Corporate Social Responsibility Integration As corporations and businesses evolve, they must adapt to the changing landscape of societal, environmental, and corporate-success needs. To achieve such responsibility, Verizon Communications Inc. has, and continues to, meticulously plant its feet into the web of the triple-bottom line. While maintaining their credo which is “a blueprint that directs us to live up to the highest standards when serving our customers, shareowners, communities, and each other”, Verizon aligns their overall goal to provide services to expand businesses, improve society, and link people (Verizon.com). The programs primary objective is for communities to donate their used or broken cell phones, batteries, accessories, and cell phone chargers and in turn, Verizon gives them to foundations based on domestic violence prevention as a means of communication to the victim and survivors family or other help hotlines. Not only does the donated equipment allow for communication, there has been $29 million grants awarded to the non-profit organizations that continue to educate communities and attempt to prevent domestic violence. Since the program’s inception, there have been more than 11.4 million phones collected with more than 190,000 phones donated to domestic violence survivors and victims’ (Verizon.com). A company who wishes to host a HopeLine drive can do so at no cost to the hosting company as Verizon will provide materials (such as poster, flyers, and other related information). After completion of the HopeLine drive, the phones are packaged and a pre-paid mailing label will be provided by Verizon or the collected items can be dropped off at any local Verizon store.
As Verizon continues to validate its success through the enrichment of serving communities and upholding obligations made to shareholders, the strategies used do not merely represent the minimum requirements by local, state, and federal governments.
