...Report. Communication Forms: Written: Written communication is a way of two individuals to communicate. E.G. text messaging, email, letters, and reports. When writing an email to someone, it can make it easier for you and the person receiving the email because it is instant and do not have to wait for it to be received either through the post or finding the person to give it to them. An email can be useful because an email can be sent to many different people instead of just one person receiving it. Phones can receive emails which is useful because if the person is out they can receive the email to their phones. Problems with emails is that the emails can be sent to a trash folder which means you will not know that you have been sent the email. Not every email is received and having a crowded inbox can mistake you for a different email or you may not see the email. Touch: Touch communication can show a person reassurance, empathy and also respect. Being touched can be people’s weak points, some may not want to be touched or like being touched. Touching can invade people’s person space, or it can be sexual harassment. It is important to remember when communicating through touch that other cultures non-verbal communication is different to other cultures. Using touch communication can let deaf or blind people know that you are in their presence. A hand on the shoulder for one person may mean a supportive gesture, handshakes are a common form of touch communication, and a gentle...

...Unit 4 business communication Explain the different types of information, their sources and purpose that exist for a chosen business, I have chosen Tesco. Telephone Purpose of information - communicating to someone via telephone can be fast way to give someone important information for example a change in time for an important business meeting. Telephoning someone is much more personal than emailing or sending a letter. One disadvantage of telephoning someone is that you don’t always have single and sometimes people have their phones switched off, this is not good if you need to make an urgent phone call. But you can always leave them a voice mail message. Source of information(internal and external) - one way a phone call could be internally used by Tesco is if a manager needed extra staff urgently he or she could ring up staff they think would be able to make it in such short notice. One way Tesco could externally use a phone call could be to contact a customer about a complaint they made. Face to face Purpose of information – face to face is a lot more personal than a phone because you can see their body language and f acial expressions, for example you can see whether they are showing signs of confusion so you can slow do and try and explain what you are saying more clearly. By talking to someone in person you can give them more direct information. Source of information (internal and external) – one example of internal face to face use In Tesco would be if an manager...

...M1 Businesses are able to use different ways off communicational skills to illustrate information throughout their business. I am going to be interpreting and analysing the different methods of communication used throughout South Cheshire College, being a member of this college I have first-hand experience with the types of communication they use. Firstly I will analyse the verbal methods of communication, there is many different types of verbal methods including phone calls, face-to-face, business meetings and much more. However the most commonly used verbal method for the college is Face-to-face. During our induction day at the college face to face communication was used whilst our first meeting with our personal tutor. Information like this originated from administration as they have managed to provide our tutor with the necessary information needed to tell us during the original meeting, insuring we have all the correct knowledge needed to complete the course. The purpose of this type of communication in this instance was to ‘update knowledge’ for example our personal tutor ran through what our timetable was going to be like during our first year at college as we were unsure of what our lesson times were going to be like. Also taking us through the rules of the college and making sure we understood what was expected of us as students, and basic rules around the college, for example where the smoking areas are outside of the college, then she went through the consequences...

...Khanna MA (Communication and Journalism) Communication Theory – Literature Review Topic : Is Transpersonal communication a stand-alone type of communication or a subtype of Intrapersonal communication? Department of Communication and Journalism, Mumbai University (2013) Abstract: Transpersonal communication is principally defined as a communication between a person and God, spirits, ancestors, or other divine entities. However, their existence is debatable and depends on the individual’s beliefs. It is his mind which believes in their existence or absence which ultimately leads to the question of whether the person actually communicated with a second entity or himself. This raises the question as to whether transpersonal communication can be regarded as a stand-alone type of communication or a subtype of intrapersonal communication which is principally defined as communication within an individual. Hypothesis: * Transpersonal communication is a stand-alone type of communication * Transpersonal communication is a subtype of intrapersonal communication * Transpersonal communication is maybe a subtype of intrapersonal communication Objective: To know the degree up to which transpersonal communication can be regarded as a stand-alone type of communication Literature Review: “Levels of communication are determined on the basis of the number of people involved in the process of communication as well as on the purpose of communication. Intrapersonal...

...Communication and Collaboration: Learning Styles and Personality Types Communication and Collaboration: Learning Styles and Personality Types Learning how to communicate with others can be difficult at times, but if one learns what each person needs to do in order to succeed and knows one’s self, then working with these different individuals can be an extremely enlightening experience. The most important factors in this process are learning each person’s learning styles and personality traits. Knowing Yourself Learning Styles “When you understand how you learn, you can make more active and effective decisions about how to choose study strategies and pursue learning goals” (Carter, Bishop & Kravits, 2007). In the Pathways to Learning worksheet, developed by Joyce Bishop, Ph.D. and based upon Howard Gardener’s Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligence, Gardener shows that there are many different learning styles and with each learning style come strengths and weaknesses for each individual. These learning styles consist of “Verbal/Linguistic, Musical/Rhythmic, Logical/Mathematical, Visual/Spatial, Bodily/Kinesthetic, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, and Naturalistic” (Carter et al, 2007). Every individual fits under a certain category and sometimes more than one. That is why it is sometimes frustrating to find effective studying techniques and can be difficult to harness in a setting with multiple people. After taking this assessment I learned that I have three strong...

...Steven (2008) defines communication as a process of sending and receiving messages that enable humans to share knowledge, attitudes and skills. Although communication is usually identified with speech, communication is composed of two dimensions namely verbal and nonverbal communication. Verbal communication is defined by Steven (2008) as communication effected by word of mouth. Nonverbal communication has been defined by Calero (2005) as communication without words. It includes apparent behaviours such as facial expressions, eye contact, touching, posture environmental cues among many others. Everything communicates, including material objects, physical space and time systems. Verbal and nonverbal communication are linked together synchronously hence, in a classroom setup nonverbal communication is inevitable when speaking to pupils. Ergin and Birol (2005) indicate that, the real communication between two persons begins when two of the persons establish eye contact. Eye contact in a classroom setup helps the teacher to convey content to be taught with confidence and vigilance of most of the things happening in the classroom. It also helps the teacher to gain control and respect, capture the learner’s attention and involve almost every learner in the classroom. According to Gower and Walters (1983) the teacher can uses eye contact in the classroom to show a pupil who is talking that he or she is taking notice of it and to encourage contributions when he or she is trying to elicit...

With this in mind there are pros and cons to some of the new age technology communication. Security, laws, policies, and regulations must be met with all types of medical communication. When addressing the general public regarding the situation these pros and cons will need to be considered. There are several types of communication methods for managing the situation in Option 2. The fact that a news report and the addressing of the public will be occurring there will be several options available. More than one type of communication can be at work for both tasks. The first type of communication is verbal and nonverbal. Verbal communication can reach a majority of the public through radio, TV, and internet while nonverbal can only address TV, internet, newspaper, and journals. ...examples for different types of audiences. A type of written communication that can be used when communicating business information is a letter. This type of written communication would be suitable for KFC to communicate with when writing to the government. To elaborate on, this is because the format of a letter is set out as professional and formal and when writing to the government it is required that you write formal and professionally. This is why a letter would be the most suitable written communication for KFC because this letter will give the government a good first impression on KFC and it will prove to them that KFC is a company that is very capable of being successful. In addition, when writing the letter to the government KFC would also need to make sure that they know their audience. Because their audience is the government it means that they are inexperienced in the situation that you are talking about to them. This means that when writing the letter KFC would need to explain everything in detail so that the government fully understand the concept of the letter. A Memorandum, also known as memo is also another non electric communication that can be used when communicating business information. A written communication like this would be most suitable for the sales department in KFC to communicate to the finance department. This is because a memorandum expresses its communication through graphs and charts. Therefore, the audience for this communication would be the finance...

...manager of a local business. This could be a firm that you work for, a shop that you visit regularly or even a family business. Your interview should find out the following: • The types of information they use with examples • The sources from which they get information • The purposes to which they put the information Different Types of information There is a different and wide variety of ways information can be used and sourced, and with an effective business person, they will research the information from a range of different sources before making that decision on which one their business should use. The types of information are: Verbal, written, onscreen, multi-media, and web based. Verbal information This type of information is based on a face-to face verbal communication and is considered the best way to communicate both internal and external. This means there is less scope for misunderstanding and it allows both verbal and non-verbal messages to go through. This is with the constraints of time and budgets in business, and it is not always possible or practical to meet the person, this is such as using telephone conversations, face time, that are also useful ways to communicate verbally, but it is still as important always to use a combination of methods. These ranges of verbal communications are huge as many businesses use this method for information, as speech enables complex ideas to be expressed and discussed. This means that although the absence of speech wouldn’t...

...Health Care Communication Methods Morgan Pence HCS/320 June 15, 2013 Luis Marquez As the communication coordinator for a national drug manufacturer, I am here today to discuss with the organization the negative effects that our medication is causing on the public. This meeting will be addressing the news reports and the general public about the situation at hand. Also I will be going over the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional, electronic, and social media with health care communication. The first type of communication that will be discussed is the use of traditional communication. Traditional communication includes the face-to-face method, using the telephone, having a team meeting and using printed newsletters. With using face-to-face communication one of the advantages would be that each person gets to see one another which makes it easier to read their body language and understand better what might be occurring. Another advantage would be the personal relationship that can be built between the people who are communicating. Disadvantages would include not being able to speak what is on ones mind to the person when looking at them. Another would be not being very good at confronting someone who may be of higher authority than them. Next type is the telephone, which has the advantage of still allowing the person to voice what they have to say and be able to adjust their tone when needed. Disadvantage would be that the phone could...
