Script – one to one
A midwife is talking to a newly single expectant mother about a change in her birthing plan. Sarah has recently been left by her long term partner after she discovered he was cheating on her. She is visiting the midwife to discuss the changes in her birth plan, as to whether she wants a home birth or a hospital birth.
Sarah: (knocks on door)
Midwife: come in.
Sarah: (sitting at a 90° in close proximity) Hello.
Midwife: (leaning forward, arms open) Hi! What can I help you with today?
Sarah: (looking upset and down at her feet, fidgeting with fingers) I’m thinking of changing the birthing plan that we had agreed on.
(lift head)
Midwife: (looking confused, making eye contact and reaching out a hand and placing it on Sarah’s arm) what has happened to make you change your mind?
Sarah: (turning head away and fidgeting in chair) my long term partner left me after I discovered he was cheating on me. I just don’t think that I can do the hospital birth without him.
Midwife: (showing empathy on face and in voice) we will do whatever is most comfortable for you. It’s your birth at the end of the day and you are the most important. So what are you thinking now?
Sarah: (sitting more upright in her chair and coughing) I think I want to do a home birth, so that I can feel more comfortable with familiar things around me.
Midwife: (smiling and starting to take notes) whatever you feel most comfortable with. Are you thinking of having anyone present with you at the time of birth?
Sarah: (making eye contact after the midwife has looked up from her notes) I think I want my mother to be with me.
Midwife: (looks down to take notes, kindness in voice) is that everyone?
Sarah: (laughing) and, well, you obviously.
Midwife: (laughing, making eye contact) oh, well yes. Are you sure that you don’t want another birthing partner, maybe your best friend?

Unit Of Measurement In Drama

...A ‘Unit of Measurement' is important, whether in math, science or in acting. Plays are divided into acts, scenes and units. In theatre, a unit is the smallest actable portion in a script. A unit is the building block of conflict, and conflict is essential in drama. Scoring a script helps actors to clarify motivations, organize dramatic structure, and get specific with the nuances of the characters and the story. If scene partners score a script together, it can help get everyone on the same page. It is a tool to help actors focus their performances. There are many ways to score a script. Most modern American acting courses use a method that breaks scripts into "beats and units" and describes a character's arc in terms of "objectives, tactics and...

Unit 5 Reseach Assignment

...Five advantages: 1. C++ is well-suited for large projects because it has an object-oriented structure. People can collaborate on one program by breaking it up into parts and having a small group or even one individual work on each part. The object-oriented structure also allows code to be reused a lot, which can cut down development time. C++ is also a fairly efficient language - although many C programmers will disagree. 2. C is a popular language, especially in game programming, because it doesn't have the extra packaging of the object-oriented C++. Programmers use C because it makes programs slightly faster and smaller than programs written in C++. You might wonder, however, whether it's worth giving up the reusability of C++ to get the small increase in performance with C, especially when C++ can, where necessary, be written in a C programming style. 3. Pascal is primarily a teaching language. Few industrial programs are written in Pascal. Pascal tends to use keywords instead of C-style braces and symbols, so it is a bit easier for beginners to understand than languages like C++. Still, not everyone thinks Pascal is just for the schools. Borland, the huge compiler software company, has been pushing Delphi as an industrial strength programming language. Delphi is an object-oriented version of Pascal, and currently, only Borland compilers use it. 4. Java is a multi-platform language that is especially useful in networking. Of course, the most famous usage of Java is on...

...Version 1.0 General Certificate of Education (A-level) June 2011 ICT (Specification 2520) INFO1 Unit 1: Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World Final Mark Scheme Mark schemes are prepared by the Principal Examiner and considered, together with the relevant questions, by a panel of subject teachers. This mark scheme includes any amendments made at the standardisation events which all examiners participate in and is the scheme which was used by them in this examination. The standardisation process ensures that the mark scheme covers the candidates’ responses to questions and that every examiner understands and applies it in the same correct way. As preparation for standardisation each examiner analyses a number of candidates’ scripts: alternative answers not already covered by the mark scheme are discussed and legislated for. If, after the standardisation process, examiners encounter unusual answers which have not been raised they are required to refer these to the Principal Examiner. It must be stressed that a mark scheme is a working document, in many cases further developed and expanded on the basis of candidates’ reactions to a particular paper. Assumptions about future mark schemes on the basis of one year’s document should be avoided; whilst the guiding principles of assessment remain constant, details will change, depending on the content of a particular examination paper. Unit 5 Research Paper

...Unit 5 Research Assignment 1 PT1420 * A shell script is a computer program designed to be run by the Unix shell, a command line interpreter. The various dialects of shell scripts are considered to be scripting languages. * Advantages of using shell script is that the commands and syntax are exactly the same as those directly entered at the command line. The programmer does not have to switch to a totally different syntax, as they would if the script were written in a different language, or if a compiled language was used. Often, writing a shell script is much quicker than writing the equivalent code in other programming languages. The many advantages include easy program or file selection, quick start, and interactive debugging. A shell script can be used to provide a sequencing and decision-making linkage around existing programs, and for moderately sized scripts the absence of a compilation step is an advantage. Interpretive running makes it easy to write debugging code into a script and re-run it to detect and fix bugs. Non-expert users can use scripting to tailor the behavior of programs, and shell scripting provides some limited scope for multiprocessing. * Most common usage methods of PowerShell is interactive console (powershell.exe) and script files (with extension of .ps1, that is also usually executed by powershell.exe). Main features of PowerShell are: .Net integration, object pipeline, easy access to many management domains (WMI, ADSI, COM, .NET etc...

Use tempDB -- Create a script that checks to see if MyNewTable Exists, drop it if it does. Recreate the query in Question 1 so that table does not allow an insert where the createdDate is less than the current datetime --- Insert a row into MyNewTable using the current datetime value--- If your Insert completed successfully something is wrong with your previous statements. If it failed? Explain why and how you might change the create table --- In order to fix the problem, assuming you always want to insert every row using the current date time value. Hint -- Search for -- "adding a second to a date field SQL" [pic] I believe using the smalldatetime option in order to use the ‘ss’ for the two digits to represent the ranging value from 00 to 59. Also using an alias for the table name in order for the query to proceed without errors. -- Q3. In the script above, Explain exactly why you cannot update col1 for the final two statements in the list. Each column in a table must have a specific data type and usually a maximum size that controls what data can be inserted or updated and whether a column may contain NULL values...

...Mitchell Collier PT1420 Unit 5 Research Assignment 1 Mr. O’Leary Research Assignment All the shell I’m about to list share some common features, and the major difference in syntax generally only affect scripts writers. It is not unusual to use one shell for interactive use, but another for writing scripts. There are many other programs which read a file of commands and carry out a sequence of actions, the convention allows any of them to be used as a scripting language to create new commands. There is never only one way to perform a function, and often the choice comes down to factors like the combined lengthy and repetitive sequence of commands into a single, simple command. Generalize a sequence of operations on one set of data, into a procedure that can be applied to any similar set of data. Create new commands using combinations of utilities in ways the original authors never thought of simple shell scripts might be written as shell aliases. Create customized datasets on the fly and call applications to work on them or create customized application commands/procedures like wrapping programs over which you have no control inside an environment that you can control. You have to learn what kind what kind of problems are suited to shell scripts and review the most commonly used Unix commands that are useful in shell scripts. In general the newer shells run a little faster and scripts are often more readable because logic can be expressed more cleanly user...
