is a unique combination. Out of the 16 personality types, ESTJ’s account for 8.7% of the US population. ESTJ stands for: Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judgement (The Supervisor). With the strength and boldness coming from an ESTJ it is very hard to overlook them. Do not think you can break any plans with them, trust me, they like to have everything planned out. If their plans do not work out, that ESTJ is not a happy camper. The ESTJ personality comes with many strengths. One strength being the act of loyalty towards anyone (16 personalities). As one would do, if himself or herself let someone down, it is a major problem. Some people would not even think twice about letting someone down and that is because of their certain personality type. However, for ESTJ’s that is one of the worst things you could possibly do. Another strength for them is how strongly they enforce rules no matter what the situation is. For some people following rules is very hard, or buckling down to peer pressure to not follow them can also be a problem but for ESTJ’s it is there second nature. I bet you would not be surprised when I say ESTJ’s have to be organized. Do not think one can go without...

...Each year in Oregon State thousands of juvenile offenders commit crimes against innocent victims. As a result, the states' juvenile courts are eternally bogged down by more cases than they can handle, detention centers don't have enough beds to house all of the new offenders, and an alarming number of offenders serve their time and then return to detention several more times before finally cleaning up their acts or graduating to the adult justice system and presumably, prison (Kulongoski). By far the worst flaw in the current system comes from the lack of consensus on the part of policy makers and voting public over what should be done about the problem. By focusing almost exclusively on punitive measures they are missing a valuable opportunity to rehabilitate young people and to guide them toward becoming responsible and contributing members of society. Instead of institutionalizing suggestible minds, guaranteeing that every third person that is locked up will be back at least two or three more times as a juvenile (Parker, 2006), Oregon lawmakers should support the development and utilization of wilderness therapy programs which are quickly proving to be able to drastically reduce the recidivism rates among their graduates. It is important to acknowledge up front that in some cases detention facilities do serve an important social function. It is not the purpose of this paper to argue for the dismantling of these facilities altogether. Getting violent criminals - those convicted...
