United, We Must Stand
We are living in an era in which billions of people are grappling to promote communication, tolerance, and understanding over the more destructive forces of political chaos that have characterized the beginning of the 21st Century.
As stated in Alexandre Dumas’s The Three Musketeers, “All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.” We must learn that riggings of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs, explosions and fallout. There are munitions that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices, to be found solely in the minds of humans. The destiny of man is to unite, not to divide. If you keep on dividing you end up as a pool of monkeys throwing nuts at each other out of separate trees.
Diversity is an aspect of human existence that cannot be eradicated by terrorism or war or self-consuming hatred. It can only be conquered by recognizing and claiming the wealth of values it represents for all.
Whether it is moral or sinful, whether life in itself is agony or pleasure, whether it is uncertain — that it may perhaps be this is not important — but the unity of the world, the coherence of all events, the embracing of the big and the small from the same stream, from the same law of cause, of becoming and dying.
It is not enough for a sole voice of reason to exist; in this time of uncertainty, we are so sure that villains lurk around every corner that we will create them ourselves if we can't find them. For while fear may keep us vigilant, it is also fear that tears us apart — a fear that sadly exists only too often in our own chaotic world.
